My apologies for the slow progress: this mecha, by virtue of its variable geometry, is made up of many, many small parts and they require lots of time to shape properly.

I've been waiting my entire life for a good representation of the Spartas Hover Tank.  Take your time, there's no rushing perfection.  We can wait a little bit longer for another masterpiece.

  2. I just saw ALIEN in the theatre for the first time.  In fact, this is my first time as an adult and my first time ever watching it from start to finish without pausing, fast-forwarding, or just plain watching clips on YouTube.  I'm shocked at how tight the editing is and how quickly the plot moves along.  Character introductions are sparse, but we learn about them as they work and not just in a montage opening.  Aside from the Chestburster scene, which is and will always be truly iconic, there's shockingly little amounts of gore or on-screen violence.  The set design is meant to be seen on the Big Screen, and it's wonderfully claustrophobic.  I love the little decals and touches showing it's a ship with a purpose and not just a pretty set for a movie.

A wonderful experience, and one of the few movies I'll watch in a year and fewer still in the theatre.

Nice. Gotta wait for a couple other preorders to come in before I can have mine shipped. Hope that they do some of the other characters.

The only problem with other SC characters is the armours are so distinctive that it's more involved than a mere repaint with a new head.  But I'd love to get more of them, anyway!

  4. The armour version is nice.  The shield clips around the forearm, with no exposed peg hole needed if not in use.  It came with two stands, one for each figure.  Armoured Dana has helmet attached and bare face swappable faces.  The bare face connects with two pegs into the head, the helmet has a pair of teeeeeeny tiiiiiiiiiiny tabs that slot into obnoxiously hard-to-line-up holes.

The armour colours look great.  Her girdle/codpiece is a bit loose but that means that as I pose her her legs don't crash into stuff and chip the paint.  She looks a bit better proportioned in her armoued look, no grotesque column-neck there.  The joints themselves seem decently tight so far, able to hold a pose and prop up her laser rifle.

All in all, a good purchase and I'm glad to get some Southern Cross merch.

  5. So I did get my Dana!  She's quite tiny and her legs are a bit out of proportion (I guess a leftover from when the armour was supposed to be removable).  The cloth suit isn't quite as tacky in person because of how small it is, and it feels different and better than just painted plastic.

I haven't gotten to her armoured form yet, but that's the one that's gonna live on my shelf so I want to practice swapping gimmicks on her off-duty look first 😀

If you kindly let us know what you liked about the trailer, we can ruin it for you so you can become a bitter a.. hole like the rest of us. You’ll benefit from saving money on ticket prices for movies, but you’ll start grumbling at the freebies

Please, I'm a Robotech fan.  Bitter a**hole comes with the territory in that fandom!

I just really like the banter between not-Megs and not-Prime.  It's going to be fascinating to watch as these two friends grow apart into the bitter enemies we know today.  I also like the (so far) lack of humans to get in the way.

Yeah, but you had no way to prove it, since quality Southern Cross mecha was never available to the market.  Before the Bio-Lloyds, all we had was a poorly-sculpted vintage kit, a couple half-assed Matchbox toys, and a few Spartas 3D-printed prototypes that weren't good enough to make it to production.

Ironically enough, the great Dyson Max had already proven an anime-accurate Spartas figure could be produced (as long as it didn't transform).  I would've bought a 3D printer just to make one of my own, if only he'd provided .stl files... but at least @captain america can use his model for reference. 🙂

Oh, hush you.  You can take your stoopid "reality" and "facts" and eject them out the ship Among Us style!  :p

Yeah, it was. Now it’s not. They couldn’t decide and I guess they couldn’t figure out how to stretch the story enough to fit a series. Either that or they got really confident about releasing it as a movie

That's a good thing, then.  I hate when TV shows have unnecessary padding, and they all do.
