Yes they seem to be UCAVS. Cool!!

I can't tell you a store name since I live in Southamerica, but just go where the architects ussually buy their stuff (best places are the shops at the architecture faculties and the like) The architecture and industrial design students ussually make a lot of prototypes and mock ups and they use roughly the same material that you need for scratchmodeling (since they actually do that as homework!! ) When I was a chemistry student (a decade ago) I ussually crossed the campus to the architecture and design faculty building not only because there were some hot babes (at least compared with the chemistry, physics and math students) but because there were half a dozen of stores selling plastic sheets, plastic and wood rods and profiles, spray paints, airbrushes, cutters, x-acto knives, cements, waterproof markers... ahhh a modeler's heaven. And yes those cheap Heller models have a lot of useful shapes for kitbashing.

OK. Here is a pic of me operating a Scannig Electron Microscope (at least it is not a machinegun!!! I use the weapons of a mad scientist since that's what I am)

Garbage is a good source for scratchbuilders. Really, I collect all sort of plastic material (polystirene mostly) from plastic lids, forks, spoons and so. For sheet styrene although hobby shops ussually have them you can find cheaper and bigger ones at art stores and of course, in plastic stores (specialized in selling acrylic rods, plastic sheets and the like) Two parts epoxy clay is also a must have. For kitbashing parts use those non expensive kits (I use Heller 1/100 line since here they are ~1u$s) The evergreen plastic rods and profiles are also a good thing to gather.

Yes, M0 action scenes are really hard to understand . I can't hardly wait until a cartoon producer in the US edits out the whole thing so we can all understand it. It would also rock if they make some sort of saga combining it with Yukikaze (another difficult one) Seriously: those new scenes are gorgeous. What are those fighters that are being taking off from the ASKA??!! I mean these:

I ussually add these addons parts (pun intended) and other small supplies (Gundam markers, masking tape, decals etc.) with larger orders to have 0$ shipping charge on them. They calculate shipping by size and/or weight so adding small things like those don't sum to the final shipping charge.

The Robotech RPG is known to contain errors relative to Robotech data too, though I've forgotten specifics. Thanks Ewilen! Very useful pics! I will check my models heights. BTW, I couldn't resist: The whole Robotech thing is known to be an error.

Awsome!! Excellent work! (BTW: I dared to examine the 1/60 VF-1A decals sheet you sent me with a magnifier and I can even read some of the warning signs!!) Now you have to give it a small suitcase and reproduce that little pic from Perfect Memory

Here: Fa downloads There is a lot of good FA stuff there too. I've been reading the FA forums and they say that is impossible to modify the aircraft shapes in the game (that's why some aircraft are represented by others in some mods... sad but seems to be true) One of the most anoying things was the falklands (Malvinas) missions without Canberras (represented by A-6 or the like) and Pucaras...

FA!! Great game! I play it time to time, it is so fun to have so many planes to fly! I know a Microsoft FS 2000 VF-1J. It has the three modes but it just fly and transform, no missiles nor gun shots... borring as the FS... A FA valk mod would be great. I used to play with the FA toolkit to mod some planes. I knew how to change the weapons load, explosions damage radious, engine power, and so but I don't know how to create a new plane (in fact some people used to mod the skins and sounds) Let me know if you find something on this topic.

Nice work!! I think you were right doing both models toghether: you can save a lot of time that way. In general I'm not very convinced about shading in model planes. But yours look really good, though. Tell us more about your diorama project!!

Nothing like the Bandai Gundams in the Macross realm. The closest things are the M7 1/144 models. They have colored parts and stickers for some details. The Hase models are molded in the basic color and the battroids includes an annoying colored chest plate. You can build it without painting but the exhaust and guns need some paint though. Decals do the rest of the job. But: don't be lazy. No paint no gain!! Even a simple handpainted model looks much better than an unpainted one.

It is purple (funny thing I thought that from Tenjin's art work first) Look at the yammie fast packs below the helmets: their color is just right. Even the one in fighter mode is a Max and the blue stripe and skull background is clearly visible.

My custom Appleseed landmates, 3 types
Gerwalker replied to physioguy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Nice landmates! Which size they are? How do you made them? -
Nice model! It's a pitty that you are leaving the hobby I can see talent in that VF. If it is a matter of time or money you can always aim to smaller projects and continue modeling. Please, let me tell you this: I considered to leave my hobbies too when doing my PhD but then I found myself in a foreing country working and studying the whole day with very little money (rame for dinner) and even then I managed to bought some kits (simple ones) some primary colors and a couple of brushes... So I never leave modeling even in the worst situations. David: you are right it is a disruptive cammo but at least the markings are low viz, don't they?

Yep, Macross Helmets are better for Motocross racing than for piloting a fighter. The whole flight suit (DYRL?) seems to be a motocross suit...
-
I don't like that shade of purple either, but anyone knows if Hidetaka Tenjin is involved in the art of the new PS2 game?
-
I really don't know were to post this. First time I found the purple helmet issue was in the toy forums but is conected to the new ps2 game but is also related to old artwork...Topic about Yamato 1:60 GBP-1 !?, Hobbyshow in Japan There is a pic of the new 1/1 helmets and one of them was purple: Then Graham said: Yes, the purple color helmet is a tie in from the squadron (team?) that fly purple color Valks in the upcoing PS2 game. For pics of these purple Valks go check out the pinned PS2 game thread in the game forum. Today revisiting Tenji's site I've found this very old pic of a Valk pilot wearing a purple helmet: Tenjin's work has being used in a lot of the official macross stuff (DVDs, Hasegawa's box art and decals, etc.) It would not surprise me that the inspiration for the purple helmet in the PS2 game came from him...

s'okay. no hard feelings i guess i should maybe just refrain from complimenting or just do it in a manner that won't be interperated the wrong way. my bad. didn't mean to come off as being negative. That is sick (extremely awesome) Since we have a lot of native english spokers (sp?) from around the world here and in every place they have their own version of slang (not to mention engrish and it's variants) I guess that if we all start writting in slang sooner or later a war would erupt!! I've learnt a lot of slang just reading these forums but considering the international nature of the forums plain english (or something like that in my personal case) would be better. My two cents. Terrific work electric indigo!!

All the robots were kung-fu fighting...
Gerwalker replied to Doktor Gonzo's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
They are quite fast. There are some movies available in the japanese site liks. I've seen some of these robots in a discovery channel documentary sometime ago. The size of the things are rougly like the Yammie 1/48s (just imagine a self transforming and walking valk...) In that show the robots were very agile but they fall very easily. -
Courtesy of Macross World links section (this is actually the 3D works page not a link to his home page): Tenjin's 3D works Just scroll down and look for the M+ DVD. BTW: The other works are awsome too. The box art from Gundam and Patlabor are superb (not to mention the ones we already know so well from Macross) I don't really like so much the VF-1 Battroid box art and the one from the calendar with the YF-19 and 21 are fighting in earth orbit.
-
Late reply, but finally I found the pics (they are in Tnejin's site in CG works: Macross Plus DVD) Both the YF-19 and the 21 have the words written around the UN Spacy symbols (I think it is a good thing that Hasegawa includes them, love those guys in Hase!!). Here is the YF-21 cockpit by Tenjin san:

Thanks a lot. Good article. Just for the record (and argentine modelers): GloCot has a lot of different formulations. The common type has wax in it's composition so it is no good for modeling. I have yet to try the other varieties but since I have a bottle of the original american stuff I will wait until finish it

I've found this site looking for Tenax composition. The link deals with glues, fillers and plastics: Thinking about plastics
