  1. Been working on some wave 1/100 kits lately. Finished a battroid, while a 2nd battroid and fighter are becoming a gerwalk.
  2. Thanks for the support! I'll be keeping my eye open on both ebay and craigslist.
  3. Long time lurker here, and apologies in advance for posting this. My place was broken into last night- most of what was taken was my wife's jewelry that I want to get back, but the only other things taken were a couple of small built/painted Macross models I had put together. If anyone sees these in L.A., please let me know. Luckily for me, only the small stuff was taken, and the 7 & Delta stiff was all left behind. Unfortunately I do not have any pictures of what was taken (although I'm taking pictures of what was left today) What was taken (all built with seams removed and painted. No weathering done to any of them) 1/200 Nichimo VF-1S fighter, VF-1J fighter (Hikaru), VF-1A Gerwalk (brownie) 1/144 TomyTec VF-1S Gerwalk - I was displaying this as gerwalk mode - still have a box with the leftover fighter/battloid parts 1/100 Wave VF-1S Super Battloid. The Super Fighter right next to it was left behind. I've attached pics below of the fighter kit below for comparison since I built them both at the same time with the same paints and style. I know that this list is small, but what I'm really looking for is a line on the stolen jewelry. Thanks for your time. Phil Wave Super Fighter pics:
  4. I've built the VF-1S and love it. I built it 10-15 years ago and it still transforms without problems. The only area of the kit that gave me headaches was the landing gear - I ended up gluing them shut as they were very fiddly.
  5. Still not done, but decided to post a picture anyway. Drilled multiple holes with multiple size drill bits.
  6. I cut out the center of the Elysion antenna. Drilled a small hole in the center first, then a bigger hole with a bigger bit, and then used a Xacto to scrape out the rest. I'm not done with the model yet - I'll post a pic when I'm done.
  7. No. Nobody has ever completed one. Is there another question coming?
  8. If you're looking for a Yamato replacement because you want some sort of toy to play with...then the Hasegawa is the wrong choice. This is a model that won't stand up to a lot of playing.
  9. I'll admit to being old & jaded as well...and I prefer many of the old classics to the crap being produced now. However, I'm really enjoying the current releases of Planetes and Area 88.
  10. Here are some of my better Macross cels. The VF-1S/VF-1D cel has a mismatched background.

    New monster

It's the Monster Mk I. Appeared in last episode of Macross Zero.
  12. I lost some parts from my 1/60 Max TV when moving. The parts are L-A4 and R-A4 (The soft plastic forearm parts that cover where the gunpod is attached in fighter mode). I'd appreciate help in finding replacements. Thanks.
  13. You want to buy some of the old Dragon 1/144 modern aircraft kits - they all have pilots, some better than others, and you can use the ordinance as well. The Harrier kits have a nice external loadout. Do an ebay search for "Dragon 1/144", and look for the modern Jet kits. In some kits, the pilot is little more than a shapeless blob, but the F-117 kits have a full pilot - which is what I would recommend.
  14. As a gerwalk fan, I like the transformable 1/72 Bandai VF-1S. Once again, it's time for me to post a picture of mine. Battloid is OK, and fighter is fairly poor (if you want these, go buy the Hasegawa kit).
  15. Dougram's not availible easily. I would vote for Dunbine. It's old but long (49 episodes) and ADV is realasing it now. Most of the DVDs can be found for cheap on ebay as it doesn't seem to popular. It also has a fair bit of magic in it.
  16. I would also vote for the Macross 7 kits (Just look at my avatar!). The Hasegawa kits are well made, but are just waiting to be butchered by beginners with all the gluing and decaling required. The M7 kits (particularly the 1/144 kits) havea very simple construction and fit together nicely. The Hasegawa kits have a mutlitude of tiny parts just waiting to be lost or glued on incorrectly. The old Nichimo/Testors kits have poor fitting parts and you end up needing to fill a number of gaps.

    SDF-1 Kits

I always liked the 1/5000 cruiser kit (not a big fan of attack version in this scale). I built one a long time ago (80's) and no longer have it. The command area needs a bit of work, but it's not a bad kit and has quite a bit of surface detail. Both 1/8000 kits are ugly. The Nichimo's are pretty good as well.
  18. Thanks! I drag my pics out from time to time when I see threads that appropriate
  19. The head lasers of the VF-1S are a plastic-on-plastic joint. They will get floppy over time with use - I periodically coat the pins with a coat of superglue for stiffness. The only placeswhere I seem to get paint chips when I transform from Battloid to Gerwalk are the metal connectors that connect the front and back chest panel pieces in battloid mode, and on the tail stabilizer joints. Posability isn't close to a HG gundam - it's about equivalent to an old Zeta or ZZ series kit.
  20. I love my Bandai VF-1S 1/72 transformable kit. Just don't think of it as a toy - leave it one most of the time as otherwise you end up wit lots of chipped paint. Fighter mode is poor compared to Hasegawa, but I love Gerwalk. The panel lines are deeper than on Hasegawa kits, making them easier to do as well. If I had this kit to do over again (or if I build another one) I would putty over the black "circles" (I don't know what to call them) and use Hasegawa decals for them instead.
  21. In addition, the Bandai kit has some replacable parts. You should take a look at the Yamato YF-19 toy to see how a perfect transformation should work.
  22. Nope, no mods on my monster except for the decals. I was just glad to get the kit done.
  23. Here's a picture of my VF-11, VF-17 and VF-19 Fire Valk (combined with a Tect VF-19 F/S resin Gerwalk conversion kit).
  24. The VF-17 kit comes with heads/stickers for both the A and S versions. There is no 1/144 VF-19 aside from the Fire Valk. However, Tect makes resin conversion kits to convert a Fire Valk into a VF-19 F/S. These are extremely rare, however although you will see them popup on ebay and the message boards here (blackaces seems to get them every so often).
  25. One more pic, with a 1/144 VF-19 Kai added for scale.
