How much of an addition can you put on your house for $190/mo? I have no idea. I'm not sure how loans for that sort of stuff works. Scratch that, I just did some cypherin'. A $35,000 home equity loan would run you about $200/mo. You can do a pretty good size basic addition for $35K. And in theory it's an investment. Not burned money like rent is.

Where in the world, and that means America,  can you get a decent house with a decent location for 35k?

Gah, i am sucker for fighter mode! They look weathered, and I love it when they seem to be flying  formation. I wish these too came with guns, just for the sake of it.

  3. I wish I had a bunch of money to resolve everyone's overstocking problems...

@Shizuka the Cat, i am not suggesting you get rid of your valks, or that you get additional storage, but... If you are willing to spend money on storage, why not get a place with more room or an extra room to make room for the valks? I do agree the most logical option would be to downsize the collection, but that can be tricky as some of these collectibles get radically expensive over time.

One thing that adds to the problem is the massive size of some boxes. I know they are big to protect the jewels inside, but man, just one boxed 1/48 yammie, with boxed fast packs, and boxed GPB armor take a huge amount of space. I am actually having the same problem. Is getting rid of boxes the solution? I haven't been able to get rid of any boxes, but i do have some valks I bought out of the box, and i am ok with that.

  4. I wish this new x-wing didn't have droopy wings. I had to put toothpicks under the wings to keep them from drooping in my older, similar version of it.. They went to all the trouble of weathering it, and putting more gimmicks on it, and yet, they forgot to address the droopy elephant in the room... Bummer. Poe's fighter does look more solid, but at that price, and with my current disappointment of the new sequels, it is an easy pass.

OMG all this is very tempting, but i will have to pass for now. I do want to get that Mandalorian from you @sh9000 . That Mandalorian armor is a guilty pleasure of mine... which is perhaps the only thing i can afford right now, lol.

Better times are ahead, and we just need to power through the difficult ones! Full throttle!

My love of big toys certainly creates its challenges. He's about 2" too tall (without the battle axe) for a Detolf.

I was thinking of getting those adhesive rubber feet, to stick them under the glass, where the bar meets the glass. Too see if i can raise it the glass enough for my old Bandai SDF-1 to fit with the guns straight up. I have the canons at a slight inclined angle right now. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XPFDQBH/?coliid=I2NNTWK8A010J5&colid=1ACO6KMXBEIRI&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it I haven't tried it, but hey. At your own risk, there is my future idea.

No time to arm it up yet but it is sweet! I know, late pass but this is the 40th edition:D

So Warpath owed money to some Gundams, and he hired a Zaku as a bodyguard?

Nicely done @Slave IV, you got one.

I think these non-canon schemes are great because it gives KC something unique to sell... if you like these there's only one place to get them. For everything else, KC has an uphill battle. Bandai's Hi-Metal toys are not as full featured but they're cheaper and are a much more polished product with a robust line of schemes, destroids, and bad guys. If KC fixes the missiles their toy still won't compete with Arcadia's 1/60 line so their sweet spot is really limited. Basically, if the Hi-Metal R doesn't have enough features or look good enough to you, you can spend 33-50% more (roughly) and get the KitzConcept. However, if you're willing to pay $115 for a bare KitzConcept, you're only $100 away from a top of the line DX toy or an Arcadia toy WITH super parts. I think a lot of people at that point will talk themselves into the cheaper option or into saving for one of the better options.

    Pretty much this.

My current daily is an auto and to be honest I hate it. Well I dont hate the car, its actually fairly nice to drive but the fact its auto makes it sluggish as its an older 4speed.. Before we purchased this car I drove a couple others in manual but we wanted a wagon so our options were then limited and the only wagon manual they were asking ridiculous money for.. maybe one the auto burns up I'll do a manual conversion.

One of my previous daily's was a manual a 2003 Mazda 6 and I loved it! And I really didn't mind stop go traffic. Had that for about 3 years and only sold it as I wanted a Holden V8 again. Regrets doing that as I should have kept it.

My current manual SS isn't a daily but I did cop a little flak for not going with an auto.. Oh the auto is a faster car, oh they are easier to drive and paddle shifters are cool and it auto blips etc etc All good points yes but they lack that engagement you get with a manual. And I have learnt how to heal n toe and properly blip on down shifts and its such a satisfying feeling getting it right. Also impresses others when I take them for a spin in it!

My misses owns a 2012 Holden (Chevy) Cruze and its an ok car. Feels solid and finished well but its an auto. But the gearbox is indecisive and  constantly hunts around for the right gear and its not a nice experience. Definitely not a good combination with the 1.4 Turbo engine. The manual version of the very same car is something else! Like a completely different car! I considered getting one before the wagon and took a couple for a test drive. So much nicer and more fun experience. Yeah it was a tad notchy and the bite point was a tad high on the pedal but nothing a little getting use to wouldn't fix.

When she drove it her first words were.. I should have got the manual eh! But her concerns were the daily stop go traffic commute to work.

Not bashing autos as a whole and yes there are some amazing auto (dct) only cars out there which are insane but for me the driving experience just isn't the same. I don't like being denied the feeling of full control.

i have to agree with this. I have tried several automatic transmissions and only one came close to a decent experience. My ex GF had an Infinity G37, and that automatic held gears, downshifted when slowing down, and it seems to almost know what gear was next, but it did hunt or hesitated around a bit. I agree, it is not the same or as satisfying of an experience.  I guess involvement, is a big part of it.

Pretty cool.  I want one in 1/100 scale.  I would love a Ghost X-9 toy with that glossy red.

I was expecting it to be 1/100 for some reason, but it seems slightly bigger than that. What i love is you can clearly see spike's head and hands from that close up frontal pic. It is an oddie in my collection, and I don't even know where to put it. One thing is certain, I really like it. The sad part is that i got it on sale, which may mean Bandai wont release Fay's Redtail. We will see what happens.

I gave up on wishing for a proper Ghost X-9, but i agree, I'd look lovely in that color.

If my site weren't down I could answer all those questions with pictures but i'll have to go off memory:
    1) HMR added a removable nosecone, if you're going to put a GBP on, you need HMR
    2) HMR added beefier biceps
    3) HMR added a clear visor to the 1J head IIRC. Later in the HMR line, they made the one head a ball joint which added more articulation
    4) Metal hinges in the shoulder area
    5) HMR nerfed the backpack lock that exists on HM toys (which makes HM toys superior in this regard, no idea why they did that)
    6) HMR VF-1S head has been improved (pictures would really help here)
    7) HMR uses pale gray instead of white for DYRL

The original Hi-Metal toys are pretty old at this point so buying them used is dicey, yellowing and loose parts is pretty common. Hope that's it, I had to go from memory... I'm hoping to get anymoon back up this afternoon.

OH man thanks for the info Jenius. I have wacthed your videos, and now some of it came back to me. Every so often i go to your videos for reference, but I was tired, and forgot, sorrry. I should have gone back and re-watch them.

@Shizuka the Cat for the link!

It was fun...but the problem was, and probably continues to be, that there are not enough photoshop gurus with free time and waaaay too many guys with cool toys and the available time to pose them! :drinks:

If you have the time @vlenhoff it would be great to see you create some more photoshop magic again! :clapping:

Yeah it was fun. Back then i sold my place, moved. You can imagine what it feels to dust and pack-up years of Macross, StarWars, and Transformers goodness. That and we got super busy at work, so time was scarce.

Thanks for the compliment! I'll give it another shot, but please be patient with me! We all have so much to do, and sometimes we have little time for our hobbies. :cray:

Even reissues of several toys would do better. They should reissue Hikaru with GBP and give him the new neck and DYRL yellow missiles, do a Focker release, the regult could use another round, lots of options over the non canon scheme of a not hugely popular design.

So the main changes between HM and HMR are the neck and the shoulders now being metal hinges? Was there a floppiness problem with the original HM line, or was it only Hikie's 1J? I am very tempted to get Roy's HM, but I wonder if i will regret it.
