Who's your favorite Soul Calibur II Character
Anubis replied to Vostok 7's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
It's funny because it's so true. -
Most Navy and Marine mechanics wear what's called a cranial. It looks almost like a leather flying helmet only it's been designed to shatter the trubine blades of an engine as it travels through it, thus any mechanic that gets sucked in would remove all the turbine blades in the path with thier head as they went through. As long as the engine is big enough for them to fit through they could make it out alive (probably some nasty burns and broken bones, but nothing a stay in a hospital could fix). Remember the turbine blades most jet engines are very stiff but also pretty brittle and can shatter when even small rocks are parts get sucked in (the technical term is FOD). Yeah, I remember all about FOD. We went through 10 F-16 engines in 6 weeks in Kuwait with the jets sucking crap up off the the runway there. Being in Egress, we had to deal with FOD in the cockpits, and raise or remove the Ejection Seat every time a screw or pen got lost under there. I have never heard of that helmet the navy/marines wear being able to break the blades. Seriously?? That's pretty damn cool if that is actualy the case. Even with that though I would still consider it a miracle for someone to survive that. Even if the blades break, you could get hit with a piece of the shrapnel. The force of that would still be pretty heavy on your head, and you would have to be dead on straight going through for that to work. I'm talking "Yes, I'm saying God came and stopped those mother F$^%$ bullets" type miracle.

Cool, learn something new everyday. It would be nice to see some Animeigo discs on the shelf for once. As for my acronym, I wrote it half-dreary at my desk this morning. I was thinking Worthless Human Beings for the last three. The rest was accurate. I don't even know if that was a good way to describe HG, I will just stick with Steaming Pile of Crap. I like With Heavy Bullshit. That does sound better.

Had an F-16C taken down during a trip to canada. 88-0357. Taken down by pelicans in the intake and through the canopy glass. Pilot landed in a tree and only bruised his arm. Back to topic, the VF-22's nosecone is my pick. I saw the craziest thing on tv one night. I believe it was shock tv. This plane was on the deck of a carrier preparing for takeoff and a crew member got sucked up into the turbin. The turbin just spit him out the other side. Crazy I tell you. As for favorite nose cone. I vote for the VF-11. Its got that bird of prey look to it. It almost looks like a beak. The guy who got sucked in the "carrier plane"..did he survive ? A couple of broke ribs and some burns. There was probably more damage done to the plane. I don't know if that is even possible. Anything that goes in there is coming out pureed out the other end. Wether it's an F-14, or a C-5 engine. You get sucked in that intake, and make it to the blades = you die. There's no gap to go around the blades. It's just straight through the blender. Then get cooked from the thrust exhaust. I have seen shots of guys that got sucked in and lived, but they either caught the edge, or something snagged before they got to the blades.

The only problem I have with the Full Metal Panic dub is Sosuke's voice. It just doesn't fit the character as well as they intended, IMO. Other than that, a pretty good effort, and I think Kaname is pretty much dead on at least.

LMAO, Metal Gear Solid style! * Codec rings * "Secret Elf? SECRET ELF!!!" Snake!! SNAAAAAKE!!! -
Max and Millia just happened to have a LOT of daughters. That's all.

If it doesn't say Animeigo, with their black packaging. It's a boot (or RT). Sauron is too good a term for HG. POFCWHB is the term. I leave it to you to figure out this acronym.

Have 4 non-fp's, well had 4, broke and threw away the Hikaru 1J. I have a CF on my desk at work, and Max and Millia put away. They do have nice detail. Very flimsy though. I do like how they look in gerwalk.

Did anyone confirm how much the Macross Box is? Somw of these can be quite expensive, but I might be willing to pay up for that Macross one. The Kenshin OVA one is sweet too, shame it's for 5 discs instead of 4 (space for the director's cut).

Problem remains, if they want 80 bucks for the alpha, how much are they going to ask for the beta.

Even if it's a crappy dub, if it gets the show into more homes, then it's all good. If it's a good dub I'll watch it, if it is not up to par, then straight to Japanese. I have known a few poor souls that could not stand subtitles, and admitted they would rather watch a bad dub. More power to them. This is the beauty of DVD's: we can watch whatever language track we want. That's why I'm trying not to judge the Seed cast yet, just relaying who's in it for the interested parties. There is potential for them to do good. They could bite. I'll wait until I watch the show. Even good actors can sound bad if they do the script wrong. **cough**With Hunter Robin**cough**.

What did the note say this time? BTW: Yeah, Agent One stuck his foot in his mouth on this one. -
That's where you got me. I cannot remember the names of these people to save my life. All I can say right now is "the guy that played Spike also played Ryuga in Mahoromatic". Stuff like that. I can associate Richard Cox, Crispin Freeman, and Wendee Lee directly, but that's it. Eventually I'll pick up some more of the names. As for your picks, I would have to concur there.

How many of you have/had a military background?
Anubis replied to 91WhiskeyM6's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Air Force 1998-2002 I worked in Aircrew Egress Systems. I worked F-16's and A-10's. Inspected the seats and ballistic system, time changed explosives, and took the seats out everytime a crewchief or someone lost a screw in the cockpit. Since there are two canopy remover rockets and detonation lines on the F-16's canopy we got to work those too, down to changing the glass when the laminate or whatever the hell it was would start to peel. Spent a couple of years at Hill AFB in Utah. 3 squadrons of 16's there. Got to go TDY to Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Tyndall AFB in Panama City, Cold Lake AB in Canada, and Al Jaber AB in Kuwait while I was at Hill. I spent my last year at Osan AB, South Korea. 1 squadron of F-16's and 1 of A-10's there. It wasn't a bad experience, but not for me past the four years. I have considered guard or reserve on occasion, but not a distraction I need at this point. School and full time work is enough. Occasionally I do miss the flightline though. Just not in winter. -
Now that does not sound like a bad cast so far.

What's wrong with my Yamato, Bandai, etc.
Anubis replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Best I could think for now was to rest the wing on the tailfin. It's the only way to keep it closed for now. OK: I had a bout of courage and removed the screw finally, took some force but it came out, and then re-tightened it real good. No problem now. I have to say, this thing is durable as hell. -

My VF-19A took a tumble month or two ago, and at the time it seemed fine (it was in fighter mode) for a change of pace I decided to pose it in battroid, and to my dismay, the left wing is loose as hell and will not stay folded. I tried adjusting the screw, but it doesn't want to move either way really, and I'm afraid I might strip the screw if I force it. Does anyone know a way I can try to fix it, or should I just put it back in fighter and call it good? Is it just the screw holding the wing together, or are there washers in there I should be cautious of? -
Sorry, I'll specify it as the El Hazard OVA
