  1. Looks like panel line depth is quite good on the prototype so hope that is also the case on the VF-0A Shin. It will make weathering much easier
  2. Very awesome work! If only I had the patience and time to do this kind of thing. Thanks for sharing
  3. Oh snap! Arcadia stopped selling their valk stand?!?! (or only HLJ stopped selling it) That is a bit sad... At least include it with each valk release from now on if it isn't going to be available. EDIT: Oh geez. Looks like no one selling the Arcadia Valk stand any more. At least we have Yeti stand!
  4. I would be tempted by a GP01 Zepharantes / Full Burnien armor girl.
  5. I hope the colours of the shin custom is changed for the actual release. I prefer without the dark blue, but if it doesn't change I'll cancel my HLJ order and wait for the CF. I wonder if we'll ever get a chance to see the mass produced version before release... I might not get the chance until it's actually released. *eek!*
  6. Thanks for your impressions of the Metal Build Astray Gold Frame Amatsu. It's got me pumped for the Metal Build Strike Freedom and Red and Blue frame later. I think I will just get the Red frame first up, and wait for them to release 2nd L Blue Frame too, since Blue Frame is identical to Red Frame at the start. I hope Red Frame comes with the samurai sword. They haven't shown it at all so far. I hope there is new displays at Wonderfest.
  7. The real touch markers are great for dirtying up areas. They are similar ink to the Gundam fine tip panel lining pens, but maybe less opaque and easier to rub off and smudge around. They can simulate that weathered effect that Yamato used on their weathered Valkyrie releases. The effect on the feet was old school dry brushing, but I used the paint from my silver Gundam marker. Pump some paint out of the marker into a pallete, take out the old stuff brush and off to work.
  8. I really should have done it that way, but I just couldn't lock it into get walk the same way as the Arcadia. Ended up all floppy because I couldn't get the wing roots to lock into the body. I used Gundam real touch markers. I think it was mostly grey for all the light parts. Wiped off easily and left and nice darkened area across the panel lines and edges as well as fill in the panel lines. The dry brushing on the darker areas was Gundam marker silver then followed up with real touch black marker to tone back the silver. That stickered Arcadia YF-19 you posted looks amazing. I'm looking forward to completing the application of all the stickers to mine. Panel lining and weathering also very nice and subtle.
  9. Nice tip. I will try that out next week.
  10. I got a bit lazy with this as I had only planned to display in battroid mode. I started to weather in fighter mode, but as it's a little fiddly in fighter mode trying to weather all the parts was a little tricky, so decided to completely transform and complete the weathering in the mode of would be displayed in. I think if this was transformed back to fighter mode there would be some clean areas LOL. I'll have to bring my DSLR with macro lens so I can take some better photos to highlight the details.
  11. Thanks guys. The more I'm working on the Arcadia the more I appreciate the attention to detail in the panel lining on the Bandai. It matches the Hasegawa kit much closer. A pity the tampo is overkill, but from a distance it looks amazing. I'm hoping the Arcadia will really pop once the stickering is complete (so many NO STEP stickers...)
  12. My weathered and panel lined VF-19 Advance is completed! Posed at my work desk. It'll be accompanied by my wounded Arcadia YF-19 once I've finished stickering it, and applying the clear coat.
  13. Good point! In the Arcadia YF-19 marking guide it says to put keep clean markings there. Maybe they became vectoring thrusters in the VF version as the Bandai VF-19 Adv has markings that say caution blast or something similar.
  14. It begins!!!!! Starting to trim the stickers and add them to my wounded YF-19. My goodness it is time consuming.
  15. It's okay. I managed to glue it back to the position it needs to be in for standard fighter mode. I clamped it for 24 hours and checked it today. Was pretty solid. It just means it can never move again as there is no more pivot action between the 2 metal arms. I was very upset when it happened, but now it's not so bad since the plan was always to display in fighter mode only. I had 2nd thoughts to not put my 2nd up for sale here (to fund my VF-0A pre order), but put alot of effort into weather this one, and need that little bit extra money.
  16. you guessed correctly. I had taken a break from weathering it on the dinner table, but my little son decided to be climb happy around the dinner table, so before he could get to it I decided to move it into the study and away from his curious little hands. I foolishly put it on the shelf completely unbalanced and with the wings still extended. I leave the study and close the door sit down on the sofa and hear a crash.... It had dropped from less than half a metre, and the wing was bent at the joint. I gave it a little bent to see if I could straight it out, and snap.... wing broken.... My wife says I break all my new toys that I get almost straight away, and she's not half wrong... I've had my 2 YF-19s in the boxes for over a year and just recently took them out because of the VF-19Adv. Can't believe I broke it so soon too. Well at least I did get to transform it once which was when I first received it from HLJ last year.
  17. So this happened to mine over the weekend.... Very upset, but more so at Arcadia for using such small fragile diecast for these parts. I've had to glue the metal bars back into a fixed pose so the wing is now attached again, but it'l only ever see fighter or gerwalk mode now, which isn't so bad as I had planned on having this in fighter anyway - I prefer the Bandai VF-19Adv in battroid over the Arcadia YF-19. Ahh well...
  18. Video review was great. Nice work. Also I did not know the knee cap did that. Haha. I'll have to get in there and dry brush the inner sections now.
  19. Thanks guys. It was a little scary to do it, but happy how it came out. I just started on the Arcadia YF-19, and the panel lines are so shallow and there is just so much less detail. Mickyg, once it's on display at work I'll PM you and you can come check it out up close
  20. Okay here is a WIP photo i took earlier in the week. 1 leg untouched, 1 mostly weathered and panelled. No dry brushing. This is pretty much the finished work, but missing mr topcoat flat. Once the weekend weather is a bit better, I'll topcoat it and it'll be displayed proudly at work in a "super dynamic" pose Next job is to do the same to my Arcadia YF-19, but display it in fighter along side the VF-19 Adv. Hopefully the weathering evens out the different colour between the 2 toys.
  21. I've almost finished the weathering on my (just a little bit of dry brushing in some areas) and I'll be applying some Mr Topcoat flat, but weather is Melbourne is too cold right now. I was planning on doing it over the weekend, but forecast is rain rain and more rain.... I haven't had any tampo/paint rubbing/flaking off yet, and I handled it a lot while panel lining and weather it.
  22. the entire HLJ team went to US for AX... no one left in the office to add all the new Bandai pre orders. LOL XD
