Dude, **I know** they were homages and still didnt like the idea, it was just plain silly, if other people think it was clever and cool to have another Misa, Writhai and Exsedol. so be it, I think otherwise.

If I ever see another clone rather a new character in a new series, or a rehashed scene. I think I will be so disapointed I would be forever stuck with the originals SDFM and DYRL and would never watch another macross series again. I mean, Frontier went a little too much with the clones (Writhai, Exsedol, Kamjin, Misa, etc,etc) and rehashed scenes (like saving ranka from a valkyre or the pineapple salada v2 scene ).

A Robotech movie? So it will the bastardization of a bastardization, it will be fun to watch. Let the Robocrap fans swallow that... Besides, being a Hollywood production, It will be funny to see who they cast, will it be Lindsey Lohan or Paris Hilton for "Lisa"? Sounds craptastic!!!

Very late post, but I finally had the time to watch the entire series. I was wondering what is basis for your rating guys? This is mine: 10 means better than SDF:M or at least the same level, SDF:M should be an standard for 10 8 means it was great and watchable repeteadly, but not as good as SDFM 6 means it was just good, to be watched once in a while 4 means it was bad, but fun, you know like "it is so bad its fun" 2 = craptastic So I gave the series an 8. What was good for me: The mechas, its great to see the Koening Monster again. The scrambles have never been better. The music, great as always The Vajras, they are really badasses Grace kicks ass, great villain. KlanKlan and Nanase The Zentradis playing a role in a war, with their Queadluun-Raus. totally awesome. The Zentradi Mall. WHat was bad; It was a "happy" Macross, kind of like M7 without the goofiness, I was expecting a darker Macross, like SDF:M or M+ The highschool thing, I really hate that. I know Hikaru and Max were teenagers but they didnt use those ridiculous ties. Too many homages ( whats with the Misa Hayase, Whritai, Exsedol and Kamjin clones anyway?). Lack of more rogue Zentradis, taking revenge over what happened to that Zentradi fleet. Lack of more information regarding the Galaxy fleet, who lives inside Grace? The Whole galaxy population? Ranka is not as cute as Mylene. There are still no flying cars in 2059 In summary, Macross Frontier is a great series to watch. I would place it second behind SDFM, besides M+.

Seikan Hikou is the best but I thinkits not in the list

SDFM I laughed when that captain that was temporarly replacing Cpt. Gloval hits his head at the door. The whole Zentradi spies thing is way too funny. When Max rescues Hikaru, Misa and Kakizaki, and he places Misa and Hikaru in the same place, lol. When Bodolza is watching that movie and he think its real. In episode 1. when Excedol and Writhai are astonished watching a couple of destroyed Zentradi vessels in the monitor, its funny to watch their faces when realizing we had reaction weaponry. Watching Hikaru getting his Vf-1 moving and crashing over Minmay's roof got me an smile too. DYRL When Misa bitchslaps Hikaru after he kisses her.

RT's intro was ok, yeah just OK. Everything else about RT music is plain crap. SDFM's intro was great. How can you guys compare a synth with an orchestra?

IIRC one of the first scenes Macross Plus OVA Ep 1 has a training dogfight. Thats cool too.

Well if the remake is not going to happen, at least they should try repainting the Varauta army valks in a remastered edition. I mean, they are pink! I know the pilots were like zombies and they didnt care, but still, it should be embarrasing to pilot a pink valk. Of course, If I had thousands of zombie minions like the protodevlins had, I would make fun of them, I would have them wear ridiculous wigs or would order them to learn some coregraphic steps, and so on just for fun, but I would definitely not make them pilot pink Valks... hum wait a minute, oh man those protodevlins were really evil.

I think Macross 7 has a great background story, but there is just too much comedy in it. The protodevlins, the evil series story, the varauta army, I think its an overall cool plot, but the sound force and basara singing in all the battles is kind of a turn off. What do you guys think? 6 or 7 OVAs could have this story straight.

The zentradi that jumps over Hikaru, Misa, Kakizaki and Max when they come out of the elevator inside the Zentradi ship, just to get blasted by the overheated VF-1.

WHy is Miria Farina Jenius not in the list? She songs too, at karaoke bars and she even sings in one chapter, I think its one of the encore chapters I want to vote for her

Really good. I always felt bad about the Zentradis because they became consumers after being warriors. And some of them even become unemployed, sad ending for them.

I have two thoeries regarding the Supervision Army, kind of agree with what people have said before in this thread: Theory Number 1 Maybe someone has pointed this out before, but according to Macross 7, the Protoculture was split in two. One side created the Zentradis. The other side created 7 Demons who where later possesed by the Protodevlin. Lets not forget that before the protodevlins came into scene, there was already a war: ProtocultureSide1+Zentradis vs ProtocultureSide2 I remember Max Jenius making a comment about how stupid the Protoculture was, having a war among theirselves. ANyway, I guess the Supervision Army is composed mostly of people who were originally fighting the Zentradis, so after the Protodevlins were sealed. the SUpervision Army folks started doing what they were already doing before the Protodevlins appeared, fingthing the Zentradis. Theory number 2 After the protodevlins were sealed. The Zentradis were reluctant to believe the Supervision Army were no longer a threat to them. So they were determined to exterminate them. The SUpervision Army had no other chance than starting a defensive war and run across the galaxy from such tremendous foe. Maybe the Zentradis harbour a lot of grudge for the SA. Kind of what Macross 7 people felt about the Varauta Army. So the Zentradis were not really into the mood of forgetting and forgive; and they were not genetically engineered to forgive enemies, but to exterminate them.

Hello people, this is my first post. I must say I completly agree with the OP. SDF Macross is by far the best of the whole Macross franchise. And actually I wish all the sequels didnt exists, they are not even half as good as the original. I liked the original Macross Universe, not the one that Kawamori has been doing ever since. I liked the idea of a great scale war between Zentradis and the Supervision Army. I dont like the idea of Meltrans and Zentrans at war, they are supposed to be on the same side damnit. They just dont mingle with each other, period! I dont like the idea of forgetting about the Supervision Army thing altogether. The Macross is a Supervision Army ship, not a Meltran ship! I liked the idea of cold hearted Zentradis that come into shock because of listening to a nice woman voice singing. I dont like the idea of a sound force that is measured in Chiba units, that comes out from specific people possesing the Force, I mean Anima Spirita. That is sooooo stupid. I liked the idea a flying machines transforming into robots so they can aim at foes as a human beings would when standing up. And you know, because they are supposed to fight giant enemies. But, I dont like the idea of robots having faces, I mean WTF are those Sound Force robots with faces, let alone the pink female robot, what the hell was that? Mazzinger Zeta´s girlfriend on space? I liked the idea of Zentradis being basically the same as Humans, but gigantic. That makes sense, they can become spies among us when becoming micloned. I liked the idea that most of them were better looking than us, like Millia and any other female Zentradi shown in SDF. I dont like the idea that when Zentradis become micloned they are taller than us, and they all have light-gray skin, what the hell is that? They are supposed to look like us when shrinking damnit! And can somebody please explain me how can someone sing, play guitar and FLY a VF-19 at the same time? GEEZ!! I think we are lucky Basara didnt dance as well, you know, "hey look at my dance!!! can you see me dancing huh? huh? I want to make that montain move with my dancing!" Oh and space whales? give me a break MF looks promising though.
