Hehehe... I think Miriya meant the avatar with the animation of the judo fighter going boom... Best idea ever. That way you could cosplay with the human figures, hehehe... Yes... Also a 1/100 cheaper version pleaseee.... In different colors and styles... Including the Neo-Glaug...
-
Yes... It would be great to have a big version capable of holding some Power suits inside, hehe... I also just had this idea... What about a Macross themed chess board with Zentradi and UN Spacy ships as chess pieces?
-
Hey! At least is fully variable! Btw... Any Lego Zentradi mecha or ships out there?
-
I know. Man... there are so many valks out there that despite being super cool and all I'm kinda becoming bored with them, hehe. I wish there were toys based on the Zentradi power armors from Macross and DYRL... In all their different colors...
-
Really? Are there more Zentradi toys in the making already?
-
I wish there were Yamaguchi Revoltech toys made of all the Zentradi mecha from the original Macross. Also of their variations from DYRL. The Regult was excellent, but I want more hostile mecha and less valkyries... What do you think?

That's a parody of the the nipper logo... u know... the one with a gramophone and a dog... -
That was Wizu Corporation's wish. The Studio Nue staff (Kawamori et. al.) always went for the Space Opera... Thank God Wizu went bankrupt and Big West ended up working with Nue. Also according to the liner notes of the AnimEigo DVD release of the Macross TV series "Gunsight One was the fanzine title of the Gundam fan club that creator Shoji Kawamori, character designer Haruhiko Mikimoto, and writer Hiroshi Oonogi (members number 1, 2, and 3 of said club) founded while they were students at Keio University in Japan...". Btw... I wonder if there exists more official art or even fan art (new or old) of the Daedalus II?

I found this one at Daanboru. I already posted a smaller version of it here. I wish there was a sample with bigger resolution... -
AFAIK, Gunsight One was also the name of a Gundam fan club the Macross staff belonged to... I mean... Shoji was like... What? 20 years old? I bet he was a member also... He was/is a Gundam fan. I've heard he also was/is a Space Battleship Yamato fan...
-
Nice. However, I'm more interested in the mecha designs for the movie...
-
Like this one? Btw... I wonder if there are any art books with the Daedalus II design in them... Will the Macross Chronicle include information about this ship? I saw the VF-2SS in it...
-
Err... AFAIK, Shoji Kawamori and Mikimoto were Gundam fans. The original design of the SDF-1 was a modified big White Base that turned into a gigantic Gundam... The first VF-1 prototypes made by Kawamori were called "Breast" fighters and had lots of Gundam in them...

The Macross 7 design was awesome. The new UN Spacy ships were awesome. The VF-17 was awesome. The Varauta ships and mecha were awesome. And they were different to anything shown before (yes, not even Robotech, LOL). I you didn't like them, bad for you. Like I said before, in anime everything is possible. Btw, the U.N. Spacy of both continuities considers them a threat. That's why they developed big armies that even had Zentradi soldiers in them in those continuities...

Kouichi Ohata's specialty are non-canon valkyries. I suppose the Daedalus II was created by either Junichi Akutsu or Jun Okuda then... from the original Daedalus design by Kazutaka Miyatake.
-
Not every kewl looking ship in Macross was made by Shoji, u know? AFAIK Kawamori's specialty are valkyries. In the original SDF Macross Kazutaka Miyatake designed the original SLV-111 Daedalus (as well as most Zentradi and UN Spacy ships, some Zentradi mecha, the UN Spacy Destroids and the SDF-1). Btw, Kawamori designed a valkyrie specifically for a Japanese Pc game... Maybe Miyatake did the same for Macross 2036... Poor Miyatake... many people don't give him the credit he deserves. No wonder he's been called "The silent backbone of Studio Nue"...

Despite not being a Kawamori creation the OVA series had a great production staff. I found the story pretty simple and not as good as the one from the original series or DYRL, but it still was an ok Macross series. I just hope one day Kawamori changes his mind and trolls us all again by making it part of the official continuity, hehe... Duh, because I liked Macross 7? I used to hate the show, BUT after I watched It entirely I changed my mind completely. Why? Because It had nice /m/ designs (however, I still don't like the faces of the Fire Bomber valks) and it also showed characters from the original SDF TV series and movie. It also had valks straight from Plus, what made it even more cool. Is the same thing with Frontier or Mac II for me... there are elements in all the series produced after SDFM that I don't like that much, but I still tolerate them because what I like the most is the mecha... Well, there were a couple games for the Turbo Duo, Macross 2036 and Macross Eternal Love Song which had awesome designs, original characters from Mikimoto and were set in the same alternate universe of Mac II (many years before the Mac II OVA). In one of those games Komilia Fallyna Jenius even appeared as a supporting character. An alternate Macross universe series based on those games would be awesome...

Despite all the ecchi-moe-bishonen stuff I loved Frontier. Why? Because it had awesome designs, awesome sequences and because it was Macross... If I could tolerate the little things I didn't like to enjoy the show, why can't you?
