  1. To be honest, I felt the action parts of this episode were ho-hum, nothing special. The character growth and development, on the other hand, was awesome. I really like how Ranka grew up in this episode and realized . Hopefully we'll see more of that in the coming episodes. Also, in the preview for next week, was that a VF-171 with a ? It also looks like the animators finally remembered the Vajra anti-missile defense from episode 1.
  2. As someone else has already said, the SDF:M version will be released later. As it is, the sideview silhouette of the SDF:M SDF-1 is used in the Space Destroyer (Oberth) sheet. I also won't be surprised if we see additional sheets on the interior of the DYRL SDF-1, as well as the DYRL ARMDs. Not to mention the same for the SDF:M version. Notice those little A's and B's in the upper right corner? ... Macross Chronicles is not something designed to go easy on the Macross fan's pocketbook. All 4 of Macross F's singles in the top 5? That rocks. I haven't heard any of the songs on regular airplay at the restuarants that I frequent (though, they tend to have more mainstream mindless pop jingles.) But I have heard at least one MF song used in a stereo speaker shop...
  3. I take it none of you have heard of an internet search? "Starship size comparision" results in http://www.merzo.net/ For the SDF:M and MII ships, go to -10x. -100x and -2000x also has the bigger Zentraedi ships. IE users should be able to click and drag the ships around to get more direct comparisons as well.
  4. I don't believe it has. Though I think it is similar to that used by the galactic whales in Dynamite 7.
  5. You mean Goro's Bar? That show probably has higher ratings than Macross F. Consider that Goro is a member of SMAP. The regulars are popular entertainers, the guests are popular entertainers, and it broadcasts earlier. Not to mention that it's broadcast on TBS and MBS on the same night (1 hour earlier for the former). Not to mention that the show has been on since October of 2004... Now, if that show had some way of bridging it's demographic into that of Macross's...
  6. Maybe the lack of it is their way of saying that there's more?
  7. It's big, but already mine is a good quarter full (I've been putting in everything, the main sheets, and all the ads/special offers/etc. at the tail end that come with it.
  8. Macross F Galaxy Tour Final (concert) holding decision Oct. 13 (holiday) @ Yokohama Pashifiko, Oct. 22 (wed) @ Osaka Welfare Annuity Hall Please see details in next week's broadcast.
  9. Oh... forgot to add this: on the cover, in the ad for the binder, it says what I believe is "10 issues fit into one binder". Someone mentioned that they are planning for a print run of 50... so 5 binders. This isn't going to just be expensive for you overseas members!
  10. Quickie review (or how to justify buying Chronicles #3 when you have a bunch of Macross Books on the shelf): Note: this is all ignoring the Japanese text, which may or may not be the same as in the books mentioned.) ((Though, the first half of the "soldiers of the anti-unification alliance sheet is, well, if you've seen Macross 0 and know Macross history, it's nothing new. If it's your first experience with one or both, then it's all new info.) Space Destroyer (Oberth) (front & Back) = see Perfect Memory (though, the size/quantity comparison is funky) VF-5000 (front & back) = Shoji Kawamori's Macross Design Works Kate & Morgan Maison (front & back) = TIA:M+ movie addition Basara Nekkei (front & back x2) = TIA: M7 Animation Materials (though, there is one space suit lineart which I don't remember having seen before) Ranka Rii (front & back) = all new (though one illo is from one of the CD singles) Timeline (Octos sub mode, VF-0S battroid, sv-51 fighter) = M0 DVD liner notes Lynn Minmei Debut (front) = new image. Curly Orange haired Kent Fraiya. Talk about retro flashback. (Back) = TIA:SDFM (上、中、下) Destroid Tech Sheet (front) = new kick a$$ illo. Woot! Woot! (back) = Macross Perfect Memory SDF:M gallery sheets (front & back) = TIA:SDFM (上、中、下) (I think that's where I've seen them before.) Fire Bomber music lyrics (front & back) = both lyrics and music sheets in Fire Bomber in M7 (music sheets NOT in chronicles!) Hasegawa Plastic Models (front & back, x2) = half are new releases, half are old. If you buy the kits, you'll have more than the photos in chronicles.
  11. Talk about overkill. Do the writers not think us viewers are too intelligent to figure things out with less than impossible odds? Nice use of Diamond Crevace at the end. Thumbs up for giving all the major and minor characters time in front of the camera, and stuff to do. The episode is one of the better ones just for that. Lots of stuff happened in it, despite the focusing on the one or two events that my fellow posters appear to be dwelling on...
  12. If I understand it correctly, it's the same squadron in both games.
  13. Haven't spotted that. Nevertheless, it deserves a "o-ho-ho-ho. You've spotted another Macross Easter egg."
  14. Haven't seen the 2nd issue, have you? Though, it's more a question and answer format, on only one aspect of Macross.
  15. Doubtful, in that the 3DCG animation software used is different. At the very least, the models used in VF-X2 would have to be seriously "detailed up" Also, a bunch of the models, and possibly some of the animation used in the opening of VF-X2 were from the failed "Macross3DVFX" series (OVA? Movie?) You can catch the pilot film for that on the 20th Anniversary DVD.
  16. Surprise, surprise, FujiTV has an English version of the Homeroom on the Beachside's homepage! http://www.fujitv.co.jp/en/programinfo/index.html#
  17. True, true. Rookies, is that bishonen, wannabe baseball player, troubled youth type drama. http://www.tbs.co.jp/rookies08/ Homeroom on the beachside looks like your typical highschool drama. http://wwwz.fujitv.co.jp/sun-ocean/index.html Which makes Macross F's performance, by these ratings, quite impressive. Screw Code flock of Geese, MF's beating out popular live-action shows!
  18. As I already mentioned: The VF-11, on the other hand, would involve a bunch of additional man-hours to make, and it would definitely get more airtime. I'll add this: aside from the YF-19 and YF-21, all of the VFs in it have made an appearance in Macross F (VF-1, VB-6, VF-171, VF-25 varients).
  19. uma = うま = 馬 Horse. As in, she's asking, "what? No horse?" (There're bird chickens. Hippo Cows, etc.).
  20. Nah. They did it cause it looks cool.
  21. As I said, check the law, check the age of the characters involved, and if it bothers you STOP watching it.
  22. They didn't flip it... or it's Arabic! (runs away and hides)
  23. "射手座★午後九時Don't be late" = "Sagittarius ★ 9 PM Don't be Late" There's been a connection between Sheryl and Sagittarius since the beginning. Her star sign perhaps?
  24. Please. Check your biases, cultural misconceptions and preconceptions at the door. We are fans of a Japanese anime, produced for people in Japan. Do your research first before making gross assumptions about character's ages. Not to mention that any age mentioned is completely arbitrary. They are all ficticious 2D images.
