All this is just conjecture though, until we hear a reply from Big West. I'm inclined to believe that some sort of deal has been made, however it is also possible that HG tracked down whoever it was that had the american distribution rights and bought those rights off of them, then took that to mean they own the movie. Before we get into all sorts of debates, with the he said/she said type of 'evidence' to back up our claims, I'd rather wait and see what Big West's response to all of this is.

Yep, Lucas seems to have found a way to rip off the Legolas scene from the Two Towers and try to outdo it. well since that trilogy has out done ( So Far anyway, but how much can it change with one installment left?) Lucas' new Trilogy, i guess he has to do something to try and turn the tide... Well, the LotR movie trilogy ended on a rather weak note. If Lucas manages to end the Prequel trilogy on a strong note, well..it won't erase The Phantom Blunder or Goth Poetry Corner with Anakin Vader, but hopefully Lucas will turn out a more satisfying ending than Jackson gave us. While I mostly enjoyed Attack of the Clones, and it was a huge step up from Menace, I'm going to keep my hopes low.

Most excellent! This is wonderful! DYRL? with spot on subtitles!

I see what you mean, but it's not neccessarily Eva influence. Weapons like that have existed in anime for ages before Eva showed up. You even see a bit of that design ethic in the Destroids that show up in MII. Still, with Eva's popularity, it is highly possible that it was the specific influence.

Unfortunately, the Macross deck plans volume 1, done by Pod9, are the only source of info on the Macross Cannon I know of. I say Unfortunately because the size of the Macross Cannon in the OAVs is much, much, greater than Seimbeida's stats. My RPG buddies and I have had many a discussion about ol Kev Seimbeida, when it comes to Macross spacecraft (like the Oberth), we feel he must have "blinked" or has some type of "depth perception" disorder. The size of the Tou Redirs in front of the Macross Cannons (not to mention the four Nupertiet Vergnitzs attached to it) give a clue to its massive size. I estimate it to be around 8000 to 10,000 meters in length. I too would like to see some actual official data on this craft and all the Macross 2 craft. Yep, the Macross2 / Robotech RPG is totally mistaken in a lot of things. as for the Cannon I'd say the 4 'arm' are actually zentran flagships (or at least the shape and size compare) but 8-10km is too large too, I!d say somewhere between 4-7km. I'm still not sold on the idea that those are Nupertiet Vergnitzs attached to the Macross Cannon. They had a decidedly Earth-style design to them, like what a Nupertiet Vergnitzs would look like if built by humans. I'm thinking that the Macross Cannons are entirely Earth based designs, with a bit of the Zentradi tossed in because it looks freakin' cool. Still, you're quite right. The Macross Cannons are massive in the animation. Certainly much larger than what Palladium said they were. It has always amazed me to no end just how bad Palladium is with size stats, even in cases when they seemed to be in possession of official stats.

Agreed. Completely. -
like it? I found it on a gallery site featurign th emnay enterprises. O_o I ADORE that design! That would have been the perfect mix of retro and new, having elements from the old show, combined with slicker and more modern influences... without looking *way* too advanced compared with the original designs. And it having bits of Yamato thrown in is a good, good thing. *fawns* -Al That would have been a huge step in the right direction. Given some good writing, airtight continuity, and a good cast and it could have been something memorable. I agree completely on that design, absolutely gorgeous!

If they ever release a Hummer it had better be based on the real deal, not those Fisher*Price clown boxes. -

You apologize this instance! What has Kup ever done to you, man? -
I believe the dialogue in the opening episode of Robotech states Breetai's ship as being larger than Britai's ship is in Macross. The novels and RPG sourcebooks play fast and loose with ship, mecha, and Zentradi size stats. In fact, I believe that in Palladium's Robotech RPG, they state that the destroids tower over the Valkyries, when they're actually shorter in SDF Macross. The novels are utter rubbish for any solid details regarding either Macross or even the Robotech edit. I believe they even at one point refere to Gerwalk/Gaurdian mode as 'Gladiator' mode. The comic books, often based on the novel or RPG references and hence being about 4 times removed from SDF Macross are even more innaccurate. Someone posted a size chart from one of the Macross art books that is probably the best visual reference for sizes in the Macross universe. I've tried searching for that thread every time this issue comes up, but it may have been on the old forums, or it might not even exist anymore. Maybe someone can dig that image up and post it somewhere. Hmm, I've been scouring the Compendium to find that statement that Claudia stays on as Global's assistant, but I can't find it anywhere. I did however find that the VF-X-4 is transformable. Nifty. Still, I could have sworn that the Compendium is where I originally read that statement about Claudia.

Actually, I wonder what his original designs looked like. I really didn't like a lot of the Mikimoto designs found in the Macross II animation, but his actual paintings and illustrations of those characters are great. This could be a situation of the designs getting dumbed down or changed for the actual animation.

Wow. I really did not like what I saw of Full Metal Panic, but Fumoffu looks like it could be fun. I watched like 5-10 episodes of FMP and didn't even realize it was supposed to be comedy.

Actually, that was one of Cybertron's moons Cybertron lived to see another golden age (headmasters) Not really a "space"battle, but honorable mention: ID4 - The initial response of the humans once the aliens have been seen as a threat No, I'm talking about the very end, where he rakes his claws across Cybertron's surface and all the Decepticons counterattack. He didn't destroy Cybertron, but he did loads of collateral damage.

The final battle in 'Arcadia of My Youth' The final battle of DYRL? The Battle of Endor Isamu and Yang breaking through the EArth Defense Network (I know it's not really a battle, but damn it was awsome!) Many thanks for all the compliments, it's very much appreciated. I'll do my best to keep it updated weekly without missing deadlines (as you can see I'm already a couple weeks ahead of myself, and I already have another page all layed out, just needs colours). I'm having a lot of fun with it, and it's kept me drawing more than I otherwise would be. MSW, I think Steampunk is already gearing up to be the next big thing. I just hope I can make a name for myself before it becomes to cliche. I've been a big fan of the genre for over 10 years, it would stink to miss out on it finally becoming popular. Chewie, I believe in the good neighbor policy. If they don't bother me, I won't bother them, but if they try and sue me, well, it would just be neighborly of me to point out that they don't have a leg to stand on. I've had the website for well over a year now, so I don't think there's any problem. Blaine23, yup the word bubbles do kind of suck for the first four pages. I think I found my groove with page 5, and I'll hopefully continue to improve. This is the first time I've put serious effort into a comic, I normally just do quick, sketchy doodles. Wow, my girlfriend just won Reverend Horton Heat tickets for tomorrow night! Woo!

I can prove that theory wrong with three words: Last Action Hero. I cannot argue, it was shamefull... However it sucked next to other Arnold movies... Not next to other movies in general. Therefore: No Schwarzenegger = Not a good movie Didn't we talk about this a little before? btw, Macross never had Schwarzenegger in it, therefore your theory is invalid. I'm certain if we look hard enough, we'll find him in there somewhere.

Mea Culpa for this blatant self advertising, but since this is pretty much my favourite forum to post in and yet I still never seem to share my artwork around here, I figured I'd show off just this once. http://steampowered.net I've got a webcomic going now, once a week, just uploaded page 3 a few minutes ago. Because you guys are so great, here's page 4 for once you finish the publicly posted pages: http://steampowered.net/temp/comictemp4.html Aside from what's posted as the web comic page (wich also serves as my professional site) I've got art stashed away at http://radd.twu.net wich has all my fan art, commissioned artwork I've done, and some older pieces. Whenever I get around to finishing some of that Macross fanart I've been working on, that's where it will wind up (VF-4 fans, look forward to it!). In addition to all this, there's a comic anthology being published over the summer that I'm doing a 20 page black and white story for. If that sells well enough, then they're going to print bi-monthly and sell through comic book stores. I'm not certain what I'm able to reveal about it just yet, so I'll leave it at that.

You mean you don't have one yet?
-
Seriously. Been known for a while. They've also been cutting features from it to meet that price, and to get it out the door faster, such as DVD playback. At least that's the latest I've heard.
-
By my understanding, Southern Cross got the most editing, cutting, and rewriting of the bunch. I would love to see the originals.
-
I'm really impressed by what Nintendo is offering up this year. I must say the DS looks like it's exceeding my expectations. I wonder what the price will be? Nintendo has been on a big 'affordability' kick for years now, so here's hoping the DS doesn't get slapped with a $300 price tag that puts it right out of the realm of worth getting, like the PSP. The graphics they get out of the Cube never cease to amaze me. This looks like a good year for gamers.

I think we should keep comments about this (the Anime Network showing of Robotech) to the thread dedicated to it. It really has nothing to do with the licensing debate.
-
To each their own. Personally, I think Macross 7 is one of the better shows.
-
More than likely, Grevious is not Maul. There's a story that when doing up the concept work for Grevious, they brought Lucas an image of his head, with Maul's eyes, and Lucas told them not to. Still, I've seen people out there saying the eyes are similar, when if you look at a shot of Maul and a shot of Grevious side by side, the eyes are clearly different.

Anime Network to re-air all 85 Robotech
Radd replied to Roy's Blues's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
You pretty much hit the nail on the head. I didn't really expect otherwise. Still, I am dissapointed that a so-called anime network wouldn't show both. It's like celebrating Gigantor and making no mention of Tetsujin 28. Showing both the Americanized version and the uncut originals would please both casual viewers and fans alike.
