Just beautiful, Ted!! I'm glad to see that you've veen hard at work building, and the results speak for themselves!

Would it be possible to see the green Gosu next to the Biopsycher and/or next to the Sol Bioroid, just for funsies?

YOU say just for funsies.  I say for proper intergenerational scaling of mecha :p

If you put the pink goo in the toaster and play some music does it start dancing around? :)

    (Bad Ghostbusters 2 ref...sorry)

Now I'll never be able to unthink this when looking at the Pink Goo.

I hope you're happy with yourself!

This cyclone reminds me of a first year student going overboard with bevels into their 3D modeling portfolio.

Truth.  I really like the bulkiness, but something elegant got lost along the way.

"I'm a mime stuck behind an invisible wall!"

I imagine that's how lots of actors feel when filming effects-heavy sequences.  I know I couldn't do it with a straight face.  I'd be forever making the lightsaber vmm vmm noises with every swing 😂

I prefer to take the view that, in his prime, Picard was such a consummate diplomat that he just never made any mortal enemies.

To me, this moment right here is peak Jean-Luc Picard.

He never had any big bad who could come back in Picard and just try to ruin his life since 90% of his encounters with hostile aliens ended like that. So instead, most of his issues in the Picard series are self-inflicted.

Nay nay!  THIS is peak Picard, at his awesomest.

He's diplomatic.  He's working towards peace.  He's trying to bridge the gulf between two species so recently enemies.

But he's nobody's fool, and he's NOT to be trifled with.  The very definition of silk hiding steel.

Most everything else about this movie was great - except for the Star Wars bit. And the lack of F-35 past 10 seconds in.

It's scary how much FUN this movie is.  I'd dismissed it as another American military propaganda piece (which it is, make no mistake), but I was so entertained from start to finish.  It hit all the right nostalgia notes (Rooster singing, the beach scene) and the new bits were just as good (stealing the F-14, Mav splitting the throttles), and love him or hate him but Tom Cruise is on *point* in this film.

It was stupidly fun, and still is.

To me the reason doesn’t matter. I love the armor and it’s the best part of the show. The mecha is ok to me, but the armor designs are what caught my imagination as a kid and still look cool to me now.

Or that, yeah.  Rule of Cool has been a thing forever and it has its place in shows of all types.

I think Dave should've stuck with animation, it was better that way.

I haven't seen Ahsoka, nor do I have any interest in doing so.  But is it just me, or is she Dave's "creators pet character"?  'Cuz it seems like she's shoe-horned into any story he's involved with to me.

It’s really just the rule of cool in sci fi. Why make a stormtrooper bright white? Or even worse, why make the scout troopers that mostly are trying to stay hidden bright white. It’s because they’re a fictional military and sometimes the colors or bling are for symbolism or status rather than for function

No, the reason why is so people like us can argue, bicker, nitpick, and otherwise disparage each other's head canon explanations! :p

Imma stick with my knight-in-shining-armour theme, tyvm.  It makes total sense after the Rain of Death!

  10. I've always excused the blingy armours as a direct reaction to the Rain of Death.  These people have taken on the roles of knights in shining armour, a symbol for the citizenry that law and order have returned.

Does it make sense?  Engh, kinda not really.  But it's enough for me 😊

That’s why they have super cool armor.

not only that, but one mode is just for fast travel and the other is supposed to just be long range artillery. After that the close combat mode is covered. Not that they cared enough about their training to be able to use them properly

Yeah, the open cockpit modes are usually for travel or very long-range bombardment.

I also head-canon it as the fully-enclosed cockpit had teething issues in development (like the F-35s helmet display) and the tankers were promised that it was getting fixed Soon (tm).

Don't worry, something much more accurate is on the horizon...

The Battle Sniper mode is pretty decent, but the Clapper mode is an utter trainwreck. Understandable as it needs many minute adjustments to go from one to the other.

It does look rather tall and skinny in Tank and Guardian modes, doesn't it?  But it's Battloid mode is pretty decent.  The curse of trying to make a poorly engineered and even more poorly animated design into a 3D object, eh?

I have trouble reconciling Dana in full body armor + helmet, and without. When she's in the body armor but with frontal mask or helmet removed, it looks like some sort of crossover between 2 different franchises.

    How perfect for Robotech!

I ran into that same problem with my larger Dana Sterling statue.  Armour without helmet is just... not good.

    LOL....yeah it's awful...

Looks like the unholy mix of a VF-1J and a VF-2SS....

Ah-HA!  That's the mecha it reminded me of!  The teeny chestplate in Battloid mode really does evoke the VF-2SS.  Same slender, needlenose like pointy chest bit.

That's a good thing, since I really like the VF-2SS.  But I don't like this VF-1J any more.  Fugly!
