Yeah, I went to my local and only Fry's in Sacramento this past Sunday and they were sold out of the three movie extended edition box set at $72.99. I am sure that I will find copies at Walmart and/or Costco. I am just surprised at the demand.

Sadly, production only means so much. I am curious to see which director and writer will be attached to this.

Just to clarify, Kenner orginally made Star Wars toys. Hasbro bought them out and they are the current producer of Star Wars toys.

You know, I went to go buy it at Fry's and it was sold out. Then I went to Target, it was sold out. Anybody know where I can get this for 79.99 or less? (I'm talkin brick n mortar store not online stores) While prices may be regional, try Walmart. Mine in Sacramento is selling for around $72.99. Fry's increased their price to that as well after one day.

Thanks, just the nudge I needed to go buy it. For $5.83 for each of the 12 DVDs and it will be a few years before Jackson releases another version, this will be Christmas gift for myself.

This all depends on what you want and how much you want to spend. If you are in it for the nostalgia, be prepared to spend a lot of money. If you just want characters and vehicles from the original films, I would take full advantages of getting the Original Trilogy Collection available now. Someone did a comparison between the 20" Popinica Yamato and the BPX-01 Yamato. Currently, I can not find, but I will post the link if I locate it. From what I remember the 20" Popinica Yamato is a little bigger and obviously heavier. Essentially, I compare those two like the chunky monkey in comparsion to a 1/48 valkyrie. One is heavier and more rugged. The other is more delicate, but has more detail. Regrettably, the Museum of Leiji Matsumoto were released a few years back and are no longer produced. The toy pieces were released 24 years ago. Your best bet is when they occasionally pop up on eBay. During the Thanksgiving weekend, I will try to take more detailed and sid-by-side comparison pictures.

I'm not familiar with that line. I was talking about the miniatures for the Yamato war game. I took some quick and dirty pictures. How about just doing all the Matsumoto ships! I'd love to have a set. Too bad I've heard a lot of bad things about the Yamato/Star Blazers miniatures, otherwise I'd be picking those up. Are speaking of the Space Battleship Matsumoto or all of the various series he had a design in. If you have concerns about the Museum of Leiji Matsumoto series, I can tell you that I am very satisified with them. While the older Yamato display pieces may have a few moving parts, Museum of Leiji Matsumoto pieces have a lot of detail, but prove extremely delicate. I need to take apicture of my collection, but check my reply at the "Likelihood of a BPX-01 re-release?, Please Bandai/Diamond.. say yes." thread for some pictures by other people. While long sold out, also check out Just Be Toys' Yamato selection for some pictures.

I accept nothing is perfect so I can look past certain shortcomings that I have oberserved while watching this OVA. Overall, I pretty much like the story and the action. However, the one thing that annoyed me involved the ending where Shin flew out of the ocean with the flying fish and supposedly became a "bird man".
