  1. I personally can't really choose between these two. Both the YAmmie 1/60 and the DX are beautiful to behold, but what i don't get, if why the 1/60 and the DX wont do the fighter mode like the Yammie 1/48 does. That part, were backpack meets the legs at the back, is the best part of the Yammie 1/48. It is tight, and it looks just like it did in the animation. Even the HMR has that tiny gap back there for some reason.

The weirdest thing is I have seen that little gap even in non transforming fighters. Maybe i am just neat picking...

  2. I did ride a bike a few years, but in Houston, you have to have 6 eyes on your head, and trust that everyone around you is an idiot. You have to assume no one saw you, and that everyone will get in your way, because no one saw you.

I did get rid of my bike, but the feeling is like no other, you and your engine, and all of the dangers of the road, you body will face, since you have no safety cage around you. One thing i loved was getting to 70 mph in the blink of an eye, which is still exhilarating!

Now i am just into light and nimble cars. While the WRX is not the lightest of them all, a curb weight of 3152 lb is still on the lightish side. I do want to get mea miata, just to ride around. Miatas have no power, but they do turn and drive very crisply. Maybe get into a racing series later on. It is all about carrying the speed through the corners, and that's so much much.

If you still drive a motorcycle today, the only thing i can say is, just assume no one know you are there. That's why i tell my friends to ALWAYS use turn signals. You might be saving a motorcyclist's life.

Forget the puny DX valks! I want this, which is being created for the upcoming Tamashii event. I’d find room for it in my house...somewhere.

it is 95% beautiful, except for the joint where the arm meets the chest. . It is just a square bar, lol. Other than that, it looks amazing, but I'd never have one... Everything i own MUST transform, if it is meant to transform. Just me.

Hey @jenius, I know you're a master scaler. What scale are the GN-U DOU non transforming Macross plus bots? Are they about 1/82 scale?, as they are about the same size as the HMR when you stand them next to each other. I have the weathered trio, which will soon be for sale. Or maybe I'll keep them, but they don't transform :(

Actually i have seen the tamashii trident stands being used for the DX by some JP users.
If using the standalone, you could also arrange 3 individual stands, 1 holding the nose, 2 holding the legs, tho it has to be on a very stable platform to begin with...

    I stand corrected.

Loving my 1A Max.  I still think it's crazy that such a plot-heavy scheme never got a chunky-monkey release, and I'm really happy to have it now in the form of a stellar DX. My only quibble would be the overlong head-laser.  They made this thing a frickin' narwhal.  I cut off nearly 7/16th of an inch within a few hours of opening the beast up, (and drilled and sanded and polished back to factory fresh -- I'm no barbarian), and it's still a little bit longer than the lasers on the 1J.  And, I think, looks nicely like most of the animation and lineart now.  I attached some post-surgery pics.

    A few notes:

    - Not a big deal, but I do wish the shoulder lights were more orange than yellow.

    - The yellow for the wingtip and back-of-hands light-strips are a deeper yellow on this release.  I think I prefer the paler yellow on the 1J.

    - Swing-bar connection is much tighter on this release.  Never bothered me on the 1J, but for those that complained, looks like it won't be an issue going forward.  (At least, if my sample is anything to go by.)

Awesome release.  Bring on the 1D and the TV-style 1A cannon fodder.

Amazing work, wow! Yes I thought the laser canon was a bit long too, but I am fine with it. Your work is fantastic, wow congratulations!. That's just perfect plastic sculpting right there! A little distraction, or excessive force anywhere, and it would have been ruined. Great job! :good:

TV vs movie and a hope that Bandai gives us a blue 1S.

It is amazing how these animators drew an awesomely articulated Valkyrie out of Kawamori's art. Here we are in 2019 recreating these frames with the newest computer assisted "toys".  I know the animation had a lot of errors, but that's what now makes it special. Frame by frame with sweat tears and ink, they made this possible. I rememebr thinking as a kid, they will never be able to make a proper transforming toy that could recreate the poses from the show, but here we are today.

This is a job for a Yeti detolf adapter.

Not a big fan myself, but it could be a solution. i am cheap though, I like my stands under 15 bucks xD

That top left display of them all flying in formation is awesome. Are those the Tamashi action stands you’re referring to?

I got these initially, for the price.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WV067XQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Then i found them in clear, so i combined them to make them extra tall.

I think a riser here and there might distribute the fleet even better

Also, what are these locks? And are they scary to live with?

@db626 What are these locks? where did you get them? Did you cut glass for it, or did you get acrylic layers?

    Thanks in advance. :drinks:

Something about that first pic isn't right...

The Yamato 1/48 may look a bit wonky in battroid, but that fighter is still stunning! And having a correctly sized pilot doesn't throw the entire scale off!

    Marvelous!

I know my Bandai 1/55 must be somewhere in a box... like in Raiders of the lost Ark

I went on deep trip down memory lane, and I found my first "love". I tried to take a picture of it in nearly the same angle as did with my second "love", years ago.

I was going to transform DX Hikkie into fighter, and take a picture of it, but I started reading the news about Syria... mood killed.

I like the 1/48 because it's SO beefy. That said, when taking everything into account I think the 1/60 edges it out. That's coming from a "Big Toy Guy".

I need to sell some of my 1/48 GPB armors. I have like 8 of them new in box, resting inside boxes, doing nothing.

Yeah the 1/60 GPB is more line art accurate. Beefy, though, is the best way to describe the 1/48 GPB.... and I like beef...

This could also be filed under the "how do you display your valks" thread, but my solution to this problem generated by Bandai's 1/48 DX line was to get a clear acrylic monitor display stand through Amazon and put some of my "in flight" valks on those so you can see them in the background. Way cheaper than official display risers and they can hold a lot more weight if needed. For example:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075WSW2BK/

Yeah i started to notice the vertical empty space in my Detolfs recently. This is why i got those tamashii action stands a while back. the risers are a great idea/solution!

Yeah, I got a bunch of Hikaru 1Js too, it’s not that I don’t like it, just not as much as almost every other version. Again, except with GBP which puts it on a whole other level.

Oh, absolutely, 1J in GPB gear is just great. Now, a 1S in GPB is sublime! IMHO

    post-48-1197646447_thumb.jpg

I know the 1/48 GBP is not the best iteration of the GPB armor, but man, it looks so monstrous, i love it.

I'm having the same first world problem with my Max. I had to squeeze him onto a shelf right in front of my HMR Monster.

    20191013_115317.thumb.jpg.9d2c29c107c48de187e346457ca32af3.jpg

I had to settle by putting Miria at the back. I have the feeling, she wont like this very much, being a Zentraedi and all.

  14. 28 minutes ago, Slave IV said:

Yeah, I was never a fan of Hikaru’s 1J...Except with GPB, all covered up, which is then probably my favorite all time.

The thing is, I do have an uncanny love for the Hikkie's 1j, and I have him in every scale, but as i write this, I just realized I actually have [now] one more Max overall, ha. I do love the 1J max too, as you can see in my shelves, lol. I forgot i had Max in HMR too, momentarily. I don't even have a 1S in HMR, at the moment.

If anyone wants to donate an HMR or HM 1S to my shelf, i promise I will take good care of it.

In addition, I believe the Dx series has the best gun strap solution of them all. I am actually using the gun straps, and that says it all. This stupid line is growing on me, and i don't like it. :help:

  15. So... i ran out of room. There is rush hour traffic on my shelf. A 1st world problem, i know.

While I still think the Yammie does a better job in fighter mode, specially where the legs meet the back pack at the back of the plane. I must say, in Battloid and Gerwalk mode, Bandai absolutely takes the cake. I have always wanted to have battloid mode to hold the gun over the shoulder using the gun strap, and now It can! I must admit, this thing is beautiful, and it bothers me I could not get the 1S on PO night. I simply didn't have the funds for the over inflated price. I was there on time, on PO night, and all the online stores i had ready, basically went kaput. Weirdly, I am more satisfied with Max's, more so than Hikaru's. This is the unicorn I always wanted, and I can't wait for Kakizake. Bandai better finish the Vermilion squadron... or else... I will have a meltdown.

  16. Well, I wasn't very inspired to unbox anything, but I decided to take Max out, and check if the shoulders were properly assembled. I am glad to report the shoulders are fine, and I was able to transform it, very carefully without the swing bar splitting on me. This thing is amazing, and i believe it is slightly better constructed than my Hikaru release. The wings close flush and leveled at the back, and somehow the feet feel better. The only first world problem is... I've ran out room. Time to get another detolf, but as always, that will have to wait. I am officially in limp mode, as priorities are a thing.
