  1. So much cringe watching that video. Obviously he is not a big fan of Macross / Robotech with the head being backward and the transformation being so sloppy. Such a disservice to an otherwise fantastic looking toy.

The detailing with the panel lining is great. It kind of reminds me of the Tomytec models.

I still dislike those massive upper air intakes, and the leg intakes are also a little bit off.

Again even in the instruction manual they don't show the shoulders being able to be positioned with the wings fully open.

LED gimmick is kind of nice, but I don't feel like it was required. Glowing camera module or gun pod don't come to mind when I think of Macross / Robotech. It's more a giant robot or Gundam thing. Actually the only Macross glowing thing that comes to mind is when Hikaru / Rick was flying through the Shadow Zone of Saturn and all you could see were his lights in fighter mode. Now that is a memorable scene involving glowing lights.

I found it strange that they didn't package the toy in Fighter mode like Bandai and Yamarcadia do. Macross / Robotech valkyries are primarily Fighter planes, and the other 2 modes are their secret weapons. Especially since it's easier to learn to transform from Fighter > Guardian > Batteloid and not the other way around. Then again the Hi Metal R series are all packaged in Battroid right (sorry I'm going off memory, and I also don't own any HMR)?

Wow you have to wait till June to get missles. Is there any place you can preorder with pay later option. I really don't feel like paying upfront when i don't even have the valk yet.

From a friend who has preordered more than 1 set. A really GOOD friend. :p

I don’t think there’s any other service fee with FromJapan

All you have to do is copy and paste the product URL into the main search function in FromJapan. That will bring you into a different page for proxy purchase. Filled in the blanks and within minutes I had an email and then a payment request. I guess the downside is it’s full payment upfront.

What was the unit price they charged you? I assume they add on the local shipping to their warehouse and that’s it.

Payment upfront is the same for all the proxy resellers. The only difference is if you have to pay estimated international shipping upfront ;)

Seems like FJ and AE have the advantage over the others so far. (Except FJ for Aussies is 10% extra on top)

(Unless AUD tanks more over the next 5 months then I will be wishing I paid estimated shipping upfront. LOL).

  4. From Japan might end up being the cheapest if you’re not from Australia and shipping more than 2 units.

if you’re from Australia it will potentially be more  expensive than other proxy stores as From Japan are enforcing the GST collection for Australian customers.

They only charge ¥300 - ¥700 service fee flat rate, but I’m not sure what their payment fee is for purchasing on your behalf. Might be a percentage?

  5. Ordered with AE. I like that I didn’t have to pay shipping until later. AUD is a little weak right now too.

Looks like they charge actual shipping costs too, unlike NY that is always inflated and even on release they have the gall to request additional shipping.

Right, but this is a pretty brazen work by a Chinese company which will be licensed under Robotech (thats the understanding I have).  The Masterpiece garbage was a bit different (and was garbage).

No doubt KitzConcept will be producing this kind of stuff even when the 2021 loss of rights rolls around.

If they continue to produce Macross related toys, Bandai will be raiding and shutting down all their factories like they have been doing to other toy makers from China that are infringing on the Gundam license.

Then again, it's not really Bandai's property or responsibility to stop unlicensed usage of the Macross brand, so just like Valkyrie Factory, they could continue to operate under Big West's nose.

These  look pretty good, but $45 after discount is pretty steep for an action figure...

That being said, a Milia may be required.

Curious about why you feel the price is pretty steep.

Comparing to SH Figuarts and Figmas it’s on point with their pricing and I feel the quality and features is aiming to be the same level as those series of action figures. :)

  8. Just preordered a Rick for the March release. Couldn’t resist the 10% discount and free express shipping.

Local retailer charging $120 AUD for Jan release. <_<

I’m not really an action figure collector (besides having a figma Kirito and Asuna), but these are really looking nice and will look ace with the DX VF-1 series.

Looking forward to more characters! :yahoo:

  9. If anything it shows how easy the DX VF-1 is to play with. You only need 1 hand. I don’t think I can transform my yamarcadia VF-1 toys with 1 hand. :p

I also love that it’s not bright white. Will make weathering it much easier.

  10. I wonder if you’re ordering a large number of TWE items would it be better to go with a proxy service instead of NY, as NY’s shipping is always highly inflated, granted that the proxy service is not also charging inflated shipping.

Also the chance of getting your items from NY has been sketchy for greater than 1 qty TWE item.

  11. I feel if Bandai is releasing a MB of a particular release, and we are able to obtain it first hand from a retailer (not scalp price), we should support Bandai and buy that over a 3rd party release. It's only fair if we've bought the official Bandai version we have the option to also own a 3rd party release of the same toy (unless the original is still available to purchase at SRP - which is highly unlikely for GFFMC / MB releases).

Grey area when it comes to units that Bandai have not announced or different scale.

I was just checking up on my preorder on the VF-1J at HLJ and I noticed something on the summary page.  It says that the Currency Used is YEN.  I'm not using PayPal but instead my credit card.  Is it cheaper, or a good idea, to leave it as YEN or USD?

    HLJ.jpg

Depends if your CC charges currency conversion fees for making a payment in yen.

Personally I always pay in the store’s native currency and let my CC do the currency conversion, as my CC doesn’t have any currency conversion or international transaction fees.

  13. This is one line I’m happy to collect hero units for.

    My list:

    - VF-1J Hikaru in all 3 modes

    - VF-1S Fokker TV in battroid mode

    - VF-1S Hikaru TV in fighter mode with Super packs

    - VF-1D Trainer in gerwalk mode

    maybe:

    VF-1A Max in battroid mode

I probably wouldn’t get the GBP unless it’s released as a bundle with the 1J.
