Just curious, how hard was it to push that door back in that way in the open position?  I tried it on mine, and it just refused to fit in that way without feeling like I was going to break something.

I still was able to get the catapult bar to raise past horizontal, I just had to push the door back against the strut at a slight angle.

Strangely I felt the same on my other ones. It didn’t feel natural to push it back down as there was some resistance. On this one I just thought I’d try a little bit harder, because logically it’s all designed flush when it’s closed so I can’t understand why it wouldn’t recess again when open.

Here might be some build differences between units where the joint isn’t perfectly straight so it catches when open and won’t recess.

I’ll need to try on my other 2. I put them back into the boxes again so I’ll look at them over the weekend.

  2. You may remember I had 1 with a defective wing flap. I have fantastic news.

I contacted Amiami about it and went through the procedure to report defective items. Amiami replaced the item free of charge. They covered the return shipping and shipping of the replacement.

Today I received my replacement and it’s the best one of my 3 units.

I put it through a complete transformation to check for any faults and it looks great! All tampo complete. Joints all working correctly. Wing flaps not defective and no weird scratch markings next to the ordinance slots.

also perfectly straight wings! My other 2 have misaligned wings when folded.

I also wanted to show that the tow bar can in fact be angled more than 90 degrees. Once the front door is open you need to push it back in. There will now be enough clearance. To close, you need to pull the door out again, fold and push it back down.

I’d also like to mention that Amiami were very helpful throughout and very apologetic about the defective item. From the general negative view of Ami’s CS by MWF I was skeptical that they were going to replace my faulty unit once I shipped it back. I honestly thought once they received it, I’d suddenly be told there was no more stock so I would simply be given a refund of store credit. They assured me that a new unit had been reserved for me and would be shipped out upon safe receipt of my defective unit.

It is important to note that during the process I did not request or demand a replacement. Once they confirmed the defect per their T&C they offered me the replacement.

It was very strange they did have a new unit for me even though it was Order Stop. I wonder, Do they have spare units for this kind of thing or does Bandai have spare units to send to retailers should they have warranty claims?

I also wonder what has happened to my defective unit. Will it be sold by Ami as a preowned unit, but still cost more than the SRP (based on current market value)?

  3. One thing that really sticks out for me on the Kitz are the feet in fighter mode. They just don’t close like they should. They’re suppose to get slimmer towards the end when fully closed for fighter, but on the Kitz they’re molded to be a little bit broader toward the ends, so they look larger at the ends when closed.

Definitely Battloid mode was prioritised over Fighter and Guardian. That is probably why it’s displayed in Battloid in the box and the box art.

You’re buying a robot that can transform into a hybrid machine and a fighter jet.

  4. As much as I'd love to see a PF VF-0D or PF VF-4 FB, I would not be able to afford the premium on top of the already expensive Arcadia base price for these toys.

I'll save my money for the inevitable DX VF-1 releases instead.

Wait. Why Robotech's get to have the 'grill' in the backpack at 1/72 scale. And the Bandai's 1/48 scale Macross doesn't? :unknw:

Guess, 1/72 size is bigger to accommodate the grill design? 72 is 'bigger' than 48, right? :spiteful:

But it's not in the line art.

So Bandai really tried to follow the line art closely in that regard, where as all other kits and toys have the grill.

I don’t even see those. Where’s the rest of Walkure in SHF? I want Makina! But if they don’t make them, I’m fine. I’m in this for the Valks. If some good figures are made, just an added bonus.

It must show in the poor sales of Freyja and Mikumo. Bandai just aren’t going to release the rest of Walküre.

  7. As we are talking about pilot figures, I was watching watching Episode 1 again if Bandai release the 1D then it must also come with a Roy figure so you can recreate that 1 scene where Roy is showing Hikaru the 1D.

    list of included figures

    • civilian Hikaru seated

    • red dress Minmei seated

    • red dress Minmei held by battroid hand

    • Roy seated

Speaking of episode 1; would love to see DX 1/48 Fan Racer and Lancer II.

Then if you go down the Fan Racer rabbit hole you have to get 5x VF-1A Angel Birds and recreate the booster climb scene! Haha

Might smarter to buy 5x Hasegawa 1/48 VF-1A Fighter kits and customise them to Angel Bird paint scheme. :p

Just bought some used DX Super Armour set from Mandarake. It came through without any extra tax. Looks like Mandarake business is less than A$75k a year in Australia. A$75k is a threshold for overseas business regarding collection of GST for Australia government.

Yes HLJ price is no longer competitive. I use them less and less as well.

Tht would assuming that Mandarake care about  ATO’s international GST policy. Nippon Yasan is also not adding GST. It’s only the bigger well known stores that have been targeted by ATO.

My understanding is, it’s not just $75K of “Australian” sourced revenue. It’s 75K in total regardless of revenue source. :p

List of hobby places not charging GST that I know of:

    NY

    AE

    BIJ

    Ninnin

    :)

I don't know how I missed this but I just noticed that the VF-1J I have in Gerwalk has the leg fins fitted back to front with the "101" markings showing towards the inner side of the legs!

Mine are all correct on my 3, but on one of mine there is a ghost image of the 101 on the inner side! It's a faint tampo 101. Very mysterious!

  10. Definitely waiting for the 1S, but just want TV version, so 1 for Roy and 1 for Hikaru with Super packs.

If they never release a TV 1S Hikaru, then I’d resort to making my own with a decal for the canopy and taking a spare Hikaru pilot from my 1J battroid.

I feel if they haven’t released TV 1S Hikaru for HMR there is probably zero chance for DX.

  11. It's not even draw in the animation, so not sure if there is an official UN SPACY gun pod printing orientation. Master files?

    1. Arms that pop out during fighter mode. I tried to shift all the parts into place with care and ease but the darn right arm just keeps popping out. I thought it was misaligned but that wasn’t the case. Every time I put in place it just shoots the are away.

I was looking again at my 3rd one at work to check for any more defects besides the wing flap, and discovered more about the arms locking to the fighter chest tabs.

It's also related to the shoulders and how they are rotated on the ball joints. If they aren't in the correct position, then the pressure of the shoulder will exert enough force to push the arm of the chest tab. I tested this a few times and it worked after adjusting the shoulder positioning.

You need to pull the arm back on the rail so and then move the shoulder on the ball joint so that it wants to points upwards (against the bottom of the fighter). Straighten up the elbow and forearm, and then slide back until the tab lines up with the socket. Now when you press the arm into the tab it will lock in tight.

I liked the right side up & down UNSPACY.   Sure it wasn't correct but it looked correct in Battroid.

I'm not sure if it's correct either way. I can't find a definitive answer to what is the official orientation. UN SPACY isn't shown on any of the official artwork. I assumed Hasegawa would be conclusive source, but even they do it different depending on the mode of their model kit. Readable orientation for Battroid and Gerwalk, and also for Fighter mode.
