  1. If they did that, I would've been in for 2 Bs, 2 Cs, and 2 GBP sets.
  2. I don't think the writing has changed too much, moreso than the animation style, and the age of us. I can almost guarantee that once the young viewers get older, they're going to remember Full Metal Alchemist, Gurren Laga, and all these popular animes, and say the same thing: "The new anime isn't as good as they used to make them in 2010."
  3. I figured it wasn't Yune art. Nevertheless, it does apear to be copied, one direction or another. I like the pic in the doujin. Don't care much for the colored one.
  4. Then I would say yes, if that's the art in question.
  5. I should've added in my last post. Had a chance to go to Kinokuniya, update my discount card, and pickup second copies of the Macross the First mangas. Hoping we see pics soon of the cover for book 4 come April/May.
  6. I think there's more of a bias towards Yamato, simply because they have a much more extensive list of Macross toys, and they do listen to us (or at least that's the perception). Bandai's line of Macross toys, while limited, has usually been on the lighter side, and with the mess of the version 1 VF-25 line, got a bad wrap. I will say that they have definitely put out a praise worthy show with the version 2 of them.
  7. Good stuff The January/Feb issue of Playboy w/ Lindsay Lohan. Not Macross related, but for those curious about it, her photo session in it wasn't that great.

    Music Covers?

I remember seeing that, and trying to make sense of it, and just giving up, and figuring it out on my own. Some poeple just have their own way of writing stuff, I guess, LOL.
  9. That doujin doesn't look like Tommy's art at all. If it was his, the clothes would look painted on, and he'd look like he's hopped up on steroids.
  10. I don't even know the artwork Tommy did that you're referring to.
  11. Probably the best way to find out about it, is to simply stay tuned on this thread. Any info will probably be relayed through here.

OK, here's my tab for Holy Lonely Night. It's unfinished, as the res of it is mostly the same, with slight variations. Still working out the solo, but this should get anybody wondering about it some help. I've seen other tabs that are pretty accurate note wise, but I think the styling of the way Fukuyama plays is probably close to this. Enjoy. Not sure what to put up next, but if anyone has requests, and I can do it, I'll put it up, or as much as I know.
  13. I like second option better as well. Of the bat...On the rear of the cover, I'd replace one of the pictures, probably the two hands or the Hikaru kissing Misa, with a pic of the Valkyries. As a cover, you want to get people's attention, and those that would be on the fence, you have enough of the drama and romance in the Minmay and one of the other two I mentioned, one of the apparent enemy, and one of the SDF-1, but you need one that shows more of the smaller highlights, i.e. the Valkyrie or Valkyries in action. Second critique would be the verbage on the back. It is hard to read, so perhaps a different color, or black background. You can also try boinger's suggestion. Either way, it is very difficult to read. I'm also not too big on the space background being throughout the entire picture, as it does make it a little busy, but I like the overall concept.

I may have to upgrade to 5 then. I have 4, but didn't really use it much. I'll probably take that template and write out some of what I have tomorrow. I'll post it up here if I can then. BTW, thanks for the info and the template. As for your work. Great job. I picked up this song around September. With the new mini studio I have, I should be recording more. How did you get the drum track? What did you use for that?
  15. I noticed the leg fins move in early pics of the same line art. I do hope that the standard fixed position is parallel like in the line art. Either way, our next pic should be either of an updated CAD, or maybe a clay model of it?
  16. Kicker, that display is awesome. You should consider putting some background pics behind the display cabinet. I know for my future display, I want to put up pics of the interior of the SDF-1 from DYRL, perhaps some pics of space, or fleets of ships, hangars, etc. At least you have an entire room dedicated to your collection. I have 1/3 a room, and it's already full. Nice, high, and tight packing. Good work.
  17. Unfortunately, I've never heard of this member before. Usually pms have email notifications. If you know his first and last name, perhaps you can find him on facebook?
  18. As a kid back in the day, I couldn't figure that out either just by the pictures. I kinda had to imagine that the intakes were more of a generator for creating cold air that would cool the power source, wether reactor, Robotech's power source, or HBT. It'd have to be directed from the intake, to the chest, then down to the hip area, and directed at the engines. Very unnecessarily complicated, but that was my idea.

Speaking of Macross music, does anyone know of a tab form on computer that you can put in the tabs and then simply print or post up the finished product as a .pdf or .doc? I've been looking for something like that so I can put up the tabs I have for many of these Macross songs. I don't write them out, but I'd like to. If there isn't anything like that, I should create one.
  20. If they do them in 1/60, I'm in, if not, I'll probably pass.

I've never put up any videos of my playing, but our band is working on a few of the Macross 7 songs. I've got "Holy Lonely Night" down, working on the solo, and have DYRL down (although it's a rework for a band, but the notes are the same). Also got Seventh Moon down, and now learning Totsugeki Love Heart. Maybe when our band starts practicing, we'll record the practices. It also helps getting the guitar of your dreams to play, so I now have my Les Paul as backup with an Ibanez, but the main guitar is a PRS 513 with upgraded fretboard and Maple top.
  22. Just got done watching Spice and Wolf, which is actually pretty good. Some of the plot is a little complicated for smaller children, the it's an interesting story. I recommend it. Also watching Tactics, which is about 8 years old, but it's OK so far. As I have the day off, I'm going to try to watch Dragonar as well. I haven't seen much of it, just bits and pieces, but I wanna give it a shot. I like the mecha in it.
  23. They did. There were several problems with that approach. The first was that they set the story a whopping 700 years in the future. The problem with that, is that when you create a spinoff story that's so far detatched from the preceeding series, If creates a disconnect with the fans.Another problem was that it was done in an outdated CG that was so different from what fans were used to. I think this was one of the main problems as well, but from what I heard, they were pretty adamant about using that style. Thirdly, the preview only shows these type of escavating veritechs. Who the hell wants to see a show about something like that? Maybe there was more, but if you don't show it in a preview, you're not giving people enough interest to see it. Last, it was Carl Macek working on it. Now, before you Robotech fans get your panties in a bunch, you're talking about a guy who changed Robotech the Untold Story into the product it was, even if he was told to change some of it, seeing what it was supposed to be isn't any better. His Sentinels story, although the basis of it seems OK, was riddled with minor, small bad ideas that would cloud the overall story. Even still, when the dollar/yen ratio went bad, the product still didn't seem viable enough for the financiers to continue. Macek never really proved himself as a ground up story writer, someone who could take an idea from concept to final product and be successful. From what I've heard, he got better at it later, but that was after HG. Robotech 3000 seemed like another poor idea that only he thought was going to be a blockbuster hit, kinda like what the staff thinks now, except luckily for the RT fans, that never got off the ground.
  24. If Yamato did an 11D, it'd be interesting to see how the cockpit cover is done. In any case, I wish Yamato would come out with more variants of the 11 as well. I don't know how many more variations of the B and C they could sell, but Mylene's 11 Max-L would be a definite buy for me, just like the VF-4, and like a VA-3, if they were to do that. Ray and Veffida's 17D would also have to be purchased as well, as Firebomber needs to be complete. Yamato should get try to get some of the licenses to make toy versions of Dengeki hobby and Hasegawa kits. I'd buy many of the Macross the Ride variations of the 11s, too, as well as the Thunder Focus.
