  4. where does one order these latest batch of rei/asuka goodies? and where's that poseable asuka? edit - well this sucks: "For Evangelion (and Keroro Gunso - Sgt Frog) fans, the December 2004 issue of Shonen Ace-A magazine (on sale 26 October 2004) will come with a coupon to apply for an Asuka action figure by Masaki Apsy, who also created the Rei action figure which came with the first limited edition of volume 9 of the Evangelion manga. Here's another pic of the Asuka figure. Note: the magazine does not come with the figure - instead, the magazine will contain a coupon. You'll need to cut out the coupon and send it in (with money - it's not a freebie) to purchase the figure. Source: Mangaoh Club. Presumably applications won't be accepted from overseas... The December 2004 issue will also come with an Afro Gunso strap." yay more fodder for ebay

  12. is the Asuka poseable figure available for preorder?
  13. i'm glad i have the SE version. i can live with the mislabeled covers..sucks for those who ordered the regular discs.
  14. thank god i'm not the only person who noticed this. its a definite greenish-white hue on the falcon
  15. never underestimate the japanese' ability to milk a franchise.
  16. yep the latest chapter of naruto was rather awesome. cant wait to see what new moves he can pull off (though naruto needs a new move as well..using his chakra to mandhandle sasuke is a bit boring )
  17. Ben's saber in that scene looks pretty odd compared to all the other shots of lightsabers. it didn't have that bright blue shimmer we've come to expect...it was almost a pale whitish-green.
  18. thats pretty interesting. for me on ESB a good chunk of the movie gets skipped when I play it on my pc dvd. edit - i'm using a brand new dvdrom (liteon 166s). i played it back on my sony standalone player and it seemed to play ok.
  19. well after i got over my initial confusion as to open the darn thing i just slowly ripped the advert off and peeled the guck off of the box. it left a bit of a mark but a box like this is crap to begin with so who cares. other oddities - they added a weird sound effect for the debris from Alderaan zooming by the Falcon. there's an echo when luke and leia are standing on the ledge in the death star. this may all have been a part of the SE release..can't remember.
  20. Official LucasFilms' statement: "We are always impressed with how closely fans listen to the many different sound mixes we have made for the Star Wars movies over the years. It is flattering to know that, indeed, the audience is listening. Consequently, each mix comes out differently and any changes that you hear on the all-new Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround EX tracks on the Star Wars Trilogy DVD set are deliberate creative decisions. We can confirm that there are no technical glitches as reported."
  21. nope. its a silver obi-strip all in english. the top flap has widescreen written across (which is glued to the top of the box). the strip then folds over to cover the opening of the box. along this side is your typical advert "bonus disc included, technical specs, etc etc). this piece is glued to the spine of the inner box.
  22. something which i'm noticing is that explosions are colouring the scene. i.e blasts give off a purple hue, when the camera flys by the exhaust of a ship the scene flashes blue, etc. its rather distracting. edit: more oddities - lens flare from the sun glinting off of c3p0 - the door to the escape pod is coloured a deep blue
  23. yep glue. the type that is supposed to peel away but still...GLUE??? in order to get to the internal case you have to remove the advert slip first
  24. i just received my sw set + free tshirt! I havent watched it yet but let me comment on the box. now regular members may know that i call out anime companies when they put out substandard products, particularly when attached to high profile titles. with this mind let me say that the box for SW is craptacular. The beautiful silver 'box' that we see in ads is really a thin paper slipcover. the side which is open has a promtional piece of paper GLUED to the inner box. this means to remove the dvds you have rip the ad away from the box (on the other side is a flap folded in - if you open the flap you create a crease). This is a very STUPID design. now on the spine of the inner box i have this big glue glop which although i can peel away i shouldn't have to! The inner 'box' is again a thin paper folded box housing the 4 dvds. for something which has an MSRP of nearly $90 cdn i absolutely shocked. so yes brand me a nut for getting worked up over this but this is what happens when dumb marketing execs come with lame ideas like this
