Thank you for taking the time to exactly restate my point using common Macross knowledge .

Well, I DID say that it doesn't sound very colloquial Just so everyone is on board, I'm not disputing Gubaba's translation. A translation is more than just a literal "this word = that word" process. Just pointing out the literal translation of a single term in the translation. Anyhow, diva is γγ£γΌγ.

Are Macross fans as self-hating as Star Wars fans?

Hee, hee, hee. I actually forgot about Macross Plus Game Edition. Yes, have all four. It's a shame I forgot the M+ game, as it's the most fun - especially because of the player vs. player mode. -
songstress - http://linear.mv.com/cgi-bin/j-e/sjis/dict Female professional singer - http://honyaku.nifty.com/ I'd go with Jeffrey's, but it doesn't sound very colloquial.

Ah, but then it wouldn't be the repopulation of the human race, but the replacement of it with the Zentraadi race. I'm not saying that the Zentraadi didn't procreate - there is at least one known Zentraadi Super Long Range Emigration Fleet, and plenty spread out through the ships and colonies that we've seen in the post SDF:M/DYRL animations. There's equal likelihood that Zentraadi and humans procreated. However, the mass cloning was undertaken to restore humanity. Therefore, 100% Zentraadi or mixed Zentraadi/human offspring wouldn't meet the mandatae of the mass cloning project.

Are Macross fans as self-hating as Star Wars fans?

I tend to play them until I beat them, or get bored of them. But I do get obsessed about them while playing. So, the trick is to not get obsessed about games, in general, and limit yourself to one or two titles every 2 years or thereabouts. - I guess I was lucky, as I was able to get a PS1, and the 3 Macross games released for it, all from used shops, during the run-up to the release of the PS3. It's starting to become nigh impossible to find any PS1 stuff in any "conveniently" located store anymore. I'm trying to convince the wife to get a PS3, so that I can get the PS2 Macross game AND a BD player. But, she's quite resistant, and is insisting on a standalone player "when the price comes down". So, it looks like no more Macross games for me. Anyhow, you can get the gist of the game, the mecha lineart and game-stats, as well as an overview of the story in the VF-X2 Special Visual Guide. It's recommended. -
Just think - many people were cloned to adulthood. They were then encouraged to continue making babies the old fashioned way. The result - a population explosion! So - is the question of clones going at it unacceptable for you?

Let's also not forget that too much of a good thing is a bad thing. We don't want Macross to become ingrown and festered like Gundam. Also... VF-X wasn't very good (lot's of "fly to next destination" to pad the missions.) BUT VF-X2 is the sex! Sure, it's dated (10+ years old), but the game play is quite decent, and the story of the game is very interesting - not least of which is that the player gets to choose the outcome of the events. -

I think there's also the question of the nature of the "improvements" when things are made, or remade in live-action movie format. Sure, capturing the energy of the original is important, but what's most important is a good story, good characters, and especially some challenging probing of the issues behind whatever it is. I'd like to give Terminator 2 as a good example, but as it's comics are based off of it, and not vice-versus... so, that leaves me with "Hulk".* What I like most about that movie is the probing into the characters, the circumstances of their being. The action, of course, was what originally attracted me to that movie. But looking back at it, it's the characters and the probing of things in The Hulk mythos in general, which makes me want to see that movie again. I doubt that any of those movies that Azrael mentioned do the same thing. Therefore, they have all the appearances of being another in the long line of drole films for the Friday night crowd. Will WB do the same for the LAM? If they're basing the choice of doing it on the success or failure of other "remakes", then we can pretty much assume what type of movie it's going to be - one that's not going to come of much, and if lucky, break even. *No, haven't seen Transformers. Will only watch it if it shows up on TV. -
See links under "Translation Tools": http://www.macrossroleplay.org/Sketchley/portal.htm http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en also works.

"Damn! I hate the common cold!" "That's it... stop cloning!" Did you, by chance, want to say, "get sick from the same diseases"? Anyhow, it's all on the Macross Compendium. It's been there for years. Close to a decade: http://macross.anime.net/story/chronology/2010/index.html http://macross.anime.net/story/chronology/2013/index.html As for cloning per se, see: http://www.macrossroleplay.org/forums/index.php?topic=2017.0 for an idea of what that entailed; in regards to the Humanity Seeding Plan.

Special forces in the Macross universe

Capitalization has nothing to do with grammar. This is a perfect example of why it's important: Good quality japan comes from Japan. -
Because there are some English speaking fans that need what Gubaba is doing to get the point. A short, paraphrased e-mail message won't cut it for them, and we'd be back to square one with them.

LOL! The clip only serves to remind me of one thing - how mismatched the music is. Hey... what happened to the sparks coming off of the knives part of the scene??? -
Is Anime insulting your intelligence?

As the question is quite broad, there's no one, simple answer. Here's a start for the reading that needs to be done, and it should guide you to sources that can provide fuller answers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_war_...Debate_in_Japan -

Hi. Live in Japan. Have lived in Japan for more than a reasonable period of time. Am more than well aware of the history textbook revisions. You are misunderstanding something about Japan. They are ashamed of it. The people are not rewriting it, but mostly brushing it under the carpet and trying their best to forget about it. We're not talking about an editorial bias on things. We're talking about bare footnotes in history textbooks. Now, given your comments, you're most likely someone who is from one of the countries that suffered Japanese aggression during that time period, and/or are talking about a different movie. Grave of the Fireflies is many things, including the portrayl of the harshness of war sans politics, but it is not a rewriting of history. As someone who is proving themselves to be anti-Japan, shouldn't you be encouraging anything that reminds people of history, and informs the youth of the past? And regarding American movies... can you honestly say that Pearl Harbour isn't Imperial America apologist historical revisionism? Not all "historical" movies from the USA are as high and mighty as your trying to make them out to be. Anyhow, this is all tangental to the topic of this post - the topic starter wanted something different from the standard mecha fare. Is Grave of the Fireflies not different from the standard mecha fare? -

? Only Minmei and Ranka have been pop. Sound Force was decidedly rock. Sharon Apple and Sheryl Nome are dance/techno/unameit. Sara Nome & the Birdman were opera. Or, is the complaint more that the lyrics are mostly in Japanese (with the occasional English, French and Zentraadi), and the musical choice doesn't reflect your personal choice? -

So, I guess you're the type of person who sees "Das Boot" as a Nazi apologist propaganda film? Giant biomechanical robot possessing god like powers in a post-destruction of the world scenario facing biological opponents? The manga has a great secret society that's not only out to rule the world, but remake it, using their own mutated simple-minded bio-warriors. There's also the purification of humanity/the world, and a giant, super powerful computer. I'm sure I'm missing a whole bunch, but basically the only new thing that Evangalion added is the psychology aspects of the series. -
clone. 0 years. Before this post is dismissed as a one-liner gone bad, keep in mind that Macross Chronicle has pretty much stated that the most talented survivors of SWI were cloned to crew the first dozen or so Megaroad Emigration Fleets.

This latest rendition looks quite good (modeling wise, that is). Of course, having a dynamic pose, and adding the square shaped weapon as contrast for the curves helps. I was going to ask if this was intended to be put in a cockpit - so as to remind you to minimize the work and focus on the parts that are going to be seen - but as it looks like you intend to use it seperate and outside of a mecha, ignore this rather lengthy sentence.
