  1. Just one: Skanda I was tempted to submit Agni, but it tends to get butchered more when changed into Japanese phonetics and there's already been a "Fire Valkyrie" . In addition, Skanda has a lot more symbolism and association with Vajra than Agni does. Though, I'm sure Kawamori Shouji could appreciate the origins of both terms.
  2. I just went back and rewatched and rewatched that segment of the opening credits. I was going to say this thing and that thing and reference jaw lines - but the eye colour seals things. Ranka - reddish eyes Sheryl - blue eyes Alto - brown eyes Maiko - brown eyes.
  3. I DLed the [Q-R] Macross Frontier releases, and had trouble playing the mp4 as well. I attempted to get it to run in WinAmp, and even with DLing some changed codecs and other prefrences changes, I could only get the audio to work at best. I searched and found info leading to my installing the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack. In the process, it removed some things (possibly the Haali Media Splitter) and replaced them with more functional alternatives. The mp4 file worked, and the media player that comes with the codec pack is pretty funky (though, I'd already DLed it on another occasion.) The playback is really great, and even at 100% scaling, the image takes up almost all of my screen (letterbox style - I'm running on a Qosmio laptop - don't ask about how it handles heat disappation... >.< )
  4. Up until now, I've been thinking that it was Sheryl dressed as a maiko.
  5. The fast transforming is one of the specific traits of the VF-25. There's info out in Japanese that specifically states this.
  6. Could be the opposite - they are waiting patiently for a distributor to approach them. That said, look at all the other anime being exported. It's not a "us Japanese don't want to sell to non-Japanese", but something particular to Macross and/or the perceived (lack of) popularity with the anime/entertainment/character goods/etc. that are not exported from Japan. (Though if we talk about physical products that must be transported across an ocean to reach the customers. consideration must be made regarding the shipping and currency exchange costs added to the item. Therefore, one can see a lot of high value goods being exported (model kits, Yamato toys), but not much of the low value goods (stationary goods, Keitai straps, etc..)
  7. Done.
  8. Yes. There's a lot of subtext going on, if one is familiar with the terms. I just looked up Vajra in wikipedia (doing a bit of research for the VF-25 pet name), and found even the brief primer contained therein to be interesting. I'm not sure how closely Macross F will have the Vajra follow the real world Vajra... but the closer they are to it...
  9. Good questions. Very good. I guess we'll have to wait until later in the series. Though I have the following two thoughts: 1) Kawamori San loves Gundam. Gundam has sharpshooter GMs with enhanced beam rifles. 2) there were no power cables attached to the gunpod; thus decreasing the possibility that it's an energy weapon (though, there's the possibility of having a small thermonuclear reactor or something similar inside, but that'd make the weapon much heavier and more dangerous than it needs to be.)
  10. All vehicles in the colony fleet in Macross 7 not only had manuevering jets (not sure on the manuring ones) and were space worthy. It's not a big stretch if the same is true in Macross F. If memory serves, the cars in DYRL? had some type of grapple system that shot out whenever gravity was lost.
  11. Here's a suggestion: When looking for info on subs, don't actually read the page. Open it, and do a search for specific terms on the page. If nothing comes up, then you'll have saved both time and the chance of accidently reading a spoiler.
  12. They probably have something to do with stabilization when firing as well as aiming. I'm sure there are additional sensors (wind speed, distance, gravity, etc.) as well in them.
  13. The other alternative is the Omnidirectional Barrier. Though, the tradeoff to blocking everything coming towards the ship, everything leaving the ship is also blocked. Eg: no VFs can launch, no guns can fire, no missiles can be launched. I'm certain that a main gun can be fired and penetrate the barrier via overloading, but there's a good chance the ship would be fried in the process, and the barrier would be offline after that; thus defeating it's purpose. The pinpoint barrier allows for both a partial defense as well as a complete offense (presuming that attacks and launches are coordinated here.)
  14. Not necessarily. It only means that that 37 Long Range Emmigration missions were launched, with no indication of any or all of the Megaroad class ships being reused in a subsequent mission. It must be kept in mind that the end goal of a Long Range Emmigration mission is to find a planet to colonize and not end up wandering the galaxy aimlessly...
  15. Yeah, we knew back in December before the Deculture Edition was broadcast. He's the okama of the Macross. PS His name's Marugo.
  16. The only way to avoid spoilers is to live under a rock, don't talk with anyone, and definitely don't watch TV! (or MacrossWorld for that matter.) I have no foresight as to how the mods will reply, but I do find the comments about being ##% downloaded and when's the file going to be up for DLing to be annoying. All of this said, the best thing to do, if you just want an update to the availability for DLing, then check only the very first post in this topic.
  17. Ah... but you are forgetting that this is supposed to be a "school story". Where's the school if they are all stuck in a warship parsecs away?
  18. Unless if they include extras (like previews for coming attractions, special features, etc.). It's not common with the Macross anime DVDs that I've purchased, but there is a possibility of it.
  19. Ah... but this now is a difference between English and Japanese. In English, to emphasize something, we tend to say it louder or with longer vowels. (Go vs. GOOOOOOOOOOO!) In Japanese, in a lot of cases, the words used are different. (ikimasu - ikuze) In this scene, Sheryl's also constrained by the fact that their's a camera focused on her face, and a microphone near her mouth. Anything said louder than a whisper and requiring any major changes to her expression are going to be shown to the audience.
  20. I fully agree on your points that the translation isn't in plain English. I'm also going to change my stance from fully "beggars can't be choosers" to "paying (or receiving payment) for a translation brings accountability into the equation. Not paying removes accountability entirely." Some paid translations are terrible, but at least the person who paid for them can ask for a refund, thus forcing the translator to be more accurate.
  21. Change the Gilliam to romanized Japanese: Giriamu. (Aka Gi-ri-am)
  22. I thought the scene with the car on the highway was all Fokker from SDF:M!
  23. The SDF:M does NOT get smoked at the end of VF-X2. The Battle 13 does. There's only one "complication" with including M DM: VF-X with the chronology - at the end of it (the first game) there is a Zentraedi "main fleet" style attack on Earth... (not that this hasn't happened before in the anime or other versions of Macross anime...)
