    Yamato stands

They are fairly cheap though so if you need a couple of stands it's not a horrible buy as long as your willing to to tinker with them a bit. I also like the fact that you can join the bases and if I ever wanted to pick up some GNUs these are the perfect stands for them. When these come on sale somewhere I will be picking some more up to tinker with. It's just to bad that Yamato screwed this stand up. All they needed was clicky joints in 2 places and they would be almost perfect. Would have been worth a couple extra bucks per stand too..........oh well a little tinkering and they met my needs anyways.
  2. VF-22 is going to be about the same price as a VF-11B. Hobby search lists it at 17,860 yen about 181.04 USD. So it's expensive but I wanted one for so long I won't give it up. Frankly I would sell my YF-21 before that one as I like the look of the VF-22 better.
  3. Hobby Search now has the Elint up for PreOrder: http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10092108 Pretty much a no brainier for me to order but at 15,960 yen about 161.78 USD 115.84 Euros it still hurts.
  4. Those Gundam/Macross pics are awesome. Can you guys do some with a VF-0, YF-19, YF-21 or a VF-25? The VF-1 and the VF-11 look so punny next to those PGs that it dosen't seem fair. Also I think you have finally given me a really good reason to go get a PG Gundam. Now the only question is which one?
  5. I don't know I am looking at my YF-21 and it doesn't look at all different. Maybe they are referring to the bell plates on the legs or some fixes?

Yep out of the box they kind of suck. Apply a couple of layers of plastic cement or nail polish like I showed in the above post and those friction joints get really nice and tight. After doing that it is starting to get close to being as good as the original Yamato stand......well maybe not close but it is allot better than it was.

Resetup my stand and it now looks like this. They are at least as good as my flexis now.

    Yamato stands

Yep I definitely like these stands better now with a little tinkering.
  9. I wonder if it's because they see them as fighters that transform into robots over robots that transform into fighters? You know....the complete opposite of a Gundam or a Transformer. I know it's just semantics but I prefer them in fighter mode. Batroid and Gerwalk are just really cool things that they can do.
  10. I think the gimmick on the Phalanx should be a "missile truck or something". Anyway no one has seen anything on the Phalanx lately eh?
  11. I'll order as long as it's not stupid expensive like the Bandai stuff is.
  12. I personally am glad that they have finally started to think about using smaller boxes. Also I am a fan of the box if it has a pic of the valk on the front, otherwise I could care less. My favorite box so far is the VF-1D despite what everyone else thinks.
  13. Yeah you make a good point. There are no missiles or fast packs (unless you buy the option) so it does limit it a bit. Me I am going to wait and see what other people think of it compared to the tan YF-19. If it really does have allot better fit and finish I'll pick up the next repaint, if it comes out. The "new" paint schemes aren't that inspired to make me too disappointed that I missed out.

    Yamato stands

Well I did it. I gummed up the stands using 2 coats of Tamiya Plastic cement. I applied coats to all 5 pieces and allowed them to dry and then tightened everything back up. Note DO NOT APPLY GLUE TO the "gear" wheels on the stand (the only parts the click) apply it to the lower section of those two pieceswhere it connects to the stand. They are fine if you tighten the screw up a bit. Also make sure to work them around a bit once when you assemble them and then again 10-15 minutes latter. Just in case you got a little impatient and didn't quite wait for the glue to dry. EDIT: changed the pic. to show where you should apply a coat of glue or nail polish. Here are the results: Not bad if I don't say so myself. There is still the problem of not having the nub, like the previous Yamato stand. but they hold those poses allot better now and it just took a little bit of work. Note that I tried adding some glue here as well to the slot but it only helped on some of the newer connecting pieces. Like those that came with the VF-1 1/60. Note that you will get a bit of a residue problem and it will fog the parts where you apply the glue but that is a problem that I can live with cause now they really are a friction fit.
  15. NICE!
  16. Sorry my bad. I forgot that Yamato's first YF-19 was like a 1/72 scale or something. So at 1/60 scale it would be a V2.0. Sorry about that I am an idiot!
  17. Hate to be a dick about this but if they redid it, wouldn't it be a V.3? This would be their 3rd attempt at it then if it ever came to pass. If they did it I would like to see all or at least some of these: - stiffer or more clicky joints. - New wing attachment method (trying to get it to hold in tension right now sucks and is too finicky). Would also be cool if they could get the wings to swing back as well as it did have a variable mode I believe. - Trim/loose the gullet. If they can do it on a VF-11 they can at least attempt to trim the gullet down on a VF-19 - Locking chest for battroid mode. - Better hands and a better gun pod. I would like it to be able to hold the gunpod straight along the forearm if possible. - Better arm articulation. I have been spoiled by the VF-1 1/60 V.2. It's set a standard for me that has to be matched. The VF-11B looses points because of this. - Has to come with the fastpacks standard like the other valks. That or the fold booster either or. The Heavy Weapons cluster would be a nice touch as well. To bad it's probably never going to happen.
  18. Considering these will be an even more a limited production run then the VF-22 we might never see these go one sale...that said if they bring out a Roy scheme or something else that is better than re-toning an existing scheme it's a pass unfortunately.

Yeah the friction joints suck and have to be messed with that's 1 of the 2 biggest problem with these. The other is the lack of the nub I mentioned. If it tips over your valk is going to flying somewhere because there is nothing to keep the tab connected to the stand unlike the original valk stand pictured here. As to the wing closure it's the adapter piece that comes with the valk that prevents the wings from closing not the stand itself (unless it gets in the way because of the pose that you picked). FYI the yamato adapter piece dose not appear to hinder hip movement much if at all.
  20. I actually like the looks of the YF-19 (The gullet doesn't both me much and I didn't really notice it until some people here kept ranting about it) but you are right to all the mechanical problems. Gerwalk looks particular bad as there is nothing locking it in place. The thing is though if they can do a VF-11 that looks so good (and no gullet) they can remake a YF-19 that is solid and does not have that much maligned gullet that some people hate. Then the question is there a market for a YF-19 V.3? As to the YF-21 I don't think you are ever going to get line art accurate on the YF-21 in Battroid mode or Gerwalk because of anime magic. If just not physically possible to make the fighter faithful at all with those giant legs. If they kept the legs then people would be bitching about the fighter mode sucking. Frankly I am perfectly fine with the way they are.
  21. Overdrive http://www.over-drive-inc.com/store/produc...roducts_id=1131 Hobby Link http://www.hlj.com/product/YMT00104 They are going to charge you EMS shipping but they are cheaper than Hobby Link so even though Hobby Link might ship it SAL you will probably end up paying the same in the end.
  22. Yeah when it first came out it was great. But to bring it out now and not to make any improvements just makes it bleeh. I wouldn't give the one I have up but if they can make improvements like they did fixing the crooked gun pod you would think that they could make some others but just looking at the pics you can tell it possibly will have the same issues......these bland repaints aren't enough to make me want to buy another one of these when I can get a very good VF-1 or VF-11 or YF-21/VF-22 or even one of the destroids.

    Yamato stands

Here are some more pics I took. You could use some of the other pieces in the kit to attach valks like I did here but it's a little sketchy. I was able to get some decent tilting but if you go to far it dumps it on its back. One thing I really wish the attachments had was a little nub in the reciever like the original dispaly stands to help keep the to pieces attached to each other at extreme angles to the left and right. And some final picks of the assembled stands. Final thoughts. These stands are fine for your valks but they need a little bit of modification. They really need some nail polish or a dry coat of glue to tighten them up a bit in the rotating 2 joints since they decided not to make them clicky. Also try to limite rotation to forward/backward, if you start rotating them side to side it can get a little hairy. My only real miff with these stands is the lack of a nub on the L bracket connection piece to attach to the existing Valk stand attachements. It'd help to prevent the valk from fly out of the stand if they tipped, which I discovered with my VF-11. It took a 2 foot fall to my desk when I was lifting the stand out and it tipped sideways..... .....it was fine.... ..... . In the end I am fine with my purchases and like I said before I will probably buy 2 more to complete the hexagon. Are they as good as a flexistand....no but the flexistand has problems if you get to extreme with them as well. The great thing about these stands is that they have just enough articulation to make them space savers for you valks.

That's the "old fart" that's into WWII planes and threatens to see if my valks would actually fly one day. Seriously though other than the odd prank that attempts to hide one or 2 of them on me I don't work in a really big office (25 people max) so it's not really a problem having them here. My boss hasn't said anything yet.....
