  1. What fresh hell is this...
  2. It's the big red button at the top of the middle of the screen.
  3. I don't hate their availability and reliability, I hate their customer service.
  4. That's what makes me think it was a glitch. I'm still expecting them to show up for a mark-up later.
  5. You sure it's not their usual pre-listing?
  6. I keep telling myself I'll limit myself, but then I keep falling for every pre-order. I really do want a VF-1D and VT-1, but I might stop before getting M&Ms with this series.
  7. I'm just resigned to overpaying at this point. The stress isn't worth the price difference.
  8. Honestly, 1/18 for smaller aircraft is big, but reasonably manageable. Lots of those old WWII planes were done in that scale, and while I have no idea how you would transform something that big, it would be a really nice size for all kinds of details.
  9. That actually sounds like a pretty fair summary. I will admit, I have not watched either, because I don't feel like signing up for another streaming service to watch something they seem too afraid to put on broadcast television. I also won't try to say the word of mouth and reviews I've heard aren't incredibly biased against both series, for various reasons. Just from a plot synopsis standpoint though, neither series makes a flaming lick of sense to me, especially Picard. If they want to make an alternate universe, fine.. but they need to stop writing such terrible and/or stupid characters.
  10. It does ring as complete BS, but it doesn't mean KK wasn't quoted as saying, quite literally: Probably hundreds, if not thousands of videos have reamed her up and down for saying this. Not having "canon" material? Sure. But that's not what she said. Neither of those are wrong, but I don't blame JJ for ruining Star Trek anymore than I do for him ruining Star Wars.. that is to say, yeah, he's a terrible writer, but I can't blame him for where the franchises were driven. He made head-bangingly stupid movies, but he didn't make TLJ, or Discovery/Picard. Absent those disasters, I think both franchises could have recovered without nuking them from orbit and starting over, but here we are. The bottom line is that both franchises made terrible decisions, and fell prey to the "wider audience" fallacy. They sacrificed the fans they had for the fans they wanted. End of the day, the fans they wanted didn't give two shakes, and weren't going to spend the money the original fans would have. They just wanted to convert fantastically successful platforms to promote their own ideas. After all.. it's a whole lot easier to get people's attention from an established speaking platform than it is to build your own.
  11. Yeah, HLJ just looks broken at the moment. I had no trouble logging in a few days ago, now their account system looks hosed.
  12. If any of the rumors are actually true, this isn't ignoring or dumping, so much as taking the sequel trilogy out back, and putting it out of its misery. What they're talking about is an in-universe retcon via time shenanigans, relegating the sequel trilogy to its own brand of the Kelvin timeline. They didn't even give the EU that much send-off, because it was never "canon" to begin with (and it's been mentioned that certain higher ups were theoretically completely ignorant of its existence in the first place). Now, I don't put any money on it happening, because that would be straight up surrendering to the fans, and admitting how badly they screwed up, on top of signaling that all of the "deeper meanings" and themes in that trilogy were completely insincere, and were done for no reason other than appeasing the higher powers in media, in the name of profit. Well, surprise surprise, the profit didn't happen. As much time and energy is spent trying to appease the most obnoxious voices, they never intended to spend any money anyway, and those in charge managed to drive away all of the people who would be stuffing their coffers hand over fist. Star Trek and Star Wars have always been what I'd call the "twins" of science fiction mega-franchises. They've wound up in exactly the same place, for exactly the same reason: leadership driving both franchises face-first into a brick wall in the name of silencing the whiny two-year-old in the corner who's having a conniption fit over all the other kids enjoying their toys. And in their ignorance, the powers that be thought taking all the toys away from the other kids and giving them to the whiny child would fix it... No, the child never had any interest in the toys in the first place. They just didn't want the other kids enjoying them either.
  13. Oh, wow, I didn't know the RAF was involved in Operation Sleepy Weasel!
  14. Not Arcadia actually, so maybe it's a stretch, but I absolutely remember getting new release Yamato VF-1s with vintage faulty shoulders long after the fix was implemented. The yellowed parts in the VF-1J/GBP-1 set too. They just have a history of including older stock parts in their new releases. It does depend on how many of Yamato's historical foibles you want to carry over to Arcadia, so I'm probably being unfair. I don't think Arcadia directly has made any of those slip-ups yet, but I also have bought very few of their releases. My concern is more that, with factories being strained as they are, the potential for falling back on old supplies of faulty components might be higher than usual.
  15. There is a precedent for it, sadly.
  16. You could -maybe- accomplish that by using the clear parts, and not painting too heavily? Strategically letting light leak out of the area until it looks illuminated. Also, using yellow bulbs. I hate that all the lights in that kit are so blue-white.
  17. I'm mostly at the point where I consider 25,000Y to be the expected price to pay, if not up to 30,000. I've basically made my peace with those prices, since when the main vendor sites all crash, that's usually the price at NY once the dust clears.
  18. I've always just heard "Roy Focker Special" in the same vein as a celebrity vehicle. It's just his ride. I'm trying to think of more places where you would see that, but most aren't aircraft, they're more often limited edition cars. It's a little beyond just customization, it's more like association with a particular person who owned or designed it, more like a Shelby Cobra. The only aircraft that comes to mind is a Pitts Special, and while I think it started as a custom design associated with the designer himself, it gradually became a very popular mass produced design.
  19. Rendering technology gets better, simple as that. Compare the Original Trilogy SE CGI with Rogue One, and you realize the X-Wings in ANH look like bootleg copies of the models used in Rogue Leader. Seriously, count the polygons, the guns are 16-sided. Models depend on quality cameras, but the shape of them will never change over time.
  20. Did they post an actual date for this pre-order nightmare yet, or are we waiting on confirmation?
  21. I'm waiting for Bandai to announce that the only way to get the TV super packs will be bundled with a repacked/modified VF-1S with Hikaru's name and figure included. I'm just going to accept that I will be paying extra to get two of these, but then I'm pretty much done until we get a VF-1D/VT-1.
  22. They'll cant outward a bit more, but I think a set of more detailed F-18 gear would look nice, especially with some bigger tires. Down side is that the nose gear will need some extra work to look as good, if you use more detailed gear in the back. I don't know of any potential replacements for the nose that would look right, especially with how odd the nose strut looks for a carrier-based fighter. Just from the door configuration, an F-4 strut might work, but the shape is a bit different (side mounted retractor, and angled shock scissor), and there's no catapult bar. You would also probably want to find one in the extended launch position, since the length would be more fitting. I can actually see the VF-4 needing the same thing, honestly, being a delta design, and generally sitting with the nose rather low.
  23. I'm actually curious what broke on that leg, it looks like the screw holding the leg to the hip sheared off. The dark gray piece looks intact, and looks like he had to drill out and replace the screw. All things considered, as terrible as breakages are, it's really encouraging to see that many screws being used in assembly, and how relatively easy it looks to disassemble and repair when necessary.
  24. I probably won't go overboard with these, but I am absolutely happy I waited this long before finally gabbing any Legioss, in any format. Will probably try to grab a pair of red ones too, maybe a green. We'll see!
  25. I had a similar situation thanks to the earthquake last summer, and while completely stable, my gerwalk pose took a 5-foot header to the floor. Landed in some packing materials, so it wasn't a hard floor, but it scattered bits everywhere like the intake covers, hands, gunpod, etc. I think the only "damage" it received was that the impact forced the joints around, and one of the gerwalk joints on one leg is fairly loose now, with the ratchet not really amounting to much.. I've relegated that one to fighter mode.
