Err... I read somewhere that one of the main reasons for M7 success in Japan was the fact that during that time (the 90s) there were lots of Fire Bomber type bands in the entertainment scene there... Those were the popular things back then. Right now is more about pop divas and stuff I believe, ergo the success of Sheryl and Ranka...

Macross that you haven't watched but you know you must?
Kronnang Dunn replied to taksraven's topic in Movies and TV Series
I used to think both Macross II and 7 weren't that good. But after watching them I liked the designs a lot. Also, right now I'm a Guitar Hero/Rockband freak... and I just realised that Basara from 7 had a guitar controler in his valkyrie!!! (nearly a decade before it was invented). I haven't seen Macross Dynamite 7 completely and some episodes of Macross 7. Yeah, I know I should... You should. Its got pretty good non-Kawamori designs. Koichi Ohata and the other designers did a good work creating new Valkyries/Destroids. The battleships also look very good. There are 2 old Pc Engine games that are prequels to the alternate continuity of Mac II and also have very good mecha and character designs. -
Thoughts on the SDFM aftermath episodes

Actually I believe Kawamori's attitude toward canon is very practical. By not making any version the official one he is leaving an universe of possibilities open for future projects. Besides, I like the fact he dedicates completely to re-invent/create new concepts for each Macross project. That way he keeps them pretty fresh, interesting and innovative...

Sacrificing thousands (if not millions) of unique sentient living beings (and almost a whole planet) in the process? Not rational at all... Grace's too wicked for being cool... Too obsesive for human... Too mad for a flawless A.I.... AFAIK Grace's only motivation behind her every move/plan/whatever was her mad obsession of becoming superior to the Protoculture and achieving what they couldn't. Vajra, humans and Zentradi were just obstacles for her, so she decided to kill/control them all. That's pretty crazy if you ask me...

BABEL FISH TRASLATION: [terebishirizu] boldly when the continuation after the same time serial 25 stories as the television is written feeling basic, new work cutting keeps being inserted those which it has been about to store to [makurosu] theater edition 2 hours, reconstructed in the base it is harsh in the new audience. Instead, there is a possibility of keeping inserting into the story which reconstructed the fact that it is close to the continuation. Theater in edition the television compared to you try raising alto. Alto the parenthesis is good little bit, [ranka] is lovelier, [shieriru] is fascinating simultaneously with smartness it attached. To be disliked in the television series, in regard to [shieriru], because it was [kiyara] last, it is difficult to rework. Does this mean the movie is going to be a DYRL retelling with a conclusion to the story left unfinished in the TV series? (the destiny of Galaxy Island and stuff?)

Err... actually (and according to Kawamori himself) that "complexity" was just sheer utter madness. She was simply your typical crazy scientist stereotype... The Galaxy staff were even more evil since they used her for their means (this was also revealed by Kawamori). All that beauty and coolness was merely a facade. A mask. She was just more machine than human (HAL 9000 type)... twisted an evil.

Do you ever imagine real-world things into macross?
Kronnang Dunn replied to Vepariga's topic in Movies and TV Series
In the vicinity of the city where I live there is this wacky/odd looking mountain. Sometimes I imagine it has a Zentradi/SA ship crashed on it... Thx sir!!! -
Are Macross fans as self-hating as Star Wars fans?
Kronnang Dunn replied to Sketch's topic in Movies and TV Series
Just like real life soda vending machines... Actually those games weren't that bad at all (For the average Macross/mecha fan at least). Even M3... Btw, u forgot to mention the Macross Scrambled Valkyrie SNES game, the Macross 2036 and Macross Eternal Love Song PC Engine games, the Macross/Macross II/Macross Plus Arcade games, the DYRL PS1/Saturn game, the Macross Plus Game Edition PS1 game and the Macross Valkyrie Overdrive for the Pc... I'm still waiting for a new Macross Ace Frontier version for the PS2. Dammit Kawamori!!! We need more Macross games!! How about a new VF-X3 game for the PS3/XBOX360/Pc? -

You don't play videogames it seems... -
I always thought the Kawamori interview (where he said the real Macross was somewhere between the TV series and the real world 1984 DYRL) was made during an event promoting Macross Plus in the US that happened in an anime convention in the mid 90s... Also... I think somebody in this boards recently posted from Kawamori himself that the in-universe DYRL is not the same real world 1984 DYRL... (just like the in-universe Macross Zero movie from Frontier is not the same real world Macross Zero OVA).

The only thing I hate of Macross right now is the lack of more Macross right now... -
-
Actually it doesn't confuse me at all. Quite the contrary, it makes sense since as far as I know Kawamori himself said in an interview during the 90s that the real Macross lies somewhere between both DYRL and the TV series. I can't wait for the next Macross project to be a re-make of the original TV series with both original and DYRL designs... (A TV/OVA adaptation of ''Macross: The First'' perhaps?)...

Maybe the Megaroad 01 people discovered them and in order to avoid more destruction they simply stopped communicating with NUNS High Command and are currently living among them... -

CVS-101 Prometheus Class Submersible Carrier
Kronnang Dunn replied to Cyclone Trooper's topic in Movies and TV Series
I re-watched the original 1982 Macross TV series and in the episode set after Captain Global orders the fold he tells Misa (who can't contact anyone in the folded sea carriers) that he fears the worse since both the Prometeus and the Daedalus weren't made for space operations. Does this mean that the original crew of the carriers died due to exposure to space vacuum? -

The official Macross F site has new information and images related to numbers 21 and 22 of the Macross Chronicle... Number 22 has lots of information on the different gunpods used by the different valkyrie models up to the VF-25 and VF-27 from Macross Frontier. Number 21 has a Macross II valkyrie on the cover... and an article on Silvie Gena. This number also has lots of information regarding all the different full armor valkyries ever made, including Ozma's Full Armor VF-25...
