just so there is no misunderstanding: when i said sheryl was a class act, i did not mean she would just be acting that it's ok alto flies with ranka. rather i meant class act = A+ character, ie that she's mature and selfless enough not to deny alto his joy of flying despite it coming at the expense of losing out to a rival. sheryl must really have genuine feelings for alto... and for that, i'm changing my avatar until we get to the next sheryl-on-top episode

probably why it's black and white. come to think of it, the appearance of the SDF-1 in this series should NOT have been a surprise when one considers the MF series is an anniversary homage. what sort of homage would it be if it didn't pay its dues to the titular figure in one form or another?

actually, though sheryl feels really bad about not flying with alto herself, she probably would've approved of ranka flying with alto to realize her gift. she's a class act, that sheryl the last ep thread was 15pages before it got unpinned. this thread looks like its going to hit that mark under 24 hours. of course a lot of it is due to "WTF, it's the SDF-1!" , so allow me to chime in myself: WTF!!!!

speaking of shattering, did anybody else notice that when the VF-27 lost its leg in ep9, it looked more like it shattered than got blown off? shattering is usually associated with materials of crystalline or lattice structures. they can be very strong (eg. diamonds) while being light, but when they reach their limit they fail catastrophically by shattering (rather than bending or breaking, and usually in whole sections rather than just at the stress point). pretty sure crystalline materials have high compressive strength, but can't recall whether it was their weakness in tensile or shear strength which limits their applicability as a building material. in any case, i was wondering if overtech solved this and are using them on VF armor, well at least for the VF-27. could explain the exceptional acceleration of the purple fighter.

hmmm... let's see , the 4 legs (or feet joints) when splayed will resemble the chassis on the CnC3 mammoth tank, and the cheyenne's got 2 sets of gun arms, again like the double barreled mammoth...

you don't need to bust out of the gravity well to remain in space. you just need to be in an orbital trajectory.

i'm liking the wheels on the cheyenneII. i suppose it has a "rolling" mode where the legs fold into a tank like configuration ala some of the mechs in armored core. RC cheyenne, anyone?
