you guys have been in one RP campaign for almost 3 years? that's a long time!

Yup, some of the faces have changed and we've added and lost a few people but the game timeline originally covered 6000 year period, and we just jumped about 10,000 years further on, there have been at least ten large scale wars in the campaign, we use d20 rules but I've dumbed down the mecha and ship rules.

why on earth do you need so many ships?

For new factions, this game has been running for about three years now and they are on their third set of characters, just trying to give them new options and new people to get beat up by.

Plus I get bored easily and like to throw new things at them.

You've got a choice from:

54 Aerodyne dropships weighing between 400 to 17,400 tons

59 Spheroid dropships weighing between 1900 to 100,000 tons

25 Jumpships weighing between 50,000 to 500,000 tons

74 Warships weighing between 6100 to 2,500,000 tons

To give you an idea of what each class does, the heavier warships have both normal ground type weapons as well as long range extremely powerful space weapons and usually carry some amount of dropships and aerospace fighters. The jumpships are usually not intended for prolonged combat and are more transport oriented. The spheroid dropships are fairly heavily armed with ground type weapons, with some even carrying aerospace fighters and can carryout engagements in space but are not manouvereable enough to do much in the atmosphere. The aerodyne dropships are fairly small but usually well armed and perform a similar role to the spheroid dropships except that they can perform manouvers in the atmosphere similar to an aerospace fighter.

I suggest that you check out Chaosmarch

Under Technical Readouts in the left hand menu just select either Inner Sphere, Clans of Kerensky or Star League then select Ships. If you spot any ship you like let me know and I'll send you a copy of it's specs and history.

Legend of Galatic Heroes. If you hadn't seen it, you hadn't seen operatic space battles. Their minor skirmishes probably involves a few hundred ships a side, and the really big ones involved thousands if memory serves.

There was also a line of collectible starship miniatures out a few months back. Not sure if they are still available nowadays.

Have you tried Banner of the star series? They have plenty of fleet engagement there with unique weapon (space-time mines).

I used to have a collection of art of the ships from that series, but it was lost in my crashed HD .

Other series that I can tell is from Heroic Age anime series, halfway of the series is full with major fleet battles. I'll try if I can get the scan from my Heroic Age official magazine abaout the ships in that anime.

I can get you CoTS, but only in a limited number. Because there are VERY few shots that show the entire ship due to their severe view angles or quickness of the shot. Also there doesn't seem to be an art book out there for the mechanicals only the characters.

Have you looked up Detonator Orgun? It also has similar ships, as does Voices of a Distant Star. And don't forget about Dirty Pair or Cannon God Exaxxion.

If you're just looking for ship designs then why not check out Battletech (CBT). It has a huge line up of ships from tiny dropships to massive battlecruisers. Be happy to help you out with details if any CBT ships take your fancy.

Umm Dream Pod 9 did the Jovian Chronicles saga, which featured some really nice designs (the best was the Valiant Class Strike Carrier).

Seriously there is always a anime spaceship post in there. But even then Google with a "Anime Spaceship" search description will net you hundreds of images.

LoGH!, GunBuster, Tenchi Muyo, Trigun, The World of Narue, Star Blazers, Battle Angel Alita: Last Order, and etc. But sadly you won't find very much along the lines of the Mospeada style.

What is LoGH!? As for Tenchi muyo I've been trying to relocate the pictures of the galaxy police HQ and Mihoshi/Kiyone's red colored ship that I found a few years back, unfortunately the computer I had at the time decided to eat it's hard drive and the pictures were lost.

Anybody happen to know some place where I can find images of the ships from Banner/Crest Of The Stars or Xenosaga.

just a note, in the article the ships are listed as uraga class and maizuru class.

The ship may still be referred to as an Uraga, but is more of a sub-class to that, just like the one from VF-X2 isn't actually a Uraga but more of a sub-class. As for the Maizuru same thing as with the "Uraga"

All of the ships in Frontier appear larger, although I still haven't seen the new Bolognese frigate that people have mentioned.

No, actually the bridge is the same, but the flight deck looks like it's been extended, even with the odd angle in the line art. In the line art the bridge is quite large in comparison to the rest of the ship.

It is possible that the Frontier Uraga is showing the "proper" scale of the carrier compared to Mac 7's animation.

Yeah the distance between the lower deck hangar openings and the deck edge are definately longer.

I noticed that too about the capital ships.

Now that I've had a chance to look closer, it's looking almost twice as long as the original.

Looks like they made the Uraga alot bigger and made the Guantanamo less chunky as well. Definately like the 171, and love seeing the VB-6 back.

Honestly if I had a $ for every time someone assumes the kid is an instant wiz just because he shot a gun and killed something, I'd be able to afford the CMs Legios + Tread.

I mean it can't be that hard to just fire the gun at a target? He didn't even have to fly the damn plane and already people are judging him as being too smart for his age. Keep in mind too that, max was really young and inexperienced yet kicked hikaru's ass in terms of things killed. Where does that skill come from? They had prior training beforehand, or they understand machines at an early age because their dad or whatever gave them a headstart. It's not that uncommon is it?

But I do see older pilots being discriminated against generally. It's like the makers of the show blame wars on the adults and want them to seem evil compared to the younger pilots. (how many times in gundam is it the parents being portrayed as irresponsible and weak for buckling under pressure to "the man" and causing the teen to hate them?) This is possible due to how anime is aimed at teens. Maybe the adults in mecha shows are like the "muggles" in harry potter books? The "wizards" are those who pioneer, bring change, transform things, and the doubters are the ones stuck to the real world so they are not allowed to perform unbelievable feats in the anime?

Firing guns and hitting a moving target is not easy, I know several cops and they've told stories, and I've also seen videos where both sides were within six feet of each other and still missed more than half the time.

Am I the only one who thinks the military responded quite mildly to the threat? Sure, they had some tanks and soldiers trying to machine gun the monster, but I was expecting like 20 Apaches around that thing like hornets. F-22's, Napalm... the works...

They should have called that special ops team from Transformers

If a Bradley's main gun couldn't hack it against the monster I doubt an Apache would do much good, and if I remember correctly they mentioned using Hornets to attack the monster, plus you don't really want to napalm an area that Civvies are still evacuating from.

When I want to watch a monster movie featuring a Godzilla type monster, dispense with the reality tv drama.

Yeah, yeah your theory can work. Yang was trying to access Sharon's emotional program and because of that Sharon surely found a way to infiltrate the New Edwards Test Flight Center computers through Yang's computer.

I doubt that, it does however show Guld hacking into the bases computer system.
