  1. Wow... cool news, Shawn! A great way to help contribute to the site and get some killer Macross fan stuff to boot. Looking forward to hearing more about it.
  2. Not much of a surprise here... Only 3 months 'til San Andreas...
  3. How does the sex change explain anything? It's not as though he made Neo realize he's really a woman trapped inside a man's body, trapped inside the matrix. Nah... it has nothing to do with gender changing... it's just bad moviemaking. Men, women, and even RuPaul can do it with ease.
  4. This is getting sick. Before long you guys will be begging for a complete season by season full release of a remastered Mama's Family featuring audio commentary by Vern and Mama. Then you'll beg for Small Wonder: The Ultimate Complete Series, with a "Where the hell is Vicki Now? documentary included. I mean, I like a few of the shows you guys have mentioned... but damn, do you really need to own the complete series of Automan? What is the complete series, like 3 episodes? All that whining aside, I'd love to watch Werewolf with the scariest man ever, Chuck Conners, again.
  5. Gotta go with the Space Army in Macross 7. They were so incapable of stopping the enemy that a rock band had to step in. Not bashing the show... but damn, that's a useless military.
  6. Ever seen Bea Arthur when she's really pissed off? Well, it's nothing like that, but it is very good.
  7. Normally I can see buying Vice or Magnum on DVD... but they show them in order daily on SpikeTV, so I've pretty much watched all of them now, thanks to my DVR recorder. SledgeHammer is tempting... I'm still holding out for more Homicide box sets. And The Wire, too.
  8. Sounds great. I still think the price will drop, though, so I'm not going to preorder. Glad to hear it getting such rave reviews!
  9. Hmmm... I actually think that Yamato will be more likely to rerelease the Roy VF-1S than the Hikaru VF-1S. It's pretty much a given that the Yellow & Black Skull One is the best known mecha representation of Macross and it's always outsold the others. It's the only paint scheme that didn't really change from SDF TV to DYRL (in fact it inspired the rest of the DYRL schemes) and both Yamato and Bandai have double-dipped in the past to sell more toys. Takatoku - Roy VF-1S GBP w/ Roy VF-1S Bandai 1990 Super Reissue VF-1S Reissue And another Super Reissue Yamato 1/60 VF-1S 1/60 VF-1S Strike There's no real reason to keep reissuing the toy if it didn't sell like hotcakes. Like I said in another thread about whether they'd reissue it, I think their best bet would be a 1/48 Roy VF-1S w/ Super/Strike Armor. That's just a great package. If I was only going to buy one 1/48 VF-1, I'd buy that one.
  10. Eh... the only thing I've noticed is a lack of posts due to the lack of information coming from Yamato these days. As for the swearing.. it's just a lame crutch. Intelligent people can find better ways to communicate without dropping the F-bomb every other sentence. It makes the board look like a 6th grade bathroom wall if it's not moderated. Waitaminute... the realdoll is used for sex?
  11. Now that you've explained your background and feelings toward RT, then I can give you a better answer. If you'd hated RT, I wasn't about to lie and say that the ReMasters fixes any continuity problems or makes hearing "To Be In Love..." any more bearable. Personally, I'm like Grand Cannon. I saw it on crappy UHF and VHS and I think the original DVDs look great and nostalgic. I don't want remastered footage of a show I only want for nostalgia. I'm not sure what bonus footage the ReMasters has, but you can't really beat the 3 disc sets that HG put out with all the bonus stuff. Fun commercials, The Sentinels, weird stuff... plus, you can get them for dirt ass cheap right now, thanks to all the ReMastered nonsense. I'd totally reccomend them for nostalgic reasons.
  12. Same here. As much as I love me some Robocop, I can't stand McFarlane's rubbery, 2 points of articulation, fall-apart figures. What's an Aoshima? Aoshima recently made the 1/12 terminator endos and then the huge 1/6 die cast endos that went for $150. Noe they're doing a 1/12 robocop. Hopefully they'll do a deluxe Robocop figure. If not I have the same one you have, Blaine. The bluish one with all the accessories and sound chip. Best Robocop figure. They're also rereleasing some Alien/Aliens kits as well as some of their own. No figures though. But if they did, it'll be kickass. The big bluish one is definitely the best one yet - it's ginormous... but it might possibly have the worst articulation ever. The thighs are so damn goofy. Spread 'em, Murphy! I'm gonna have to keep updated on the Aoshima fig. Thanks for the info.
  13. Yes you should buy it again and again and again and again. Just kidding. No. If you thought it might still be crap, then it is definitely still crap.
  14. DAMN! Excellent work as always, Master Jung.
  15. Same here. As much as I love me some Robocop, I can't stand McFarlane's rubbery, 2 points of articulation, fall-apart figures. What's an Aoshima?
  16. How ironic that DYRL can fight and die for the country, but cannot purchase a beer... Oh well, Happy BDay.
  17. Visionairies? I remember the holograms were mostly of animals, etc... Read up on them - here...
  18. It's only really sad when people start believing that the high price means they have to have one. The Low-Vis wasn't really all that hard to find, yet months later, all of sudden the boards are silly with people "dying" to get their hands on one. Personally, I didn't want the bookends at $200 and I don't want them at $750. Same thing with the Vis. Either you like something or you don't... you set a price in your head as to what you'd be willing to pay for said item and you get it if it's something you can afford.
  19. Since I was the one who made the point originally... I didn't say that comparing M7 and the original SDF Macross TV was remotely logical. I was merely pointing out that the quality level of the animation does not determine whether a show is well loved. We forgive mistakes and look past errors everyday for shows that we like. The reasons you don't like M7 have very little to do with the quality of the animation - you point that out very well - in fact, you only tolerate because it has Max & Millia. You're totally entitled to that opinion. I find it very difficult to believe that if Basara was animated better and Sound Force was drawn more beautifully that you would like M7 any better. You would still prefer the mecha of G-Wing, the music of Nadesico, and dislike the "band in space" story. So, it comes down, as usual, to those who like it for what it is and those who don't. Which is fine. But let's not make it about animation quality, because it's obviously not.
  20. I think it's typical. And not really all that impressive. First they try to chastise fans by telling them that they shouldn't buy bootlegs, yet do nothing to stop hordes of bootlegs from being created and sold wherever they want. Now they bust some stores that were right under their nose at a convention. Wow. A lot of effort went into that. If they really want to see a difference, they need to go after those creating the bootlegs in a big way. Until then, the problem will continually occur. It's digital media, which means it can be copied easily and copied well. Same thing goes for music CD's - but the RIAA goes after pirates with a vengence... thus, you don't see nearly the same amount of bootleg material being created and distributed.
  21. Along with some of the worst animation to come out of the mid 90's. No excuse for the low production value of the series. Eh... if that were such a big problem then we'd all hate the much crappier animation mistakes and quality in the original SDF Macross TV enough to never watch it, much less restore it. The animation in M7 never bothered me a bit. I can understand alot of the "I just don't get it/it's not my cup of tea", though. To each their own. I'm just glad I wasn't too put off by some comments enough to give it a shot. It ended up being a great show that I've watched 3 times now.
  22. I never got into the card thing. I love the art, but I don't like the size. I always wished they'd release some sort of Graphic Novel sized artbook out of the card's art, but I guess that sort of thing isn't big enough in the US. And Isamu, though I admire your devotion to the Biel... there ain't no way she could fill out that catsuit properly enough to be Felicia.
  23. The Tour De France is getting waaaaay too commercialized now.
  24. Irreversible is probably the most difficult movie I've ever sat through. My girlfriend wouldn't talk to me for about a month after we saw it. Rough, rough, rough.... shudder... ew... Okay, maybe not that kind of footage. Though I will agree that she still looked hot.
  25. Well, it's one ninja-step better than a certain other series that this description bears vague resemblance to. -Al Well, duh... it's got ninjas, man. Ninjas make everything better.
