  1. meh you may have missed out on a good sale but unless you really research these things it's kinda hard to know where and when a sale will start ahead of time. Hey at least you have the pleasure of receiving your items ahead of time and have the spare cash to pay for them all. I'm currently eyeing that VF-11b ATM... I wouldn't pay full price for it but that deal looks very tempting although it'll kinda even up with EMS shipping and all...
  2. Maybe your right but it seems that all the other PG kits released a few years earlier sold well. Every website that ever sold gunpla always sold out of their new stock PG kits that would come in every few months. Even at a high price point the wing zero custom and GP01 kit always sold out within two to three weeks. I just expected most places would be out of stock right now on what usually is a well selling item.
  3. As an owner of that mk II figure I must agree that the qualitiy is top notch for a bandai product. The thing is massive even in its 1/144 scale and is awe inspiring when you first take it out of the box. The level of detail is amazing as well and it is very sturdy. If your a big gundam fan you owe it to yourself to pick this thing up if you can. It is a very impressive piece to anyone's collection and is a good conversation starter.
  4. HLJ has the PG OO set in thier inventory but it doesn't seems to be selling out like most new releases due... Must be ppl trying to save money due to the economy... Still the kit is great but it is a bit much... 300 USD is pretty steep even for a PG kit. I paid 170 for my PG zeta kit a few years ago and the features are comparatively equal with electronics wiring and all.
  5. I recently picked up a few vehicle figures. The AT-ST walmart exclusive is great. It's in scale with the 3 1/4 inch figures and the poseablity is great on it! Also managed to pick up the newly retooled tie interceptor tru exclusive. Although a little pricey it is the best tie vehicle yet. The design is very sleek and the cockpit is alot more detailed.
  6. I totally agree with you on all point's man! I was at first skeptical in my opinion of the series when first watching it... I didn't like the art style too much at first but the series was so deep and engaging that I could help but get sucked into it and finish the rest of the season. That also got me into collecting alot of the prequel trilogy vehicles that I never really cared about at first when episode II and III came out. Overall I now appreciate the art style of the characters in the series and I do prefer the animated figures over the realistic legacy collection versions. The series just adds so much depth to the point that I actually care about what happens to the character's and plot line. I haven't seen much of season 2 yet but I hear it is going to be a alot darker than season 1 and will focus more on the climax of the clone wars and anakin's own personal dilemma. My only gripe about the animated figures is that they tend to have less poseability than the legacy figures do but the look and style of the figures is great IMO.
  7. I totally understand what you're saying... I just can't stand turn-A... The mecha designs are great and different but the plot is poor and almost nonexistent... I have seen all the other gundam shows produced by tomino except for V gundam. At first I really enjoyed the series in the UC timeline.... But by the time I finished watching every UC series he was involved in I just got sick of the same old routine and stopped watching gundam for a very long time until recently... 0079 was exciting and original, zeta was depressing but the battles were awesome, ZZ was kinda boring and I couldn't take it seriously... CCA was a good end to the original U.C time line and I was happy with the outcome. However that's when my interest in the series started to wane... I couldn't stand V gundam simply because it follows the same pattern as zeta gundam and is not very original at all. The only modern incarnations of the series that I did enjoy were mostly the side stories like 0080, 0083 and the 08th ms team. But those adaptations were not made by tomino... Maybe that's why I liked them so much because they were different and showed a different side of the OYW and post OYW conflict. IMO tomino is long out of ideas for the gundam series and has moved on to persue different ventures that allow more creativity. He contributed enough and should have stopped by the early 90's IMO.
  8. Oh I hear ya buddy... I've been playing racing sims since gran turismo 3 on the PS2 and I recently got the collectors edition of FM3. For what you get IMO its worth the extra 20 bucks. NE way the most challenging part of FM3 is upgrading a lower class vehicle and tuning it so that it is stable enough to drive... It's like overclocking your CPU... It can reap great results but takes some trial and error to get the car to run right. Your basically pushing a car beyond its limits so it'll naturally take some know how to tune your car. First things first... Alway's tune tire pressure first to get better handling, that is the most important part of the car as far as performance goes. Without traction you wont get very far. Also If possible you might want to add a spoiler and body kit for better aero dynamics to keep your car on the road without spinning out. It takes some speed away but in the end make's your car handle a lot better. One more tip always tune in small increment's, tune each setting two or three notches in the menu then test drive to see how the cars runs... Rinse and repeat. NE way once you get the hang of it the game is a blast to play especially online. My gamertag name is "Burningorb" be sure to add me to your friends list and maybe we can race online sometime.
  9. Meh I'm getting tired of trying to keep with all the new releases that bandai and yamato are making... It's just becoming too much time and money for releases that are mostly the same aside from some scalability and repaint differences. I'll still keep a decent collection of a few unique must have's but nothing more than that. My money could be put to use for better thing's IMO.
  10. Hmm... As the world economy worsens small businesses like these which license anime to english speaking audiences are bound to suffer and are some of the first businesses to fail. What could probably help most of these companies is lowering the price of their official content because IMO the official DVD's are way overpriced as it is. The fact that this is a niche market in the west won't help either, and selling DVD's at 20 dollars each isn't gonna help these struggling companies in any way. Right now ppl just don't have the spare money to buy something they can get for free over the internet. Most ppl still download, stream or pirate anime as they please via online sources even if the series they choose to watch is already licensed in their country. I dunno what to say... It's good to know that the anime culture is still thriving via the internet and local conventions. I foresee the anime culture going back to it's niche roots again in a more underground manner. That's not necessarily a bad thing though.
  11. meh... as much as I like the new v2 valks I can't bring myself to buy the same figure with a retooled mold... It's just too much money to invest all over again and I can't get rid of or sell my old 1/48's because I love them too much. One or two v.2 variants are good enough for me atm.
  12. I'm usually the first one to get any new releases of premium valk figures but I think this one can wait for now... To be completely honest these products are getting a little redundant and expensive... I have too many other things to pay for atm and the quality from what I hear isn't so good for what you pay for with this release. Maybe this winter ill grab one off ebay if it's not available ne where else by then.
  13. I'm really digging the upcoming r2d2 legacy collection version... I have the current saga legends electronic version but it appears as though I can't remove the middle leg on it due to the electronic sounds feature it has. It's nice and all but lacks all the other gimmicks the other versions seem to have. The jedi knight luke looks better than alot of the recent mold's for luke that have been released... Still nothing hold's a candle to the sculpt of the POTF2 jedi knight luke, although the articulation is limited the sculpt is nearly perfect.
  14. I haven't collected ne star wars figures for a long time since ROTS came out... Now i'm starting to get back into the figures again... I really like the new OTC and legacy figure lineup. The clone wars figures are pretty good IMO. They are the best mold yet for the CG clone wars series. Probably gonna get one or two vehicles sets from the OTC lineup. The OTC 2006 dagobah x-wing looks really good but is no longer sold in stores (Have to order online). The OTC Tie fighter also looks very impressive, it's one of the few newer vehicles that is actually in correct scale regarding the figures. I really want the warp drive accessory for the clone wars jedi starfighter, only recently has a revision with the drive been available.
  15. If you paint over the parts after sanding them down the stubs are almost nonexistent... You would have to look really hard to catch any with the naked eye pretty much. But if you want an absolutely perfect model then your gonna have to use modeling puddy. After sanding apply a light coat of puddy over the nubbed area and sand down a little more till the puddy blends in with the rest of the parts and your good to go from there... Of course your going to have to paint over the part so that the ugly puddy isn't visible on the parts. That's currently the best way to remove studs or excess. If you don't plan to paint over the kit than there really is no effective way of doing so without having some stubs on the parts. That is why a lot of hardcore gunpla modellers to not like chrome finish kits because there is no effective way to completely get rid of stubs without ruining the finish of the kit. Ne way have fun and goodluck.
  16. While some of the fights scenes seemed apparently rushed and I agree the last fight went way too quick. Micheal Bay is trying to make this a movie for everyone so that even ppl who are not die-hard fans will enjoy it. Alot of extra footage featuring sam and his family were introduced in the movie to give it a more balanced appeal while mixing in some crude humor to make it more accessable to a public audience... This is a double edged sword... on the one hand if the movie had too much homage to the g1 series for the die-hard fans, a lot of average viewers wouldn't be able to relate and would feel left out. Still it could have been handled better... The first movie seemed to have pulled that off perfectly, the comedy wasn't overbearing and there was a good balance of story focused on the transformers as well as the human characters of the first movie. It seems like michael bay focused too much on the human element this time around to capture a larger audience. As a result the plot and focus of the movie suffered a bit. It's not the worst sci fi movie around though... IMO it still is better than a lot of the crap hollywood has been putting out this year but it could have been better if the movie wasn't so rushed. Hopefully the third movie will redeem it self in the long run and get back to what made the first movie so great.
  17. WARNING MAJOR SPOILERS! If you want the see awesome CG robot action than this is it, but don't expect to be blown away by the lackluster plot and character development this movie has to offer... its sub par at best.
  18. Actually I like the PG kit of wing better than the MG kit, While the MG kit is slightly more durable and poseable it it lacks the level of detail the PG kit has, the PG kit also has a slightly better paint job out of box.
  19. Unfortunately you are quite right... The zaku 2 was the first PG ever made and its design while decent is outdated compared to the newer 2.0 zaku MG. But if you want a big 1/60 zaku II for the size then by all means go for it, it still is a very good kit and is a bargain compared to the other PG kits available atm.
  20. I have always liked the ace combat series since number 5. IMO its the definitive arcade sim on consoles thus far. HAWX doesn't even come close. NE way ill be looking forward to this when it comes out. Hopefully it has better multiplayer than 6.
  21. Whatever you do try building a more simple pg kit like the gundam mk II or strike gundam. My first PG was the zeta gundam and let me tell you IMO I think it's the most complex PG kit out there atm... Not only does it have a movable inner frame but it also has electrical wiring and ground's required throughout the entire kit. It's also a perfect transformation kit which makes it very complex, there are a lot of tiny spring assemblies and special movable parts to make it transform. NE way I have yet to build another PG kit since then. I'd like to get another one and build it someday but I have neither the time nor the money to invest in another atm... Goodluck. Meanwhile I am almost finished my zaku 2.0 MG atm. It's my first zeon kit and im impressed with the engineering of the kit, its a fantastic kit and very fun to build IMO...
  22. damn... if only this sale had come sooner... By now I already have everything I would've wanted from that sale list at this point... Ain't life grand?...
  23. I decided to get back into the game after taking a long hiatus to focus on other thing but I just got back into the game a few days ago. This game is just as entertaining as it was when I first played it. I beat the main story as a do gooder but now imj going the evil route toi see what happens in my latest playthrough, im so used to being a good guy that its hard to do bad things in this game... It can be so brutal when your evil but still fun to see a different outcome nonetheless... Just played through operation anchorage dlc today... I thoroughly enjoyed it as it brought me back to the ol'skool FPS day's. You can only use whats given to you and you cant use ne items other than the weapon's and armor in your inventory. You have to pick up health and ammo along the way to help you survive... IMO this was a good change of pace for the game and added some challenge and strtegy to the game. Not to mention you get some sweet goodies once you complete the expansion. I can't wait to play the other 3 current expansion's soon. I hear a brand new fallout expansion is coming out in a few month's called new las vegas. It's a whole new chapter with another giant landscape of the post war vegas. Still there is so much content that it'll take a while to do everything in the game.
  24. UGH... This hobby makes me want to go back to buying valks again... I just ruined some parts on my zaku 2.0 MG kit... Sent an email to bandai japan which I heard offers free replacement parts for any missing or damaged kit parts... This can only be done once per customer and a pic of the parts you need must be provided also with the item number as proof of purchase for any bandai japan kit.. Unfortunately this service is only offered to resident's of japan USA or Canada. There is no service for any country in europe or china that I know of for this. Response is sometimes slow depending on the amount of demand for parts on bandai's service... Hopefully I get a favorable reply soon.
  25. Hi I'm opening this topic because I need some info and links on how to use airbrush equipment. Any links with some basic technique's on building, painting and detailing model kits would also be very appreciated. Right now I'm more into gunpla model building than anything else right now but feel free to post any useful links and discuss techniques with others if you like. thanks! After finally being able to attain the necessary materials for basic painting and detailing gunpla... I notice I'm finally getter better at it after many years of trial and error with working on basic kits over the years... I can't do this hobby all the time as it takes up a lot of my free time but I'm getting back into the hobby again... For now I'm using tamiya surface primer, spray cans and enamel top coat for the finish... I don't think I will invest in an air-compressor or airbrush any time soon though... I don't have the skills or the confidence necessary to spend hundreds of dollars on airbrush equipment, but if I do I know I'm going to make a lot of mistakes and possibly ruin the equipment as I have no idea how to handle it for maintenance... I can't seem to find good information or a good tutorial online on how to properly use and handle the equipment... if anyone has links on the subject it would be greatly appreciated.
