  1. No, I think this thread would have bumped had you..........
  2. No doubt. I really think Bandai should have a serious look at the good design points found in the VF-1 1/60 v2 and the VF-11B. As far as I am concerned they set a benchmark other companies should be striving for (cracked VF-1 shoulders not withstanding ) But who am I kidding. I have a VF-25 Ozman armored and a Tornado in my future.....I just have to find the cash first!
  3. Hobby link is selling it for 16,150 Yen. Anyone know if it is selling cheaper anywhere else? http://www.hlj.com/product/BAN958454
  4. What I really want is the VF-171 with it's super/strike parts. That would be totally awesome. Come on Bandai make the VF-171 already!
  5. I just purchased a VF-1A DYRL Hick and one of the shoulders was cracked out of the box. Just like my Roy. I knew this might happen going in so I am not to surprised but the price was cheap as it was from the HLJ christmas sale. Even eventually ordering replacement arms from Overdrive (despite the long wait) it was worth it as I love the DYRL valks. I think most of the valks after the 1A hik where better as I don't have any problems with my VF-1J hik and afterwards.
  6. Totally missed that you had mentioned this before. All the way back in October.....must not have been following the thread that week. Anyway the only reason I had thought that the two resembled each other in anyway was that the canon and wingpods (one being missiles and one being boosters) had a similar profile (not much but some). Also they both appear in movie editions. Oh and VF5SS I never saw that line art for the VF-0 before. Defiantly cool and I could see why you would think it had inspired the tornado pack. That and the pack basically gives the fighter delta wings. Frankly I thought it would have been cooler if they followed the Strike and added one canon and some kind of missile pod launcher. It's just the definitive fast pack for me. The Tornado's cannons are too Zentradi like for my taste and it would have been better off with something more angular I think. In the end I still kind of like it though. If they don't come out with this in a 1/72 model I am going to have to seriously think about picking it up. And here I thought I had lost interest in the DX line. So a Tornado, a VF-27 and most likely and armored Ozama should about destroy my 2010 tax refund.....shucks!
  7. I think it doesn't look to bad from the side if you look at the 1/200 in the same picture.....I would like to see it without those cannons on it, would look alot better.
  8. Am I the only one or does the VF-25F Tornado Pack remind you of (just a little bit) the VF-2SS from Macross II with an extra canon? Maybe I'm just being nostalgic.
  9. Sacrilage! .......but interesting. Make sure to post pics.
  10. Looks like it is going to be a better attempt than the VF-25.....who am I kidding I am going to have to break down and get this. Maybe I'll get an Armored Ozama at the same time. Have to see what the cash situation is like when this comes out.
  11. You would think so. I mean I have 7 valks I can put this on. (Probably 10 by the end of the year is someone else has a good sale). I am totally up for 1 -3 sets of the armor. I am not so interested in buying another Hick J just so I can have the armor. I still need a DYRL Max and Kak as well as the Max and Mira SP set.......
  12. I so want the carrot one! That's one I think I could live with in my office collection.
  13. Looks Nice! Yamato ground crew or is it from a model kit?
  14. Yeah I figured they would have just gone with the same scheme as the 1/48. It looked fine in fighter mode but I just didn't like the battroid mode at all. If they had, stuck with the original scheme, this was a Meh for me, now...... I kinda want one. The battroid looks cool at the very least.
  15. Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 looks nice. If I ever decide to upgrade from my G11, I so have to invest in a fast lense. I really like how the depth of field is so short and you can really use it to only keep exactly what your shooting in focus. Which camera do you have again eugimon...a nikon? Maybe I'll break down and get an Olympus EP-2 next year now that they will include a detachable EF on it with the pancake lense. I still want something more portable than a dslr and have body image stabilization. My G11 is really nice for keeping in my backpack that I take everywhere with me but it seriously lacks in the quickness department. As to the tripod if totally recomend a monopod as while it may not be as stable as a complete tripod it should still give a few stops better performance to hand held. If that's not enough I have used a gorilla pod allot at work mainly because it's so damn portable. Both options are nice because you can fit them in a bag....usually with your camera. The ultimate is still a tripod though if you don't mind lugging it around. So when it comes to this I can't recommend enough using surveyor tripods designed for Theodolites, Levels, and Total stations. Rugged and reliable, if you can find one on ebay or at an auction somewhere pick it up. You will have to modify it to fit the screw mount of your camera. These are larger and heavier screw heads designed to hold 5-30 lbs. pieces of survey equipment afterall. Again though you could probably pick a used one up cheap at a government auction or something and would make a good project to convert, if you are looking for such a thing. They are way better than some lightweight aluminum ones from most stores. There are some decent camera tripods that are pretty good but they get pretty expensive fast. It all depends on how much you want to spend. No need for a remote switch with one of the survey ones though. ....ah I miss surveying some days. Note that they are heavy but the feet are heavily spiked so you can get a firm purchase in most surfaces except concrete and tile. I converted an old survey tripod from work for this use at a previous job and it worked great.
  16. Looks as good as Yamato has been doing lately to me. Good job for you first attempt and better than I could do it.
  17. Got my VF-1A Hik today from the HLJ Christmas special and I just had to take a couple of pics...
  18. Hey eugimon do you want to post some pics to show the difference between the kind of pictures you can take with the Prime 35mm F1.8 lense you have and some of the others you may have? Would be interesting to see the difference you get between an f1.8 and a higher f stop lense (like a zoom) in Macro Photography.
  19. Yeah I shudder at what Spielburg will do to "Ghost in the Shell" and Dicaprio will do to "Akira", if those projects ever get off the ground. I don't doubt that they could make a good 'popcorn' movie but anything they do will probably be so unfaithful to the original material that we will have another GI Joe or Transformers..............nothing was good about GI Joe and the only thing good about Transformers is the Optimus death fight in Transformers 2..... but I will not let Micheal Bay and Stephen Sommers destroy my childhood. Re-watching those old cartoons seriously could though. Let Thundercats, Robotech, Macross, and all the others stay buried or in Japan. We are probably better off...unless you give it to someone like Neill Blomkamp or Peter Jackson. They seem to be able to make movies that are audience friendly, good story, and in Peter's case stay faithful enough to the original material to please most. They could ruin them to though. Anyway back on topic......what was it again......oh yeah Chronocidal is right there are so many other fighters like the VF-4 that haven't been done yet so we don't really need 'fantasy' valks. But lets stay in the spirit of things. If we did see anything though; an alternate universe with Steam Punk style VFs could be cool. Or even WWII VFs. I know Transformers has done something similar to this but it's not something they could pull of like Kawamori could. Macross's plot style would be perfect for that era. The WWII pinup girl/club singer (replace J pop with Jazz) and the always cool WWII planes (fighting and prototype) would make a cool combination I think. Naturally it would have to stay on Earth but Macross Zero proved you could do that and keep it interesting. What if the Macross crashed on Earth in the late early-mid 1900s???? Think of all the cool retro designs that could come out of that. But this is just an idea and (knowing this forum) it's about to get trashed in 5....4......3........2.......1.........
  20. I like how it looks but I am a little disapointed with the fact that the arms need stands. Maybe the final product won't but we will just have to wait and see. Oh well time to start saving.
  21. Hey we got Destroids, the VF-11 and the VF-22 this year. Not counting the VF-1 2 seats (both versions) I think Yamato is doing pretty good. Frankly I would like to see a slow down right now as my wallet is in need of a rest. I also need a chance to catch up and buy the Max and Miras, VF-11C and a few more VF-1s (eventually I think I will have 1 of every scheme..... ) Graham's been saying that they have other stuff in the pipeline and well just have to wait and see. Personally I think a VF-4 and VF-0D would be epic. Also lots of people would like to see the Sound Force done as well. Now that Yamato can do Macross 7 maybe we'll finally see it. At the very least the Macross 7 version of the VF-19 would be awesome. VF-17 would be cool but the VF-171 is such a better take on the design that would be the one I would prefer to get even if it is a bandai dx.
  22. Both holes!........................ ............god that was horrible but I needed to say it. I have to say that this thread is a guilty pleasure. I can see the appeal of these dolls but there is no way in hell that I am Otaku enough to buy them. That last one takes the cake as far as the Macross PVC dolls go.
  23. Not that crazy about the blue Super parts but I like the color direction they went with the valk. The blue tone would have been better as a gray toned white but it looks fine. What I really like is the all of the gray parts now becoming black. That is a definite step in the right direction. Edit: Is it me or does it look like they changed the gunpod color as well? Looks more purplish like the 1/72 model and 1/100s?????
  24. Waiting for a 1/60 VF-1A Hik. Couldn't resist buying something from the HLJ Christmas sale.
