You must have pulled the chestplate off the Arcadia PF because no way that can be the HMR.

Reissue delayed until December.

I would say the main disappointment with the HMR Tomahawk is its non-existence.
+1 to that! How many years has it been since people were singing Bandai's praises because the HMR line was "the most complete line" of Macross toys?

Not to mention even finding decals for the non-PF to begin with. Those stickers it came with just don't cut it. I didn't care about the panel lining, but the decals alone made it worth getting for me.
@Anasazi37 made a decal set for it. Used it to make my own "premium finish" version awhile back. That was a lot of tiny decals!

Had these Lil Drakens right from when they were released. But this is the first time I'm mounting them onto a valk. I did know from the onset that I wanted them on the 31S instead of the 31F, due to how well the colors match..
Lil Drakens on VF-31 may seem to be an afterthought both in movie & toy form, yet strangely enough from certain angles (mostly from above) the Lil Draken's wings can look as though it geometrically matches the VF-31's. By slanting the ghosts' wings a certain way, it picks up & flows through where the VF-31's wings are cut off. Together with the matching paint scheme, it is as though the VF-31S now have extended delta wings with boosters in between.
Yeah the Lil Drakens actually look really good when paired with Arad's ride.

This is what transformation looks like in Gundam.

The Tomahawk in the pics is the weathered olive green. But understandably not very obvious because of the lighting.
Ah gotcha. Now that I think about it, I think I have the weathering edition stashed away somewhere.

The PF VF-4A is a great piece for those who don't have the time or wherewithal to panel wash and decal up the regular edition (and it's a lot of work for sure!).

I got my Kakizaki in the mail yesterday. I specifically did NOT request that signature confirmation be skipped after reading the fine print saying that if you do, DHL is not responsible for any shipping damage. They tossed it on my porch and ran anyway, lol. No damage tho.
I am a bit disappointed in quality on this one. I was compelled to get out the ol' zacto to correct a few issues. But hey, at least it comes with a proper stand adapter for fighter mode! But it still doesn't fit.
After some back cutting on the attachment clips:
Also, the tail wings don't seat properly in fighter (either side), one knee cap never closes properly, and the gaps are horrible:
Typical HMR "quality."
I said it before and I'll say it again: the VF-0D is the first HMR valk I've bought that actually looks and feels like a premium toy.

Yamato destroids may have pretty good articulation for its time. There are quite a bit of moving joints, but ultimately it falls a bit short by today's standards and Arcadia should have updated it a little in their recent re-issue. Specifically, the hips could do with a proper drop-down function to enable a wider & more dynamic A-stance and in this regard, the HMR is far superior by not only having said full drop-down hips, but the side skirt pieces also pivots upwards out of the way.
Pilot in cockpit still a nice touch though, even if he will be completely hidden most of the time.Did they ever make a weathering version of the olive green?

Cool another toy waiting to be panel lined and decaled..
Hikaru's 1S was one of my earlier projects. It's the original Yamato release paired with the strike parts from the premium finish set. I did that so all my DYRL valks were the same shade of dark white with rainbow canopies.
Max's 1A is the only hero valk from the movie I haven't worked on yet.

You’re basically blasting Regults and Zent’ fighters left and right. And one little turd winds up slowly draining the life outta the Cat’s Eye while you’re otherwise occupied (like a cheap little mosquito).
Everyone loves escort missions!

hmmm.
seems even the "socks" and "cape/sideguards" are quite Urkel-high...
This level of Urkel-ness hasn't been seen since the original line of Frontier toys.

DAMN! @Lolicon - I thought I nailed down ALL the Yamato exclusives YEARS ago..."Siiigggghh" - Now I've gotta go troll the depths of the interwebs for THAT exclusive!
Don't worry it's just a Thai knockoff brand.

. . . I’m suddenly having bad flashbacks of trying to defend the Cat’s Eye plane during that RT Battlecry game. 🥴
Cat's Eye! I should have thought of that.
Never played any RT games, but I'm assuming the mission ended in much the same way as the show?

Are the intakes supposed to look that wonky or am I just too used to Yamato's?

Funny, that's even one of the better looking stills from that episode, but having that much space in the cockpit, let alone carrying a baby in her lap, is absolutely insane. Her arms don't even look long enough to reach the instrument panel.
The animators are still a step above Bandai, because they at least included the ejection seat warning.

You never know what you'll find when taking your valkyries out of storage after a long time.

Mandarake has a Yamato VF-4G that someone customized into the FB2012 version. My only gripe is that they didn't sand out the obvious seam lines on the nose before painting it.

"Latest development sample" probably just means that they have a final molded plastic production sample and not the painted prototype they've been trotting out. Extremely doubtful Bandai made any meaningful changes. This is the company that prints modex numbers backwards for spectacularly stupid reasons.

The undersized pilots are a real eyesore. Makes the VF-1 look like some hideously gigantic machine that belongs in the Gundam universe rather than a compact aircraft that's smaller than the real world F-14.
-
I wish they would reissue the premium finish versions of Roy and Hikaru instead. Or better yet just make everything "premium finish" and not split their own tiny market.
-
Yes, it's always best to pay in yen with a CC that doesn't charge any foreign transaction fees. Those transaction fees really add up when you buy a lot of stuff from Japan!

I think I'm going to need another case so I can split the TV and DYRL valkyries into different shelves. There's just too many VF-1 variants from original recipe Macross.
This is just the Yamato/Arcadia (and one Takatoku) stuff. Haven't even gotten to any DX or HMR versions. Or the second PF SDF-1 I wanted to put in cruiser mode...
