the round 'eye' will make it seem like its a box set for 2001, 2010. i would also have to pass on the box if it goes greyscale. if we go with the blue lineart (which i think could work quite well if we pick the right shade of blue; the 1colour layer DA posted seems quite spiffy) how will this affect the silver or gold base layer that Paul was mentioning? also with the blue lineart it will match even more with the blue sky on the spine. i am not in favour of cuting/pasting pics. if we go with the lineart lets stick with that as a single image with the text.

is this for the q-rau? what was wrong with the original?

still going to have to disagree and hold out for the dessert spine. i truly think its too beautiful to pass up. No offense to anyone but i haven't been overly wowed by alot of the images we have (this is NOT a knock against anyone but just a fact that the amount of art at our disposal isn't as extensive as Macross). if we go with the engraving i think silver would be best. i'm actually rather excited by this prospect as I would welcome something new. edit - further to my previous post, the blue in the macross logo would reflect well with the blue sky in the spine on another note i received the 2 Macross cases. Let me just say WOW and thanks to all involved. it truly came out much better then i expected (particularly the mecha case). our pic selection was bang on and together both cases compliment each other, not just in theme but in the colour - one is brighter where as the other one is darker. i couldn't be more pleased. these two easily beat out the 'commercial' PC cases (i.e. gasaraki, eva) added bonus: i'm #003 for both cases! yay me! lets have a roll call for our way-ward cases: 001 002 003 Both Cases, MrDisco, Toronto etc.

very disappointing. even real tanks look nicer then this mess.

i prefer the original spine. it has the 2 fighters in the sky which lends itself well to the schematics on either side. it adds a bit of colour and its perfectly formated. edit - i think as a group we should agree not to pursue a 2nd design. i highly doubt we would get the numbers and i dont think paul would want to do 2 smaller runs of boxes.

love the lineart mockup you just posted edit - does the original image have text and if so do you think the scan will have enough res to translate on the case?

i dont see the point of the last image as the two are nearly identical. you might as well just use the original image. personally i think collages of that sort are cheesy and don't lend any sense of elegance to the design.

it looks very stylistic but is it just me or do other people think the fight scenes are just sparks of light hidden in shadows? oh well. it was also interesting that some of the uniqueness of ep1 wasnt seen in ep2 (i.e. going back to the previous day and mistakenly going to the future, the scratching to go from scene to scene, etc).

i like newtest4 the one with sharon (?) on newtest5 seems a bit strange with the moire pattern. it may look odd with the laser engraving.

i think the new pics look really nice; but the high price means i'll pass on them.

sorry but i really dislike the new boxtop idea. its too busy with elements that do not flow or really fit with each other. i think the simplicity of the macross logo should be kept on its own.

I think it's an awesome sculpt. With the right mix of die-cast and weapons this could be a great toy to collect. BUT the high price is a big turn off. Unfortunately I will have to pass on this only b/c of the price.

not a bad deal. i have the single issues (just missing #1, variants, and the two #2s)

his cases are top notch in quality. what makes or breaks the deal is the quality of the art work given to him. case in point the evangelion box. a bit uninspired. also some people may find the notched edges distracting.

since when did japanese producers ever take popularity into account? they are the masters of super-limited production runs.

why? it's eva chicks+cutsie figures = instant sell out. with diamond importing them i have no doubt they wont be overly difficult to find. personally i think i'm going to cancel my preorder.

its weird but my immediate thought when i saw that scene was 'wouldn't it be something if one queen beryl possed Mio and is going after the princess herself' something which i'm confused about is if the generals were under the Prince's command, at what point does Beryl enter the picture? were they always good and then became evil? or did they become evil b/c of the Prince's actions and his realtionshp with the Princess?
