  1. OK, since you guys brought this up, it reminded me of something that's always bugged me about M+. The fact that Isamu and Guld pretty rip up massive chunks of city during their dog-fight. That could not have gone over too well. Just my randon $0.02
  2. wicked ... i can put my bachelor of mathematics degree to some good use... let X = the number of boys let Y = the number of girls we know X / (X+Y) = .4 Solve for X to get X = (2/3)Y by multiplying both sides by the denominator (X+Y). we know X + 3 = Y so plug in the value of X we derived above to get (2/3)Y + 3 = Y and solve to get: Y = 9 plug Y=9 back into X + 3 = Y to get X + 3 = 9 to get X =6 So X = 6, Y = 9. check: X / (X+Y) = 6/15 = .4 and Y / (X+Y) = .6 and X +3 = Y
  3. WOW!! That perfect change Getter Robo is one of the coolest mechs i've ever seen ... anyone know how much those go for / how hard they are to find?
  4. I love the inconsistency at airports - at laguardia last week, i got id'ed using my work ID badge going through the security gate. I actually had my passport in my hand about to hand it to the security person, and she said 'no its ok - I can use that ID'. I actually sent an e-mail to Laguardia's general e-mail address asking it that was SOP. Haven't heard anything yet. What a joke.
  5. What the hell? Why are ppl bashing Yamato so much? Bottom line is this, you don't like it don't buy it. At the time, we all loved the M+ toys because 1) they were M+ toys and 2) someone actually had the guts to make some good high quality M+ VFs. And yes, they are high quality. They had good articulation, good metal content and aside from a few QC issues, they are quite solid - all four of my M+ valks are still in great shape (19, 19A, 11 and 21 - All first version valks! And at the time, we all loved the 1/60 line. We praised the sculpt and although some ppl did bemoan the detachable legs, we agreed that the lack of swingbars was nice. So I feel that comparing the 1/60s to an $8 transformer from wal-mart is quite unfair. As for the QC issues of the 1/48, well, given the fact that they are far more complex than any other VF, I think the amount of QC issues encountered has been pretty good... I've had four, and the only problem I've had is a cracked part when I forced it in the wrong direction. And its not like Yamato has just kept releasing the same buggy product. There have been improvements on nearly every version. Rant over.
  6. Yeah, i figured this would be out there by now, but since i didn't see it on the first page ...
  7. Found this cool 3D model of Soundwave dancing to a transformers theme remix... damn cool. Link
  8. En Vogue man!!! get your early 90's bands straight!!!
  9. OK - i gotta ask. Why? 32 of essentially the same toy is kinda ridicuolous. No, scratch that, 32 of the same toy is ridiculous. I'm all for having a hobby, but to me that's way overboard.
  10. How long was it between sub / dub treatment for M+ and its release in Japan? I know the subbed movie version was released first over here (yuk... VHS) and then the subbed DVDs a couple of yrs after that.
  11. Yeah, I forgot to add this to my first post.... HAHAHAHA
  12. Is there an english dubbed / subbed version of M0 yet? I know its prob been asked and answered a few times - call me lazy.
  13. I've been thinking more and more lately before I plunk down another $100+ for the latest and greatest toy... especially since we moved into the house. My sol'n has been to eBay off all the crap around the house - all the CDs are up for grabs and anything else that I haven't touched in yrs or likely won't ever again have been going up for auction. I feel less guily for spending money in my PayPal account - it doesn't feel like real money Helps the guilt. Trading has also helped.

    Dilemma...

Guys... I keep reading the posts on this thread and I can't believe there is a two page discussion on how Vostok can spare selling a toy to pay for something he needs. So I'm gonna come out and say it: IT'S A FRIGGIN' TOY!!! Man alive, I just sold a predaking for 200US to a friend who'ed been eyeing it for over a year. I probably (definitely) could've made more on eBay, but the guy was happier than a pig in sh*t when he got it. Why did I sell it? I needed the money for an Aeron chair for the home office - the toy sure as hell wasn't gonna make my back feel any better, nor did I feel like plunking the entire purchase on my CC and taking the interest hit there, nor going into my line(s) of credit. Sometimes you just gotta prioritize! And you know what? I don't miss the PK at all.

    Dilemma...

It's a toy.. its pretty simple: just sell the damn thing. It sounds like you NEED the money - do you NEED the toy?
  16. I just got the Bandai SOC Gaiking... that thing is pretty sweet.
  17. I gotta tell ya, I see a lot of Angle's influence when I see either Benjamin or Haas work... looks like being part of Team Angle paid off for these two. I'm still waiting for one of them (probably Benjamin) to bust out the run-up-the-corner-ropes belly to belly suplex ala Kurt.
  18. That's cool - now they need to bust out the rest of Force Five.
  19. Cool - its been intriguing me now for a while... I've been thinking about getting one... must... resist... urge.... I'll probably just give in like usual
  20. Cool - thanks for the info... any idea on what fair price is? The only one that shows up on eBays completed items search went for $202 MIB. Is that about right? I'm not seeing too many of these guys, so I'm guessing they are somewhat hard to find.
  21. I'm looking for some information about the large Mospeada cyclones. Here's a link: Link Basically, I'm looking for the following: When were they made? I've only seen the Stig (Stik) figure, are the Red and Blue variants too? What's a good price for these things? This thing is really starting to grow on me... I'm thinking its really cool. Any info you got is greatly appreciated - thanks!
  22. Yf19 V1.0 - 150 Audi A4 - I try not to think about it, but man is it fun to drive!
  23. I dunno .... i can't help but be underwhelmed when I see that thing .. especially for $10 less than the cost of a 1/48... it's really not doing it for me. At best I think it should be selling for $50.
  24. My friends and I have had this conversation over lunch so many times Basically we've talked about all of the same thing you guys have mentioned: The too episodic nature of the storylines The lack of (lasting) character development Too much filler - see Transporter Accident eps The ruining of the Borg And my biggest personal beef - everything ALWAYS works out, just by doing the right thing!! With these points in mind, what we've come up with is a "covert Ops" type of star trek series. Tell the story of the ppl that do things behind the scenes that make it possible for caption X to do the "right thing" and have it work out. These are the guys that are experimenting and using the cloaking device, the meta-genic weapons. These are the guys that do not work within the constraints of the Prime Directive. I think you could do some really good stuff with this. Character development, which is sorely lacking on all star trek series, could be really well done - you could have the characters who have no problems with what they need to do to maintain the federation, as well as the character who is reluctantly acting out of a sense of duty. If they really wanna get serious about characters, Paramount might wanna think about stealing some writers away from something like E.R. They're characters are fantastic - engaging, FLAWED and evolving - in short - they are human - not whatever the hell ST has been serving up for years. This could also explaing why the Borg / cardassians / Klingons / Romulans have never been able to get a decisive win over the Federation. So, what do you think?
