  1. I know it's a long shot but I'd like to see another story that takes place during SW1. The story would of course have all new characters, Maybe a new squadron of destroid pilots. The story should flow through SW1 like we know it.  A redone battle on Mars from a destroid pilots view would be awsome. We could see all new animation of the mecha we love. Plus we could get some cameos from all of our favorites.

    Idea thief.

Space War 1, as seen from the bow of the Daedalus. Now THAT'S excitement!

We'll never see any show with the Destroids as the main mecha. Destroids don't transform, and EVERY mecha in Macross must transform to be even considered as anything other than a bit-player, it appears.

As for a new show, I'd like to see the actual development of the VF-X series. Not this VF-0 stuff, but the actual trial and prototyping of the VF-1. That would be fun :)

  2. Allow me to repeat what I said when I saw your first pic:

    "Woah"

    :)

Seriously, I love your panel shading. Just the right amount to seem like that VF-1A has been used and flown a bit (and survived combat, strangly for a CF).

Great stuff, and keep it up!

ps: What's this you say about a diorama?

  3. Depends on which sources you use, as no hard data has been given.

What's generally accepted is that Rook's Cyclone is lighter than the others, because she has no integral forearm weapons or chest-missles. If you go by the RPG, it's because the 38-Lite was the original prototype for the Cyclone line, so it's a little under-armed, but makes up for that by being faster and quicker.

(in the original show, it was because women needed easier controls to pilot their mecha... :p )

  4. Gasaraki is an Eva clone, make no doubts about it. Right down to the female lead's hairstyle!

The mecha designs are some of the best around, no doubts about it, but the plot is... engh. As other have said, the show is slow and ponderous, seemly standing still in some sections. The combat scenes are woefully few and far inbetween, but when they do show up, they're pretty freaking amazing and they do a decent job of breaking up the tedium of the rest of the show.

The ending is much like that in Evangelion: whacky, out there, bizzare, and even truely strange.

I'd strongly reccomend renting it first before you spend the money on the boxset.

  5. True enough about those forearm weapons.

However, tire placement in Battloid mode is critical to me. If the toy doesn't have the tires between the shoulderblades, then it's wrong.

One of my personal pet peeves, mind you, but every transforming toy and model of the Cyclone has gotten those tires wrong. It'll be interesting to see if Toynami can fix that problem.

  6. I really like the BGMs for Robotech, especially the starting theme song.

I tried listening to the opening song for Macross and just couldn't get around that horrible, horrible singer. All that wailing... ugh.

As for the Reba West songs? Kill me... kill me now... :p

Overall, however, I'd rate the Robotech BGMs as some of the best in any anime, or even most live action shows, too.

  7. Nah, I'll take a Lance. However, it all depends on how large the prongs and shaft are.

Some pictures have the prongs almost twice as long as the shaft, and that just won't do it for me. Half and half would be a decent size.

And to go with it, I need the Predator's targeting lasers. That would just complete the effect :)

  8. The anime magic mostly comes into play with the tires and their positioning on the backpack in Battloid mode.

As well, the arm-mounted weapons appear to fly from the hub of the front tire onto the forearms.

And yeah, accidentally moving during transformation could really ruin your day :)

  9. Stop complaining about it's size because the Beta fighter attached will make it the pefect size.

My issus isn't with the size and not just the price, but how sturdy will the connections with the Tread be...

Why not wait for the toy to actually come out before having "issues" with it?

I find it rather difficult to rag on a toy that hasn't be released yet.

I'll admit that I agree with most of the trepidation surrounding this toy, considering Toynami's problems with the MPC line, but I am greatly impressed with their Alpha Superposables, so I have some hopes for the Alpha MPC.
