woowee! finally got a chance to read the entire thing, nice review. i think you're being a little too generous towards toynami but thats just me. one incorrect detail in your review, you stated that these are perfect transformation(Charm & Collectibility) which they clearly aren't. you might want to change that before people start thinking its a mini 1/48. 421679 He probably meant that parts swapping is not needed for transformation. The gear and the heatshield/canopy are the only parts that can be removed for transformation but you don't necesarily need to take off(well gear of course but you get the point).

is this an impending fiasco? A debacle even? haha... i don't care if it has weak hip joints, I'm just in it for the tapes. I loved them little transforming tapes. 421296 I'm wondering if the tapes (or tape, only one has been seen) will be diecast as well, or if they'll be plastic. Hopefully plastic so their teensy little joints can actually function. 421315 Soundwave is diecast but lazerbeak is plastic. Revealed during SDCC coverage on some tf forum -
We will see them. I heard somewhere when funimation was accounced as the distributor that they wanted them since it would be good in promotions and they wanted a series that could sell toys. Also it was mentioned@the panel I went to.

Jenius that review was well worth the wait man. I'm waiting for wave 1 to hit my local stores. So far no luck. You and Ginrai seemed to be 2 of the very few who can write unbiased reviews when it comes to Toynami's stuff. For 20$ I'm not expecting a 1/48, what I do expect is a 1/100 toy that can be PLAYED with. You can't say the same for a similar priced 1/100 swap transformation imai and bandai variable kit....both of which would probably fall apart in my hands like all models do.

Damn right we have it good. Instead of paying up thee ass for a 1/55, not too long ago we could have one or 40$. Now tell me noone wasdreaming that poo would happen back in the mid 90s!! Man it reminds me of the first time macrossworld was around. We were ALL hunting for the 1/55 in any which way or form, worshipped jetfire, and all waited to see what masterpiece Jung, and Rosario Love would turn up. Those were the days, the days when the 1/55 wasn't overshadowed but anything else and when we kept battying about how bandai would never put one out. BVut some things never change! Like even now, we still batty for a 1/55 strike, ELINT seeker and Super O HELL YES!!

I think its the animators that had artistic license when they were animating it(Tenjin). Regardless which is canon or not, I and I'm sure most of you, would have liked for Shin to have a distinct color scheme. It sets him apart from the cannon fodder 0A's. But the way the HFH is seeing it, they are ALL the same. Eh. But if he is pressuring Yamato to put a VF-0D perhaps this is the reason he wants the VF-0A to only have 1 color scheme. So that Shin has a dedicated valk(the one he used for most of zero). Eh I dunno still I would have wanted a distinct scheme for Shin's 0A, not ALL the 0A';s having the same color. I would have wanted the other 0A toys to have the brown scheme shown in episode 2

I've addressed it as both HG and Toynami, HG is the Cause, Toynami is the effect. And even if they didn't block Big West stuff, we'd still get crap Mospeada toys. 419943 True. What I want to know is who exactly is play testing these during r&d. OR if theres anyone even doing so. With all these alphas having arms falling off out of the box, it puzzles me.

hehe well with all the excitement of the yamato stuff you can forgive us for being a little distracted. I mean....the yf19 for crying out loud. All we pretty much need to know is if they succeed in beating the banpresto. Remember though there are not that many fans here of that to begin with so don't expect huuuge reaction. (banpresto falls apart and needs a bit of modding to hold together. It's more an acquired taste. But if this beats MPC then it is a win for those who want smaller scale at decent price) Unlike chunky munky I don't see many galleries where people dedicate to the banpresto because of that. I was hoping when they get to 1/100 destroids and other mecha we see some interesting galleries of it. (ie teams of valk with destroids etc) 419925 TO me the banpresto is what it is, a cheap candy toy not meant to do much. The real comparison should be between this and the imai/bandai 1.100 variable kits. These already beat them in the articulation and durability department...as well asnot having to swap outthe entire nosecone to facilitate transformation.

The latest cartoon stems more from the old comic than the old cartoon ever did. If the movie follows the same premise, AWESOME!~ I loved the old cartoon but realized how crappy and goofy it really was once I read the 1st issues of the old comic. yea they were always goofy but they kicked ASS in the comics! WHOA>...not as much goofiness, and tons of asskilling.

I'll tell you where my anger lies... first... you... haha, j/k I'm angry that the people that hold the license to Legioss and Mospeada toys are doing crap with it. And by crap I mean even though they've produced toys, they turned out to be complete turd. Toys that can barely hold together in any form. While other companies are making worth while the toys we like to collect because they hold a special place from our childhood, such as SOCs, The MP and BT/Alt line of Transformers, Macross, Aliens and Robocop from Hot Toys, we're getting shafted in the Mospeada department. I'm angry that the same company blocks toys that are more worthwhile and releases crap in exchange. They want a piece of the action from all the hard work that other companies slaved over and developed carefully while they pump out stuff that people are continously disappointed over. Not only that but they also lure people with the old "if you buy this, then MAYBE we'll make this..." Well maybe if you make it right in the first place, we'll buy it for no other reason... As I said over and over, my bias againt HG/Toynami is not blind dedication to BW or Yamato. It's from watching them continuously make promises they can't afford to keep, from both toy and animation side of things. I'm betting that the 1/6 action figures and the 1/100s are the best things that will ever come out of them... and like I said those 1/100s are barely mediocre. The only reason I'm giving the figures a chance is that Popbox is involved with them. Maybe if their costumers are not so optimistic and keep buying their below grade product they would have learned to put out good stuff by now. 419924 I think its HG thats mainly doing the blocking of imports, not necesarily toynami. It seems to me in regards to the quality of toys they are mainly going from what they hear from robotech.com's members, and a lot of them are not exactly "in the know:" when it comes to toys. I think they are looking for input from the wrong places. If they had someone from tmp or from here to playtest their toys during r/d I am sure most of their toys would have nowhere near as much engineering flaws and qc problems as they have been having.

fetched good price on ebay (of course Im talking about before they release the info about the 1/60 mechandise). 1/72 looks good too. I remembered my first day buying the 1/72 vs when I bought the MPC....the latter was a nightmare....AND, they have something that MPC fans were initialy told that were supposed to be used in the MPC line.....DIECAST.... tho the 1/60 kinda looks fugly, I still feel the security of playing that toy rather than the MPC toy...I mean, how much force would you use to transform your MPC alhpas vs the 1/60? Im sure the ratio is like heaven & earth oh well...here we go again with our so called hot topic of the century... My concluding point. I bought a few MPC alphas before and I can tell that theyre not even worth the money I paid. Until now, Im regretting paying a few hundred bucks for the MPC alpha (which has no value) when I should have bought the Yamato lines instead. I swear no matter how good Toynami products comes out to be, I will never try to ever purchase em no more. Looking at the pictures through websites would be enuff for me. 419905 For what its worth I actually like the MPC VF-1 more than the 1/60 VF-1. Aesthetics wise, the yamato trumps it through and through no question and its not even comparable, but stability wise....well those 1/60 hips FALL OFF ALL THE TIME. Ugh. Put it this way the 1/60 VF-1s are lemons unless you are displaying them, and the 1/48 is a much better toy to play with and looks better.....anyways... Also I should mention I never really felt bad paying for my MPC's as I waited months and got all of mine MIB for less than msrp. Hell I got roy MIB for 10$. Holy crap. The argument may say that sure the 1/48 is the better buy rather than even buying the 1.100. I only wish I could do that. Im stuck here with only 1 1/48 which I treasure a LOT. So until my potential comic career jumps off once school is over there ain't no 1/48s for me in the near future. This is where the 1/100 comes in. Its MUCH cheaper and hey when i pay 20$ I'm not expecting a masterpiece nor something worthy of worshipping and bowing to all Gods for. I' expecting cheap toy crack that I can army build if I please and mess around with on my computer desk or drawing table. I don't understand why a lot of people complain about the price on these yet never complain about how much the revoltech figures cost. (I know I am in the minority here). I know I don't have a 1/100 yet but I do know what to expect. And what do I expect? A cheap and more durable alternative to the 1/100 bandai/imai variable kits, and a transforming alternative to those suck ass ARII figures they made for the 15th anniversary. I always wanted a small valk toy just for convenience in addition to my high end bigger valks. And this seems to fit the bill. All my models break in my hand, all my toys do not. So for 20$, I will gladly buy these SOB;s over a variable 1/100 kit that would probably break within a day. But this is all IMHO, and this is the way I see it. And honestly you can't really compare it to much else. With a 1/48 your getting 150$ worth of engineering near perfection and accuracy we could only dream of back in the 80s. Hell none of the model kits back then were even this detailed! So the only thing to really compare the 1/100 to are the old variable 1/100 kits that imai and bandai put out. Same scale, similar subject matter, same part options. Toynami has the benefit of being more durable, about the same price, and having more articulation. So yes they seem worth it to me.(and I gotta add back in the late 90s, I WANTED those 1/100 variable kits so bad when they were reissued, but ccouldn't bring myself to buy them since I knew they would breaK). As for the alpha MPC I think with ratcheting redesign for the shoulders and other parts switched to diecast, it could be a winner. Its all up to them to redesign it. The BETA looked awesome and I hope they put it out but higher quality on the alpha would have made better sales. they'd probably be better off if they got one of us to play test. (And not dissing you robotech fans but judging by the panel I went to, I knew more than everyone in the entire room did about all the toys, and if these are the same fans they are basing the polls on I am not at all surprised at the results! Hell some of them did not even KNOW there were MPC's out! I'm not lying either!)

Nope, how tight to pull the legs down. BTW ladies and gents, despite how awesome the bwneo unicron looked, its been said that it was in acutality very very floppy and not that stable. The stance in some of the pics where its leaning forward with its legs sprawled in opposite directions kind of shows this. -
0A dude. Very unique.

Could be said about MOST of the gen1 Transformers, if you look at it objectively. But... what sort of Unicron WAS planned for the Gen1 release? I'm not familiar with it, and my curiosity is getting the better of me. 419624 Green egg shaped body with head and thin limbs...think Dr. Robotnik crack baby w/Boss Borot-like arms from Mazinga Z and the Unicron head and horns from cartoon. It was bad. Be happy it never came out. In fact the armada one looks more g1 accurate than the cancelled g1 unicron ever did! LOL but its very true!! *laughs* Green? Seriously? They could've at least spent money on a paint job... 419650 Yes green body. With bright orange yellow limbs. Trust me this thing would have been a monstrosity amongst the bigger transformers of g1 back then(Fort max, metroplex, dezaurus, scorponok, metroplex et al). The sculpting on those guys at least was bearable and they looked heavy, mechanized, and ready to kill. The g1 unicron proto looked like ass through and through. The armada one makes it look like a joke seriously. -

Beast Wars Neo. Takara made the sculpt, had a poll and petition but there were not enough fan fans that joined the petition for them to financially make it. It certainly looked awesome but Aaron Archer of hasbro did say that the prototype itself was a floppy mess and not very stable. Looks can be decieving fellas. Still that was a very impressive angry looking unicron. -

Thats because your not seeing the 1/72 from the sides in those pics...once you do that...HOLY MOTHER! TZhe old 1/72 looked like a fatty from the side, whereas the side profile of the new 1/60 is much better, and man that landing gear makes a world of difference! -

Classics at earliest will hit late summer. Saturation should be by november. Deluxe=$9.99 Voyager(Mega)-$19.99 Jetfire is in wave 2 and is a mega. There is another all new deluxe mold g1 prime in a 2pack with an all new deluxe green tank megatron for $19.99 and comes with a dvd. I hear the prime in this 2 pack resembles the robot master prime but is NOT robot master prime. He supposedly has a nontraditional weapon and internal gimmicks. The pics of megs that tfw recieved were most likely mistransformed btw. For what it is, unicron ain't bad. Totally better than what they were about to release in the mid80s. Good god. Talk about teh suck. Also I bought mine postxmas clearance@target in 03 for 22$, so I ain't complaining! And compared to the rest of armada, he ain't simple at all!(The only figures you really need from armada are unicron and deluxe "bendy prime", who turns out is also a targetmaster!) -

I'm glad they're making this Jetfire, but I so wish they made SKYFIRE just like from the cartoon, that was da bomb looking design. Stormbringer Jetfire looks too much like the compromise of the valkryie form to me. But still I'm getting him as well as the Titanium Jetfire when that comes out as well. 419559 If you move the faceplate up or down, he actually has g1 skyfire's head...same with chest......... -

Waittaminute your MIG29K from gpxd!! AWESOME man welcome aboard! And man I hope BBI DOES put out a MIG-29K as well! If only they would actually SAY something about whats coming out! Geez they are so secretive. MIG-29K is awesome, I LOVE those flaps on that thing and the dark navy gray blue color scheme! Great work on the BBI Hornet!~ They should get you to design the moving pieces on their birds, you made their already awesome hornet into something way more awesome! Its like day and night man! I believe the wings can swing forward like the F-14. For what its worth I like it, see in the old g1 skyfire was a huge ass space capable cargo plane. This one screams fighter yet maintains an homage to previous sky and jetfires. If anything its a fighter this time around and has an F-14 homage, which I love. Try finding his alt mode from the g1 series that Don worked on for DW that was cancelled(the one where sky or jetfire kicks sunstorm's ass). That alt mode is the same as this. btw his alt mode was always blocky it was never sleek. But if anything this blows ALL the former jetfire toys away!(cept g1 since he was a valkyrie but still this is GREAT! and the best one since!) And Kensei stormbringer just came out last wednesday, so you should track that down too! -

classics jetfire http://img58.imageshack.us/my.php?image=tf...5jetfiremp5.jpg definitely looks like g1 jetfire toy, g1 skyfire character design, and an F-14/NATF smacked into one!~ For those of you following Stormbringer or Don's G1 series that got cancelled, THIS design is a deadringer for how he drew Jet/Skyfire in those series. AWESOME!! BTW I think he has the helmet on in this small pic, it should be able to be flipped up to show the g1 skyfire face, which is in accordance of the rumor of having a face plate. BTW in the comics Don draws, jetfire/skyfire loooks like a uber homage bulked up bad ass g1 jetfire toy yet distinctly different from a VF-1`. THIS IS AWESOME! -

GREAT figure. Not the best transformer ever but if you liked the Unicron character or the old movie, you'll probably love the figure. You can even shove a minicon into his stomach. I give him a 4.5/5. Had his wings on his back been stable I would rate him higher. He's got great articulation and nice gimmicks. I only wish his missle gimmicks did not need a minicon to unlock them. He's got a good amount of detail too and he is imposing and evil looking. He is definitely a must have and the best figure from armada. -

Isn't in vehicle scale. Robots look like they'll be about even. And bot mode is what matters for a Transformer. 419108 Bit shorter. tformers.com has a pic from a japanese hobby show last week. Screamer only looks "even" with the stand and him suspended in mid air. But if one were to remove the stand and make them stand side by side, screamer is a few inches shorter.
