  1. I believe that's been an ongoing saga of non-communication from the vendor, unfortunately.
  2. Numbers-wise, the movie will probably do fine, just for the level of spectacle it is, and the fact that even as terrible as it might be, people will go see it for one reason or another. I'm not looking forward to the movie so much as I'm looking forward to the time spent with family watching and discussing it. The movie itself is going to be a flash in the pan compared with the reaction once it comes out, and that, I expect, will be far more entertaining than the movie has any hope of being.
  3. The movie? Eh, might be decent, might not, it is a bit late to throw it in. I'm honestly way more interested in Kapitan Russkiy here, because not only does he look amusing, but he reminds me heavily of one of my best friends, and I'm going to be sorely disappointed if he doesn't attempt that costume at some point.
  4. I've picked up a couple of the newer Hobby Master releases (RA-5 Vigilante, and an F-35C), and they're getting really nice. My first, the CA ANG F-106 looks pretty sloppy comparatively, and they've gotten much better about hiding seams since then.
  5. Yeah, the sturdier construction is mostly what I'm after in the Destroyer, but at the same time, there's always that niggling voice in the back of my head going "look at all those gray plates.." I have fun building military aircraft, and these big sets always are a treasure trove of good elements. I am a little sad that they seemed to be out of the mini-Batmobile set when I sent in my order, but that was probably what caused the initial website hammering when it went live. I'll live though, and I'm probably a terrible person, but I'm already thinking of how else I can use the parts, and wondering whether that canopy would be a good fit for a large-scale BTAS Batwing. The most recent Batwing set should be a good companion for the smaller Batmobile though, it's really similar to the 89 movie version.
  6. Customer interaction aside, you have to admit they have a good track record of delivering hard to find items, albeit on their own nonsensical schedule, and at inflated prices. I'm pretty sure the mark-ups are what keep them afloat though, because, as we saw with the 31A, delivering all the orders they took could have had them eating a loss by acquiring all the necessary items from re-sellers (possibly why so few of their stock came in the original TWE outer shipper box). As soon as their orders were filled, they suddenly had a restock at over $700, which makes me think they had to bump them that high to make up for losses on ones they acquired above retail price. I don't believe their cancelling of orders and banning accounts is unique though. In all honesty, I wouldn't really have any trouble with it, if their store credit policy wasn't a pile of hair-tearing shenanigans. The hoops you have to jump through to spend store credit from a cancelled order from them are way beyond unreasonable. Bottom line, only order from them if you really truly want an item, and are willing to wait an unreasonable amount of time for it. They do deliver... eventually.
  7. I would love to get that eventually, but I've got far too many other things demanding my wallet's attention at the moment. I still have the original UCS Star Destroyer, and would love to see how they've improved the construction from that messy monstrosity. Or maybe I can pool my Amazon credits like I did for the Bandai PG Falcon a couple years ago...
  8. Anyone dig out the old Yamato D.D. figure to try in this one? Arcadia seems to have lost the ability to make in-scale figures, and this one is so tiny he can't even reach the controls.
  9. Heads up on the Air Fighter Collection front.. not seeing any title for issue 42, but 43 is going to be a big one! Edit: Correction, 42 is going to be another must-grab.
  10. Just got my shipping confirmation, batmobile should be here by the end of the week. Grats on that Saturn V set as well, that was a real bugger to pick up when it was new, and I'm glad they've kept up production this long. I know there's a lot of competition, but I can't really shake the impression that it may be the finest set they've ever produced.
  11. Was thinking the same thing, I know I've got at least a few decals I could copy.
  12. He had to, to stick the "We missed you!" slip to my door. I'm guessing he didn't feel like looking for the box.
  13. Oy... you'd think the car in the driveway, the lights on, and the music going on the sound system would have been enough to get the postal worker to try knocking. NOPE. Get to pick mine up tomorrow, because they stuck the slip to the door and ran off. Like, that literally makes zero sense. They already had to make the trip to my door.. did they just get so lazy they didn't want to grab the box out of their truck?
  14. I mean.. that's not unique. Militaries do that. They don't take kindly to officers breaking their oaths of service. That's what being "sworn in" means. You are swearing to give your life in the defense of your country. Yeah, I need to remember not to actually assume any form of competence for the First Order or Resistance... a more capable security system would have used authorization codes that were keyed to IDs or some kind of security token, so they could have immediately ID'd who had access and who deactivated them, but that's giving them far too much credit. More baffling is the fact that the instant the shields went down, someone didn't get a warning that told them "Hey, someone turned off the shields," followed by a gentle reminder that those are important, and should be turned back on.
  15. Or, she could have just as easily have said "Hell no", let them shoot her, and sacrifice herself to save the base she was charged with protecting. Generally that's what military service involves. What she did was called high treason. They didn't force her to do anything. She chose to betray her oath of service to the First Order, and Starkiller Base was destroyed due to her betrayal. The fact that she survived to the second movie at all is just one more testament to the overwhelming ineptitude of every single character with any sort of authority in these new movies.
  16. So it seems the website assault is over? I just went through the order process for the batmobile, and it was smooth as butter. Even found out I had enough VIP points to get it for $99, so I'm thrilled. I didn't see anything about the smaller '89 batmobile, so that might be what the initial surge was about, but I was more interested in the big one anyway.
  17. I'm actually curious if you'd be able to just strip the numbering and leave the black like on the YF-19. I forget if it was you or someone else who removed the white lettering from the left wing with some kind of alcohol, and the black underneath was left untouched.
  18. Actually he was far more active in ESB, because he managed to get a few shots off at Luke on Cloud City. The only thing he did successfully in ROTJ was trying wrap Luke up in that (physically impossible) cable tie thing from his wrist. The guy who shot Luke in the hand was a nameless guard on the sail barge wearing a hat like Lando's disguise. Far as Phasma goes.. the real headbanger there is the fact that she wasn't straight-up executed for treason. They didn't force her to do jack squat, she willfully shut off the shields to save her own backside.
  19. The worst part for me is that up until rather recently Amazon Music had all of the soundtracks available with Prime... I went to play my playlist one day, and got nothing but TFA, because they removed all of the soundtracks but that one. I promptly deleted the list, and went to listen to my actual soundtracks. I never cared a huge amount for the prequel soundtracks, because Williams seemed to basically pull off one distinct track per movie, but I can't even the new movies are that good. One good track per movie is more than the sequel trilogy has achieved, I think, and I can't remember anything from TFA or TLJ.
  20. Just got "preparation in progress" on order #701198 from NY. They're getting around to them, though I won't be here to pick it up until after Thanksgiving. Not going to lie though, that printed cockpit display kinda sucks. Yamato straight up printed the "watching the missiles" display on some of their releases.
  21. Ok, but can it handle a flight sim with VR? Because I'd do that way before I bothered with multiple monitors.
  22. I had that experience exactly, and I will never do it again. NY's "store credit" is about the most bonkers and restrictive policy I've ever heard of. Basically, the breakdown: 1. You cannot spend it on anything less than the full amount, it is not like a gift card balance that you can spend on multiple orders. 2. You cannot apply the credit to shipping, whether or not your original refund included shipping payment for the cancelled item. I wound up cancelling one of my 31A orders when I lost confidence in NY's ability to fill the order. In the end, I was able to apply the refund to get a 31E, but here's what I had to do: - I had to wait for the VF-31E to be marked up enough so that it cost the equivalent of a 31A plus shipping - I had to order a candy bar along with it, because the total was like 500 yen under my credit balance.. which by the time the order was fulfilled, they didn't even have in stock, so they cancelled the candy bar, and I lost out on whatever it cost. Frankly I didn't care at that point, but it was stupid. Just don't accept store credit. The only other option, sadly, is to do a credit card chargeback, which they will ban your account for, and cancel any orders you have unfulfilled. Bottom line.. NY will deliver eventually, but once you've placed an order there, you're basically in for a wild ride, because they're going to hold your money hostage until they get around to shipping out your order.
