1. Mr. March those are the right charcaters for Yoko Kanno's name. "Ko" is a suffix for a girls name that means child. as for the "Kan" part in her last name, I don't know what that Kanji means but the 'no" part of it means "field"
2. Damn, I didn't know that Radd. I just assumed that maybe Hajime Yadate was just inspired by the 90's Batman show and decided to make the characters and setting all drawn western the same way the charcters were in the show. But I already new that the story of the show was diffErent from the one the AoB.
3. As for my 2 cents on this show, it was strictly decent for an anime rip-off of Batman. When I first saw this show 5 years ago on CN, the first thing that went through my mind was that this reminds me of that 90's Batman cartoon because of it's dark setting and 1950''s like setting. I really like the Intro song as I have it on my computer. I haven't seen the second season of the show because I lost interest in watching the show since it tends to be boring at times with nothing but philisophical bull schist and yawning dialogue.
4. Oh no, that's not good. Everybody knows that live action movie adaptations of cartoons suck and it's acomplete waste of money. I'd rather go but-naked bunjee jumping off of the MTV building with a candle sticking out my but than see this monstrocity to the anime franchise.
5. It's good that I know more about the Pheonix missle thanx to you guy's answers. I honestly assumed that Pheonix missles were variable range A2A missles that can be used against airborne targets at short, medium, and long distances. I also honeslty assumed that the Pheonix was a "super missle" that was the best and ideal for most A2A engagements when it's not needed for dogfighting and only for just taking out targets a long distances. I guess that epitomizes why I don't see the Pheonix missle in most modern console flight sims and only see the F-14's in the games use Sidewinders and Sparrows. ( I have Air Force Delta, Air Force Delta Storm, and Top Gun Combat Zones for my GC.) Also, can a Pheonix missle be launcehd while the F-14 is traveling high speed with it's wing swept back in? I noticed that I see pics of the F-14 launching them while traveling at low speeds with their wings swept out to their maximum extension.
6. Yeah, I really should do what you recommneded Seto and I guess that really would prevent other users for lashing out at me for pointless #$$^ like this thread. Like I said, I was just curious if wasn't that much trouble to you. Also, no disrespect Seto, but this thread wasn't a matter of it being about small things like you said. I thought about it some more and I have to prove you wrong by telling you that it's not like I made any threads about small things in regards to changes to VF's like changing the cockpit, changing the wing designs, or other etc of your favorite VF. After all, it made more sense to me to just start a thread where people can just put all of their desired changes into rather than making small therads for small things just as the same way where White Drew Carey started a master paint scheme thread for all VF's rather than just starting individual paint scheme threads for every single VF.
7. I don't know what would make an F-14 look goofy if it had one seat in it, but is it because of the shape of the canopy or where the seat would be positioned that would make it look odd? Because when I look at an F-14 from the side, it would look rather goofy, but I think that the canopy of the F-14 would be redesigned to look normal having one seat in it IMHO. Also, I heard that after several variants, the long-range concept ultimately evolved, providing Phoenix the capability to initially guide itself using the semi-active radar mode and the Tomcat’s AWG-9 weapon control system, and when close enough to its target, assume guidance control using the active radar system. In addition to this, I know that the Pheonix missle was designed for destroying airborne targets at long distances, but is it possible to "blind fire" a Pheonix to hit a ground target or what?
8. How bout' this question: Did Grumman ever had plans to make the F-14 a single seater or what? I really wish that they did because going back to the previous thread, I asked Knight26 whether or not it was possible to fly an F-14 with one pilot up front with noone in the back. I just thought that I point that out again because I never understood the reason why they never made a single seater variant of the F-14 in its nearly 36 year history. Is it because it's Pheonix missle system is so complex and intricate that another pilot is required to manage it or what?
9. Oh wait, now that I think about it some, you're right Knight26, it does sound rather pointless. I just assumed that somebody may show a little interest in the topic. I already know for sure this is gonna be topic locker or a no-replier, so I guess that I've just wasted my time and forum space with this one.
10. I started this topic because I was curious to know whether or not the idea of making big or little changes to your favorite VF's have ever crossed your mind. As for me, I really wouldn't make significant changes to my favorite valk, the VF-2SS except maybe thickening it's armor a liitle and lengthening out some more. (It's a little to short IMHO). So is there anybody that might have wanted to make small changes to your VF's as well?
11. So I take it that an S-3 Viking and an E-2C Hawkeye can't fly with it's wings up as well Dave? IMHO I think an E-2C can't do it because of it's weight and due to the fact it's a propellor based aircraft, the folded wings would cause parasitic drag resistance and in sufficeint air flow and lifting power caused by the wings not being folded out to it's default position.
12. Now, as we all know that despite the fact that M2 is considered to be the oddball of the Macross Canon continuity due to obvious reasons I won't state, they're some aspects of it that made it stand out from the rest of SK's series like the mecha designs and it's different historical path that Seto points out. However,1/1 LV Lurker made a good point about how the use of music was expanding the idea that SK had used in Macross where in M7, the use of music to convey emotion rather than to distract was ideal to the defeat of the Varauta, but wasn't there emotion in M2 where Ishtar and her sisterhood of singing emulators sang together to overpower Ingus' forces as well? In the end,I would like to point out once again that the two things that made M2 stand out from the other series is that the mecha designs were radical and updates of original VF's (the VF-2SS and VF-2J) and that it wasn't unoffcially part of the original timeline that took a different path down history in an alternate universe.
13. Sorry, but that was the only good shot of the fighter I could find over the internet.
14. You know what I think, I really think that James Cameron, really needs to remove that rededundant plot about how some humans want the aliens for their own evil intentions and come up with something fresh. I like 1/1 LLV's idea for a three way showdown between the three forces and the way how they should make it bout war and not about horror but it's too bad that they didn't do it that way with first. However, going back to movie sequels, I already know off the bat the second movie is gonnas suck balls due to fact that they seemingly rushed in to making a sequel which greatly epitomizes why some sci-fi and action/adventure movies don't do so good in movie theatres because of that. If a movie that does good during it's opening weekend that racks in millions of dollars in ticket sales, then it deserves a sequel, but not one that comes out one year immediately after the first because it would suck as a result of ther producers rushing to get it down. The best example I can use is the Matrix. It did so good that people demanded a sequel to it that came out four years after the first and the sequel did very good as well. You see, by taking the time to come up something fresh and original and not rushing into things, you can make sequels to movies better than the original. But I wished that they incorporated much of the content from the original Aliens and Predator series like what they did in the Arcade game by Capcom where they used the APC's, the Dropships, Powerloaders, the Marines, Dutch Schaefer as a cyborg and etc. to better tie both movie franchises in to one.
15. Well now that I read your post Honneamise, I just had to clarify that I saw this strange resembleance of the VF-1's nose to the F-18 just from looking at that pic of the VF-1 Blue Angel pic Redsun1 posted ONLY. Not from looking at the toys or models or screenshots from the anime series.
16. UHm....not sure since its been a while. An F-14G Hellcat II did make an appearance in Airforce Delta Storm for xbox though...not sure what that looks like. 394073 Shin, it looks like an F-14D of corse with it's glove vanes actually out and the aircraft is dark grey. That was my one of my favorite fighter's in the game (I have it for my X-BOX). Of course, that's not a real variant of the F-14 even though I wish it was. In addition to that they had a fighter called the "Jerry Mouse" from Konami's old school game "AJAX". That aircraft looks like a modified F-14.
17. Quickly making one last quick reference to the Tomcat 21, I was so stupid to realize that I've actually seen it before; not in real life of course but in a video game. Have any of you guys played Air Force Delta for the Dreamcast? I still have mine since Christmas of 99' and I remembered when I first selected the F-14D and saw it from the chase view, I noticed that there was something a little different about, and it was the main body/glove vain area in which appeared to be slightly stretched out of proportion. When I saw this, I honestly assumed that the 3D aircraft modelers of the game had made a slight error in modeling the main body/ glove vane area but it turns out that that was the way the Tomcat 21 was like in real life. The point is that I now know that the Tomcat was originally intended to be the F-14D but the creators of the game hypothetically made the Tomcat 21 the F-14D despite the fact Grumman canceled that concept and stuck to using an F-14B(F-14A+) and upgrading it's avionics and keeping those engines.
18. I fyou ask me, I really think that they should've waited several more years to release a sequel by using all that time to think of a fresh and captivating plot to make this sequel worth watching. I agree that they should really not put any humans in the movie and just let it focus on the predators and the aliens going at it. They should call AVP2 Reloaded or AVP Revolution if they plan on doing a sequel. Hell, I'd rather face a room full of pitbulls with some porkchops strapped to my droz than see this piece of crap for a sequel. Even better, they should make Riply go up aginst the aliens from DOOM!
19. I assume that the SU-33 can do it as well since it's ailerons are inwards to main body and not on the folded area of the wing flaps. I've never seen a picture of it in that configuration.
20. In regards to the F-4 having the ability to fold their wings up, is it possible to fly a fighter in that configuration?
21. No disprespect to you F360, but where you looking at it from the side only like I recommended to everyone else? 393148 no, of course not. If I judge only by the 1 prespective then everything could look similar. I look at the overall pic or nothing at all, because a VF-1 is a whole VF-1 and not just a flat onesided shape of a VF-1. And even at the side only I still don't really see it. I guess if I focus really hard some of the parts will look like from F-18, but If I focus really hard, I can probably find it similar to other Fighters too.. You are not wrong in anyway,, but I just happen to sees things differently. The only fighter that I consider to look closest to a F-18 is the SV-51 even though it was base on something else. 393170 You;re right about the SV-51 resembling the F-18 even though it looks like something else. I noticed that too when I looked at that pic Evirus posted in my other topic. It's OK that you see it differently but the main reason why I also started this topic is to make sure that I'm not crazy and seeing things when I say that the VF-1 looks like the F-18 from the side.
22. No disprespect to you F360, but where you looking at it from the side only like I recommended to everyone else?
23. Quick question Vinnie, Is the VF-4 Lightning your favorite VF?
24. If you ask me and when I think about it some, I really notice more the F-18 out of the VF-1 based from the nose and canopy area and it's good that a few of you are beginning to notice the resemblance between the sides of the fighter based on what I stated in my topic starting paragraph. I was expecting that everyone else like Seto would notice it through thorough observation of the outside shape only. So now my hypothesis suddenly becomes that the VF-1 resembles the F-18 from the nose and canopy area only, but I think I'm right about the F-18 possbily being SK's inspiration for partially integrating it's nose and canopy and what I forgot to add, it's fuselage in the side design of the VF-1
25. Were you talking about the Sjinden Kai or Shinden J7 plane? I was actually talking about the J7 but to add to the Shinden J7 plane, this plane came close to being mass produced to counter all of the Allied forces fighters but by that time, it was too late since the war ended after the A-Bomb was dropped. Also, the "Oscar" plane had an improved engine for faster speed.
