New Macross TV Series in 20xx (sometime this decade)

I honestly wouldn't mind an all-guy triangle. Yuri on Ice did it pretty well. -
New Macross TV Series in 20xx (sometime this decade)
Devil 505 replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
All this complaining is starting to sound like the forums for The-Show-That-Must-Not-Be-Named. Having lurked there, they've done nothing but complain about Delta, and Macross in general, and they've got nothing but nostalgia to go by. -
Even now, Reaction Engines, Ltd. came up with heat exchangers for their SABRE precooled air breathing rocket engine that rapidly cools the intake air to -150°C. The best materials I've seen so far in real life would be Ultra-High Temperature Ceramics, which would provide thermal protection up to over 2,000°C. It's stated that said materials would allow sustained Mach 7 flight at sea level.

New Macross TV Series in 20xx (sometime this decade)
Devil 505 replied to Tochiro's topic in Movies and TV Series
As someone who migrated from The-Show-That-Must-Not-Be-Named to Macross, I've definitely enjoyed what Macross has to offer in comparison to those other guys. The fact that I have a "ponified" Basara as my avatar should say enough. I'm always looking forward to what comes next for Macross, for better or worse. -

I gotta admit something. I wasn't impressed by the VF-31 as I was for the -25. The SV-262 only piqued my interest because of my love for Saab's fighters. As Kawamori stated before, he has no plans to revisit Megaroad-01, especially after Hikaru's voice actor committed suicide. The-Show-That-Must-Not-Be-Named was banking on robot battles and big explosions to distance itself from its source material, and it hasn't really worked out for them. That's all I'm saying about that. -
Having brought up helium before, it should be noted that modern cold-gas RCS thrusters use helium, which I believe could be channeled from the plasma into the vernier thrusters. In the original Genesis Climber Mospeada, most of the mecha were powered by "hydrogen-cell turbines," which may also explain the retcon.

The same goes for the SV-52γ Oryol, which is described as "a customized Valkyrie of unknown origin produced to imitate the SV-52." Getting back to a previous discussion about heat exchangers and fusion engines in space, I've been looking up research into helium being used as a heat sink, and if I remember correctly, helium is a fusion product.

Not to mention the SV-262 being a reference to the Me 262.

VF-2JA - Could it fly or is it just a brick?
Devil 505 replied to HannouHeiki's topic in Movies and TV Series
I didn't even think about that. -
I'd understand if she was wearing a "macronized" EX-Gear as an interface, but nope.

I'm sorry if this was answered before... How exactly was Klan controlling the FAST packs?

VF-2JA - Could it fly or is it just a brick?
Devil 505 replied to HannouHeiki's topic in Movies and TV Series
There must be some lifting body characteristics when it comes to the VF-1, similar to the F-15 Eagle that was able to land with a missing wing. -
I always wondered how heat exchangers would work on a fusion engine. I've been following the development of the Reaction Engines SABRE for years, especially with its approach to precooling the incoming air flow, but that's a hydrogen burning engine rather than a fusion engine.

The main reason why the Navy hasn't proceeded with at-sea testing yet is because of barrel life and power issues, two things that are inconsequential with Overtechnology and fusion engines in Macross. Going back to the main subject of the AVF, I was looking at the specs for the YF-21 and the VF-22 over at the Macross Mecha Manual, and I was wondering why are they apparently the only VFs that have overheating issues with their engines in space. Does it have to do with the stealth features?

That's pretty much one of the main reasons why the U.S. Navy is investing so much in railgun technology.

That makes sense. It probably also explains why the lightsaber in Star Wars: A New Hope didn't cauterize that alien's arm in the cantina, but I digress... Getting back to the subject of VF designs, one thing that irks me is the forward-swept canard design on some VFs (SV-51, YF-29, VF-27, Schneegans). A normal canard swept backwards is supposed to redirect atmospheric lift to the wings. A forward-swept canard would direct the flow to the fuselage. Is there some other purpose that I'm missing for a forward swept canard?

Sonic X has some more references, with the X-Tornado/X-Cyclone resembling the VF-11, and the Blue Typhoon's flight deck looking like Battle 7.

I would assume a beam weapon would instantly cauterize whatever it hits.

What does the "SV-" prefix stand for in some variable fighters (SV-51, SV-52, SV-154, SV-262), and how does it differ from "VF-"? Also, what about "Fz-", as in the Fz-109?

Well, the F-4 was derived from a proposed attack version of the F3H Demon. -

Macross technology: it's a matter of weight...
Devil 505 replied to Professor Dire's topic in Movies and TV Series
I always wondered why we never saw refueling tankers (except for Macross Zero since they were still conventional turbofans) until I read the part about a fusion powered aircraft having the range of about 2.8 times the circumference of the Earth per pound of fuel.
