The computer and electronics super geek thread
Chewie replied to azrael's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Printing could be an issue depending on what printer you have. Bluetooth and e-print are pretty much the primary ways to print off of phones easily. I honestly can't think of any issues I've ran into other than the forced mobile versions. I use my Incredible for a lot of my banking and credit cards and can log into all of those sites without an issue. I use those as an example since security for a lot of those sites can be picky. -

OOOOH. I gotcha. I thought you meant use your phone as a connection device for your computer. Anything with 2.2/3 Android OS is really nice and supports flash. I have an HTC Incredible and really enjoy it. The only issues I run into are some websites force a mobile version even though the phone can handle the real version. This mainly effects me on youtube. I can't view some stuff there because I've been forced into the mobile version of the site. Otherwise, everything else works pretty nicely. I hear flashing it can fix this problem but am too much of a chicken to test it. Then there is the iPhone. It is an awesome phone too, but doesn't support flash which I've found is a pain in the ass sometimes. Data speeds are generally really good. Streaming hd video on youtube is never an issue running on the regular 3G Verizon network with my Incredible. Also, if you wait another month or so, the new dual core phones are supposed to start hitting the market and are poised to smoke everything currently out. Not to mention Androids 2.5/6 OS hiding in the rafters which are both supposed to be amazing. -

You're looking at $15/25/30 a month for a data plan you MUST have on most phones that will tether. Then you need to add the $20-30 plan for tethering itself. You might want to look into getting a mobile broadband card from Verizon or Att. They're $35 a month with a 3GB up/down soft cap, and $10 a gig after that. If all you use it for is what you say, you'd have a hard time using it all up. Sprint has one too that is $60 a month with unlimited, BUT the unlimited part only works in "4g" areas. Otherwise it's a 5GB soft cap. From what I've been told there are ways for using your data plan for tethering with jailbreaking(iphone)/flashing(android) but if your phone company finds out they'll nail you to the wall for it. -

Haven't you learned this isn't allowed? -
I don't see why they just don't use the 12V rechargeable batteries used in most off the shelf RC cars. That would eliminate the need for all the extra space for the C or D batteries, not to mention it would reduce a LOT of waste.

I still don't know where comments like this come from. The other two movies were incredibly popular in theaters and on disc. For every purist or collector out there, there are 10, 100, 1,000 people who actually enjoy the movies and will enjoy the third one. -

I like how it's going on 3 years and 2 movies and it still seems it hasn't sunk in that the overall designs aren't changing. Transformers: Man. These designs suck. The toys are crap, wtf kill Bay. 4 months later: Well, this design isn't so bad, and it's a pretty solid toy but still, kill Bay. ROTF: Man. These designs STILL suck. The toys are crap, except for that one repaint, wtf kill Bay. 4 months later: Well, this design isn't bad either, and it's a pretty solid toy too, kill Bay anyway. DOTM: Well, I think you get the point. Haha. I love you guys sometimes. -
I dunno about the OnDemand date, but isn't it a little fishy it's theatrical release date is April 1st?
-
I also didn't know that one was battery operated. Haha. I should do more than just walk on by in the future.

I had no idea the shield was just another one of their clip additions. The overall design of that thing is awesome. I'm picking one up tomorrow!

I've got a Vulcan and it jams quite often with or without modded belts. Modded belt being two belts I connected together to form a longer chain. It's not a spacing issue with the belt, it just seems that gravity is stronger than the feeding mechanism regardless of the belt. I currently own: DEPLOY CS-6 LONGSHOT CS-6 VULCAN EBF-25 LONGSTRIKE CS-6 This one is currently being modded and painted for me. I also have 4 MAVERICK. 3 of them are the newer yellow ones, and the 4th is a first release with the stronger spring. Does anyone have the Stampede? Is it any good? I saw them at Target but after getting the Vulcan was kind of weary. Right now one of the local Wal-Marts has/had 36 packs of the streamline darts for $3 a pack on clearance. Kinda strange this thread should pop up here, I was having a conversation with a buddy from work about Nerf guns not 4 hours ago. Lol

Got lucky and found Kevin and Rinzler's data discs at Target the other day. Have to say, some of the best nerd money ever spent.

My roommate walked in the other night while I was looking at this picture and said "WTF did they do to the F-22?!" I laughed then died a little inside.
-
That looks absolutely phenomenal. Great work.

I think more car companies need to take a page from Hyundai. The Equus comes with the owners manual on an iPad. -

If it says clearance, it's discontinued. Sale items are just deals of the week. I'd keep an eye on all external hard drives that aren't USB 3.0. They're all moving into the discontinued phase and BBY will rock bottom them to get rid of them. -
toysrus.com has 'em.

The new world they were in was designed and created by Flynn, Tron and CLU.
-
Flynn designed the world. He was from a world that had or used such things. It's not even remotely a stretch to have these things in a world created and imagined by a human.
