  1. I dunno why but I cant seem to watch ne of the newer series out there... Gundam 00 just doesn't appeal to me... Seems like the same depressing story of a society without hope trying to stop wars and get along all over again... I actually never saw gundam wing but ppl were always saying it was a good and fun series to watch... I think it appeals to me because the story line is neither too emotional or deep. Its just fun to watch all the adventure and espionage that goes on in the series without the melodrama which I think makes wing standout from the others.
  2. WTF is going on here?! There has to be some kind of conspiracy going on here for US based toy retailers to stop selling japanese macross figures or products altogether... www.imageanime.com has recently stopped selling any japanese macross products or figures all of a sudden with no explanation given... What once was a list of japanese macross goods is now only a $hitty lineup of toynami robotech products sponsored by harmony gold... Its funny that this happens all of a sudden when macross frontier comes out and appears to be making alot of money with the merchandise and all. HG never took any serious action of this kind before frontier came out... I guess they thought the older macross saga wasn't a big money maker anyway so they let US retailers do as they please... This has to stop IMO if its true that legal pressure from HG is causing this problem something has to be done... There aren't many US toy retailers that sell macross goods in the first place and instead of these companies standing up for themselves they appear to be giving in to HG's demands.... I recently heard about threats of legal action from HG against bbts.com for selling the bandai macross frontier valks and although joel the owner of that website denies any claims that they have given into the threats and stopped selling japanese macross figures altogether. Recent activity of the website shows that they still haven't gotten any of the macross frontier preorder items that were by promised to be available by now... Not only that but it appears that bbts is also no longer getting any new shipments of macross yamato products as well... I'm surprised nothing was said about this earlier... It seems like HG is desperate to get some income flowing with the way the global economy is and all, this bullying has to stop!
  3. WOW! I must say the PG astray looks beautiful... I might have to pick it up as it is the only other PG to catch my interest besides zeta. Its good it doesn't have too many gimmicks because that makes the model a little too expensive for most ppl.
  4. I agree that the original series of gundam should be remade with more modern art... I still have yet to watch the entire 0079 series because the animation is so bad and hard to take in, even for its own time the animation was considered sloppy and low budget because gundam wasn't a big success when it first aired in japan. In the meantime for ppl who don't feel like trudging though all 45 episodes of 0079, the movie trilogy is a good alternative with slightly upgraded animation and added scenes its a good substitute.
  5. Oh this... this was actually one of the first gunpla kits I ever built... Its a 1:100 scale HG kit of gundam epyon from gundam wing... Its a good kit and easy to detail and build. At the time I didn't have much modeling paints or materials but managed to make the kit look good with some panel lining and hand painting all the black areas. This kit is a domestic kit from 1998 I believe.
  6. Yeah I've had the same problem with my alto graham... Every time I try to pose the toy I have to make sure I hold down the hip joint so the hip joint lock doesn't snap off... It happens far too much IMO and I hate when that happens because Im afraid of the locking tab wearing down after awhile if it keeps up... I don't pose it that much ne way but it is something that needs to be addressed... Perhaps a later version will come out with improvements but not ne time soon I think...
  7. For the longest time I didn't have ne model kit of the original RX-78-2 gundam. So I decided on getting the ver ka MG kit... Some ppl don't like that version because its not true to the anime and has a more modern look but I like the realistic look of the kit.... There are so many versions of the RX-78 that you're bound to find one you'll like... I'm not a big fan of the original gundam design but I just had to have one because your collection just isn't complete without the original... Its like have every other valkyrie in you collection but not having ne of the VF-1 valks from the original macross.
  8. It seems as though a lot of ppl on this board aren't used to bandai products... Although alot of products are labeled perfect transformation or "perfect grade" there are always little attachment's and interchangeable parts that come with almost all bandai products... Bandai's main goal is to make they're products as affordable as possible... They're basically trying to balance looks and accuracy with economics... In the end the economics usually wins out over "perfection" if that means it'll cost much more to make a product that is truly considered perfect. Yamato only caters to adult collectors and their market usually serves ppl with more disposable income... So ppl get perfect figures but at a not so perfect cost... The YF-21 for example is an excellent toy and is perfect in nearly every way but the thing is 220 U.S dollars.... That's alot more than most bandai products even some perfect grade kits don't cost that much...
  9. Yeah I hear ya... the store sometimes has good deals but most of the time its a rip off...
  10. I'm surprised no one saw or spoke about this picture yet but this is a promotion pic apparently for the vf-11b on imageanime... it looks like an offical pic from yamato... heres the link http://www.imageanime.com/maplvfwsupap.html Sorry graham if I'm jumping the gun here on new information but this pic was posted on a vendors website no offense...
  11. OH man 2008 was toy heaven for me! lets see... 1/60 Yamato SV-51 Nora type VF-0S Roy Fokker with Ghost VF-0A Shin Kudo with Ghost YF-21 Perfect transformation YF-19 and Fast Packs 1/60 Yamato V2 VF-1A with Strike parts v.2 Megazone 23 Yamato 1/15 Proto Garland Perfect transformation figure Bandai GFF Metal composite RX-78-2 ver .ka Psycho Gundam MK.I Psycho Gundam MK.II GFF Standard RX-78-NT1 Alex "Frame Model" version Zeonography Kampfer ver .ka HCM PRO GM Sniper RX-79 G Gundam ground type GM-79 EZ 8 RE-GZ Zeta Gundam "CCA" DX chogokin 1/60 DX Macross Frontier VF-25F alto type! That was my big toy haul for 08... Not too many figures but I prefer quality over quantity! I am so happy I was able to get my hands on bandai's latest valkyrie... It is truly my most prized possesion toy wise! Ill post pictures later but I don't have the time now.
  12. After going back to transform my YF-21 back from battloid to fighter mode I ran into some hiccups along the way as I totally forgot how to transform the thing since I first had it... The good thing is that the toy is designed in such a way that its very hard for ne pieces to break as it is made of sturdy ABS plastic... Not only that but all the integral parts of the YF-21's transformation is made in such a way that the pieces will give in or collapse if too much pressure is applied to them. Thankfully most of these pieces are also snap fit so if you mess up you can attach them to the pegs again. This toy is a marvel of toy engineering IMO... It is very high quality and designed so well... props to yamato on this one as it is almost break proof!
  13. I don't get what your talking about bu ne way, I like the fact that you can use the cheap bandai display stands for the dx valk... While the proportions on the DX chogokin aren't perfect I think its good enough as is... Maybe bandai could have made the toy more CAD accurate but that might take away alot of the toys durability factor... Like I said before this toy is much more sturdy than ne yamato valk I've ever owned even the 1/48 pales in comparison.
  14. You see the pic here in battloid mode? How the heck do you get the shoulder pieces to sit flush against the chest plate? I pretty much transformed the dam thing but the shoulder pieces wont budge! There also seems to be stop gaps to keep the joint from sitting flush... I'm beginning to think this is just part of the design...
  15. Well i'm probably one of the first ppl in america to have one of the DX valks on hand atm... It just come in the mail today so I haven't had time to look through it now and transform it but the toy looks really sturdy and had alot of metal on it... I appears to be of really high quality toy wise... I'm pretty sure its more durable than ne yamato valk to date... The packaging is just awesome too! Its real colorful and has that nice embossed silver macross frontier patch of authenticity. The box just begs you to open it and dig in! Ill post some pics later
  16. While I would like to see this product made I gather it will be rather expensive... If bandai scales it down enough I could imagine it could be as cheap as the wave sdf-1 model but something tell me this figure will easily be over 150 with the way inflation is and all...
  17. I've been hearing alot of complaints about Ozmas vf-25s... But every picture I've seen of it doesn't look good at all... the main thing that kills it is the neck length or lack thereof in poseability it seems. Why did bandai decide to go with this design? It seems like the chest is always covering the neck joint giving it a turtle in shell look... its an eyesore really that I cant ignore and I don't think ill buy it unless it comes with the armor parts or bandai does a new headsculpt all together' Also the shape of the head seems smushed in every photo I see... Is it really that bad? I sure hope its not as bad as it looks...
  18. Well I don't think yamato will be in serious trouble unless the whole economy of japan or asia in general collapses which is a big possibility nowadays... All the factories that produce yamato products are in china and china is having massive economic turmoil and civil unrest... Most ppl aren't told whats going on there atm from the media because it is government censored and they don't want ppl to be fearful of the economy... But yeah I'd say yamato will be ok as long as the economy is in its current form...
  19. I've been giving some thought as to why there are always recon valks like the RVF-25 or VE-1 ELINT seeker... Youd think that by then there would be no need for a recon vessel since the targeting systems on the vf-1 and vf-25 models is so much more advanced... Also since very little heat signatures are emitted in cold space how would a valks missle system seek out enemy targets? is that the prupose of the recon vessels? Another thing... the way the vf-25 makes sharp and fast turns in outer space where there is a vacuum and no air resistance seems inconceivable atm since no such technology exists to move a craft in space that fast and suddenly... I'm assuming that the vf-25 somehow manipulates a small gravitational field around the vehicle to push it in different directions if needed. If ne one has a better expanation id like to hear it.
  20. With all due respect graham this is really nothing new if you look at all the other products bandai has made... Alot of the gundam MG kits and GFF figures have the same exact problem. The hands never seem to hold any rifles or big guns correctly and the guns tend to sag off of the hands on most bandai products... You might have to bend the hands a bit to make it hold the rifle more snugly. But I understand what you're saying... You'd think by now they would have that problem fixed but it seems to be inherent in other bandai products as well...
  21. Well the only online store in the U.S that has the DX chogokin's in stock atm is imageanime.com. Its located in the east coast in NYC... Although at the 180 dollar price point before shipping its kinda expensive but at least you'll get the toy around a week earlier... If you have the funds id say go for it! Shipping should add up to 15 or 20 USD depending on your location... I admit I caved and ordered one from them and expect it by the end of the week. I can't wait to have it in my hands!
  22. Man the only vf-25 alto on ebay is sold out already! oh well even if I did get mine through ebay he probly wouldnt be able to ship to me from japan until the 5th... Thats when japan new years vacation ends.
  23. Well I preordered from hlj but it look like ill have to wait till mid january to get mine shipped... im tempted to get one on ebay though... Ill see what happens.
  24. LMAO yeah that was a very funny comment... But cmon seriously! Bendy ears? I don't know about you guys but I always took care of my yamato valks with the hard plastic ears and they never broke off unless you willingly manhandled the toy lol... and at the 120 dollar price point I don't think many little kids are gonna get this either...
  25. Ah looks like you took a buncha HCM pro or MSIA spare parts and put them together... looks a little messy the the design is ok... LOL seems like I'm the only one here excited about gundam figs atm... Right now they're a cheap alternative to macross figs and they're small and take up very little shelf space.
