  1. Reminder for all Aussie collectors you cannot purchase direct from Amazon Japan any longer as all international Amazon stores will NOT ship to Australia, because they don't to collect tax for the Australian government all the paperwork related to tax reporting for the ATO. You can only purchase through Amazon AU.

All I want is a VF-1S Roy, either Movie Strike, or TV Super.

    Correction. That should be:
VF-1S DYRL Strike Roy or VF-1S TV Super Hikaru.

Canonically there isn't a Roy TV Super, as poor Roy foolishly bled to death over a pineapple salad before the Super packs were deployed.

Do we believe that Bandai will release with a VF-1 with Super packs? They just love their web exclusive packs with their DX line. I guess they have included Super/Strike packs with their HMR line, so there is a possibility.

I speculate Bandai will milk us and release a VF-1S Roy naked, and a VF-1S TV Hikaru with Super pack (with only RMS-1 Anti-Ship Reaction Warheads) - the only difference being the pilot figure and the pilot name tampo on the canopy. Followed by a web exclusive ordinance package containing AMM-1s and 4x UUM-7 micro-missile pod.

For the record I would still love Bandai to release a DX VF-1D. It would be amazing if it came with 2 Minmei figures - 1 for sitting in the cockpit with Hikaru, and 1 for being held in the battroid hand. :p

    My dream list:

3x VF-1J for display in each mode
1x Super VF-1S Hikaru displayed in fighter
    1x VF-1D displayed in gerwalk

Maybe a VF-1S Roy in fighter or battroid.

  3. Low chance of Bandai doing VF-1D as a general release. They already have sales performance of the Yamato VF-1D as an expectation of sales. That was around 1/2 the SRP of their DX and it was a shelf warmer. But maybe that was because of the reported flaws in the shoulder.

Best chance would be a Web exclusive release so they can lock the numbers in.

I way missed the boat on this.  I'll pick it up when the inevitable VF-1A/VF-1S is released.  Was the preorder the typical bandai madness of 5 minute window then sold out, or did they provide enough stock this time?

It was pretty decent. Amiami had limit of 2 and lasted for longer than usual.

Most stores lasted longer than normal (except NY as usual).

There was also Amazon JP which had it for very generous price after shipping and lasted a long time.

There is speculation that this will open up again but without the LE fighter mode stand, but nothing so far.

Probably good chance there will be units on release day.

It was still the typical PO madness like for all Bandai premium products.

This. I don't understand it. The original Macross Anniversary already went by but nothing ever came up from Bandai nor Banpresto regarding a figure for Minmay. They could've just used any designs from the Pachinko game or the one they featured in the Sky Tree Artworks.

    Poor Minmay.

It's probably because Macross best girls are still Sheryl and Ranka. Sales data of past Minmei merchandise maybe indicated it would not have been a good business decision. It's unfortunate.

Wouldn't it be the opposite then (since Bandai owns Sunrise and by proxy all Gundam properties, while it has to pay Big West royalties for stuff like the YF-19? So wouldn't that mean the YF-19 should be even more expensive (not that I'm endorsing this )

It would seem logical right? I know from experience that there is a lot of bureaucracy even within the divisions of the same company and it's sister companies. Bandai Namco Arts owns Sunrise (I didn't actually know this), but that doesn't mean Sunrise will provide BNA license to their properties for free - BNA of course does get first negotiation rights for all Sunrise licensing agreements of course (this is my assumption). For example: The Gundam anime license is owned by Sunrise, but even though Sunrise is owned by BNA, the Gundam series is licensed out via Sunrise and not BNA. ;)

  7. I'm undecided if I will apply weathered detailing (real touch markers, and dry brushing). I haven't tried on a completely white surface. Lightest was Arcadia YF-19 base. Light tan is forgiving. White probably not so much, and I wouldn't want it to look overly artificial.

Depends how stunning it looks vanilla.

Also detailing 3 valks... You'll see my work posted here in.... 2025. :p

I still haven't finished my weathered VF-1A CF.

I am really looking forward to see the added articulation the YF-19 release, the VF-19 Advance has really good articulation.

I didn't realise they added greater articulation over the VF-19 Adv.

What was reported to be enhanced?

You just reminded me about the replacement brackets I made on Sculpteo, but it looks like the metal ones aren't available for some reason.  I might have to see about fixing that, or see if they have another material that'll work.

I was thinking about ordering a pair to repair the wing and change the other one. Let me know what happens.

Hey, isn't your neighbor's Evangelion figures that we can see ?  I really need to know what kind of job is yours :)

    Anime industry. ;)

I also prefer the Arcadia YF-19's Fighter over the DX. It's less gappy and smooth on the underside (the head area is better on the DX). Pity I snapped the diecast bar on 1 of the wings on my Arcadia. Need to fix it one day.

The DX has a better Battroid for sure.

Is the YF-19 Panel lined or it is just a case of deep panel lines?

The VF-19 Adv had really nice deep panel lines, so I expect the YF-19 will be the same.

It allowed for some really nice shading on my weathered VF-19 Adv.

I need to take a better set of photos of this. Currently this bad boy is wrapped in bubble wrap from the office move last year.

With Bandai's YF-19 DX, wouldn't it be more likely to see YF-21 DX and VF-11 DX?

and it would be ¥10K cheaper than an Arcadia release, and have more tampo. ¥20K less than Arcadia's potential Macross Plus PF offerings.

  13. I think we would have a better chance of Bandai releasing their own VF-11B,  seeing as Bandai now have the 1:60 Macross Plus license (if their YF-19 Full Pack is any indication). I thought it was established that only 1 licensee can hold the rights to a toy line in a particular scale, which is why Bandai cannot release a VF-1 in 1:60 scale as Arcadia are still holding that license. Does this mean that Arcadia will never release a 1:60 YF-21 now?

Best bet for an Arcadia VF-11 would be the VF-11C from Macross 7. I wonder if they are still holding the Macross 7 license.

Personally I love the VF-11B from Macross Plus. The grey colour with the orange accents are really nice. I also prefer the gunpod over the VF-11C variant. Plus Isamu flew the B. :p

  14. if the Metal Build AILE Strike is anything to go by, you will see preorders opening up again during the week of release - so be ready in February. :p

And yes there is also the local distributors (Bluefin) which will probably supply it to US hobby retailers.

For a big brand like Evangelion, I imagine there will be a lot of interest from western hobby retailers. My feeling is that Evangelion has a larger western audience than Macross or Gundam.

  15. I interpreted that as meaning starting to collect the VF-1 1/48 toy line. Bandai will definitely continue to release more VF-1 in 1/48.
