  1. A lot of people gave up on Doctor Who when it returned in 2005. You know what, they were welcome to do so if you wanted. I enjoy the new stuff but I can accept that not everybody else does. No big deal. Same goes with the new Evangelion films, some old fans like them, others don't. Same goes for Star Wars and so on and so on....... I challenge any maker of popular entertainment to create an entertainment "product" (note the use of that word) that is still popular with all of its fans for thirty years. Impossible? I think so. You are getting worked up by an entertainment "product". Why bother?
  2. A review for Mass Effect 3. One of the best reviews of a computer game EVAR!!!!
  3. Ok. So now we can speculate even more. The mission to this planet is due to symbols found in the archaeology of different Earth civilisations. They mistakenly believe that these symbols are an invitation but in reality would appear to have a more malevolent purpose. They discover an alien "base" on the planet. (probably where the giant head is located) The base contains the space jockey's ship. The Space Jockeys ship takes off, tries to go to Earth, is rammed by the Prometheus and crash lands. (Anybody disagree with that?) So, proper speculation. I think that this will essentially be "The Quatermass Conclusion", with aliens sowing the seeds of humanity on another world, then coming back to "harvest" when our population reaches a large size. In this case, I think that the "harvest" was meant to be earth seeded with Xenomorph eggs to create some sort army under the control of the space jockey's race. I still think that we are going to see a proper Xenomorph in this, due to the fact that a chestburster has clearly gotten to him before the first Alien film. Fighting this first alien will probably be the climax of the film. After that, I think that Ridley will do his own sequel to the original "alien" that will continue this timeline of events, ignoring Jim Cameron's "Aliens".
  4. RIP indeed. His work had a MASSIVE influence on all SF after ANH. A true legend.
  5. Indeed, RIP, BUT. Thanks to the Beatles we have had nearly every cool band that has come along since 1963. Thanks to the Monkee's, we now have "Idol" and "The Voice" etc..... Discuss.
  6. So sad. *sigh* this time last week I was at The Wall being performed by Roger Waters. Wish I could see it twice again.....
  7. Fark me, it looks like it is goin to be friggin AWESOME!!!!!!
  8. And, um yeah......the 90's.........
  9. Vastly underrated band that should have been 90's icons.......... This clip has everything you could want in a 90's clip including high contrast B&W footage, quick cuts, overuse of the smoke machine, bored looking Flamenco dancers and sheep. You can't go wrong.....
  10. A much better 90's Icon.......
  11. I think that quote was to head off speculation that he would ever make Star Wars chapters VII, VIII, and IX, which we know have been rumored since the late 70's early 80's. Time will tell.
  12. I liked it. It fitted in with all of the other different and conflicting versions of Hitch-hikers.
  13. That's the sort of Hollywood mentality that killed a second Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy film. Profit, but not ENOUGH profit to justify a second. Accountant morons.......
  14. How much has Giger made out of the Alien series I wonder. I hope he didn't design the awful Hybrid from the Alien:Resurrection.
  15. I am wearing mine right now.......
  16. OK, Some REAL AUSSIE RAWK with the low budget, lo-fi sounds of THE BAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (That's SPIDERBAIT to the unitiated......)
  17. Yeah, but when you look at the list of top grossing films you can see that it is dominated by SF, Fantasy and Comic Book films, and "cookie-cutter drama's" are pretty much nowhere to be seen...... (Unless you want to count Titanic and Forrest Gump as "cookie cutter drama's", which they are not)
  18. I'm sure that Tim and Eric would do an interesting take on Robotech.......
