  1. I was going to use the Stealth SSP's and looked for them for about 2mo. Right before I was going to paint these someone contacted me with some Stealth SSP's for sale......but I had to take the Stealth Valk too. I figured what the "H", it was a fair price and bought them. Painted these in the meantime. I think the all black actually works better than the Stealth packs. I guess I have an extra Stealth with packs now. First world problems I suppose. Paint test in a couple of days when it sows up on that other project. Hopefully that works out like planned.
  2. Very nice. Thank you! Is that the Sideshow ED-209?
  3. I'm not to confident it will fit in a Detolf either. Yes, a new release is due I think.
  4. If someone has one of these drop ships out can you check to see if it will fit in a Detolf for me? I would like to get another one. But It will have to be in a Detolf if I do. It won't work in my main cabs at all. Detolfs are my catch all for small categories. I'm looking at what is out there. From what you guys have said and what I'm seeing there are a couple different releases. What do you think of this list I'm half guessing at?: 01 - This is what I would call weathered. From the little bad information I have I think this is what is referred to as "screen color". Pic below. 02 - This looks like the 01 not weathered or not weathered and a little more tan? Pic below. 03 - Black Edition. Pic below. 01 02 03
  5. If I remember correctly it was dusty looking new. It was down right dirty in the movie. Even before they dropped.
  6. Forgot about this thread. Un-boxed this dude yesterday. I LOVE the steampunk look!
  7. Ohhhhhhh, tricky. I didn't know that was a thing. Thanks! Yep, close enough! Do you know if that is a matte finish? This is a general question for everyone: I haven't done much painting at all in my life. But, the little that I have I have felt I got much better results when I used a flat or matte opposed to a gloss. This could be a false positive though. Not many data points and a ton of other variables. Are matte/flat's easier to lay down in general? Or is this just something I have imagined? Thanks guys!
  8. I can't remember how big this is. Will it fit in a Detolf? I think it will.
  9. I was trying to yesterday. I wasn't able to find a flat or matte gray that was slightly darker (or any flat/matte grey) than the Valk by Tamiya. Are you guys aware of something better than the Testors in flat preferably, matte second choice that is sorta like this gray? Thanks!
  10. Actually, I don't know. I didn't even notice it until you pointed it out (kinda goes with the "hey, we just sprayed this thing 10min before we sent it into combat for this narrow role"). It's definitely paint. Must be a factory blem of something. It wasn't sealed when I got it. But is sure didn't look like it had ever been out of the box or handled.
  11. This = me^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  12. Very nice. That's a tough one to get a hold of.
  13. That looks FANTASTIC! Where did you get/who makes the case?
  14. A little steam punk Mazinger action.
  15. Very nice. The clear top really makes a difference compared to a Detolf. Especially for such a imposing figure.
  16. Good heads up. Thank you I couldn't find any Tamiya flat gray. At least I have that it's flat going for me. I'll practice with flats and matt paints for a while. i'm not ready for gloss.
  17. My custom was broken just like that out of the box (they should be shipped disassembled). It was as easy as taking the broken out part of the ratchet and super gluing it back in. Worked perfectly.
  18. Knowing me..........yes. I blow everything out of proportion. I just ordered some Testors 1226 Flat Dark Aircraft Grey to do the next set of packs. Hopefully it lays down like the Tamiya paint did.
  19. Thanks! I'm thinking dark grey may have been a better move though. That's the nature of this sort of thing I suppose.
  20. Yeah, disassembled them, washed them, put them on about a million toothpicks stuck in foam and spray bombed them. Looks pretty good. I could do a better job the second time around. True with just about anything. I'm thinking a dark grey may have been even cooler now. I have another Low Vis in Battroid. Maybe I'll do grey packs on that one. That may drive my flavor of crazy crazy though. My point on the spectrum says everything must match.
  21. My pictures certainly aren't up to the standards of this thread. I did just paint some SSP's black to go with a Low Vis (first time I have done something like this) and it looks pretty sweet so I thought I would post. I think they may look better than the Stealth SSP's which I was planning on putting on here.
  22. I'm a mechanical kind of guy. Not a finish guy. This is the first time I have tried anything like this. They turned out OK. Thanks in part to advice I git here. I would do it a little differently next time. But that holds true about just about anything you do more than one. Now that I know I can do this I need three more sets of SSP's! Black SSP's for the Low Vis
