  1. If we're talking the 240mm (24cm) being measured from head to feet for the Macross, then yeah it probably is comparable to the 1/48 VF-1's. But if the 240mm measurement is from the top of the big guns to the feet (with the guns in the position they're in in these pictures), I'm guessing it would look "smaller" than the various Valks that recon mentioned.
  2. So a little over US$130 (before taxes and shipping). So does the 240mm mean from feet to head or from feet to the tips of the main guns? Personally, I'd still like to see the Macross in a scale that makes it slightly (but noticeably) larger and bigger than the 1/48 Valks. Gotta make the namesake of the series stand out in the display!

    What if we're going about this the wrong way? What if the "2007_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _!" really means that Yamato will be breaking out 21 SEPARATE releases/re-issues in 2007?! Imagine a 2007 with: 1. Fold Booster and Fast Packs for YF-19 2. 1/60 YF-21(with Fast Packs) 3. 1/60 VF-11 (with Fast Packs) 4. 1/48 VF-4 5. 1/60 SV-51 6. Large-scale SDF-1 (TV-style) 7. Large-scale SDF-1 (DYRL-style) 8. 1/48 VF-1D Trainer 9. 1/48 Super Ostrich 10. 1/48 Elintseeker 11. 1/48 VF-1A Max (TV-style) (with Zentraedi clothes ala "Big Escape," complete with in-scale figures of Hik', Misa, and Kakizaki that fit in the front pocket!) 12. 1/48 VF-1A Kakizaki (TV-style) 13. 1/48 VF-1? Alaska Base colors 14. 1/48 Super VF-1J Max re-issue 15. 1/48 Super VF-1J Milia re-issue 16. 1/48 Fast Packs (TV-style) with Navy/Dark Blue or Gray colors 17. 1/60 or 1/48 Regult (with articulated figure) 18. 1/60 or 1/48 Glaug (with articulated figure) 19. 1/60 or 1/48 VARIABLE Glaug 20. 1/60 Q-Rau Purple (DYRL-style) 21. 1/60 Q-Rau Green (TV-style) (complete with a Milia figure with a "superfelous" booty....just for Vostok 7 ) 21a. Shrinking wallet (with pefect transformation) ..........Okay, the doctors said it's time for me to take the medication again! The sad part is I'm sure I could probably come up with even more release ideas (both the crazy and somewhat plausible variety).
  4. I haven't bought any stands myself, but I'm sure someone else will mention these sooner or later..... One word: Flexidisplays. Review Linky I believe Los from Lost and Found Toys has them up for pre-order. Personally, I haven't bought a set yet, but I'm itching to eventually get a few.
  5. It's too bad IFC isn't re-airing Harakiri (not anime, but a great piece of Japanese cinema) with those animes like they did last Saturday.
  6. I had pretty much accepted the YF-19's straight-shoulder look (as in would have preferred the angled-shoulder look in Battroid, but it's not a deal-breaker). So when Yamato sneaks in this little "surprise," I got a little overzealous. (Plus, it was late and I hadn't had that much sleep........and...and I was young and I needed the money.....) But seriously, this was one of the features I had asked about in the first 2nd Coming thread. So hopefully, you can understand my enthusiasm for this newly leaked feature. And along with being more line art accurate, let's not forget: this thing is priced around $200. I think most of us would almost expect a few gimmicks and extra goodies to be added to the basic Valk. And before anyone else makes the argument, I also agree: at around $200, the YF-19 absolutely better be solid and sturdy in all three modes. I mean what's the point in having all that articulation if you can't get the puppy to pose and stay standing the way you want it to?
  7. Pics of the current set-ups for my rather humble Yamato collection: And lastly, one of my favorite pics of my custom-stickered Stealth:
  8. OMFG!!! Angled shoulders!! Thanks for the scans, Graham. If this is Yamato's own special way of messin' or screwin' around with its fans, then I really don't mind! Just think: we got two more months before the release. What other wad-blowing surprises does Yamato have in store for this bird?
  9. It ultimately comes down to how much you really want the Valk. When I first heard about the 1/48 GBP, I jumped at the first chance to preorder it. Sure, I learned later on about the fiasco that was the 1/60 version of the armor, and I later heard the warnings about the fragile plastic tabs in the chest armor. But none of that stuff really deterred my desire for the 1/48 GBP; I would have bought it irregardless. Now with the YF-19, at its current selling price, with the (apparently) minimal accessories, and the potential for QC issues, it goes from a "must have" to a "I can wait a little bit longer" item for me personally. But if the YF-19 is something you really, really want right now (like me with the GBP), who cares what us "wait and see" folks think? Sure, we'll benefit from your reviews, tips, and insights. But I'm sure me and others will return the favor when our personal "must have" items come out with their first production runs........[cough] YF-21 [cough] Beta/Tread, ahem, reasonably priced [cough].
  10. [in the voice of the Brain]: I did the same thing I do every night, EXO.............. I lurked. The Nexus and Monkey's forums was where I went to get my Macross fix during the "dark times."
  11. So, we know they're gonna sell the Fast Packs sometime next spring (or summer ). But do we know yet if they're gonna sell the Fast Packs separately? Or are they gonna sell it as a combo with the YF-19? Because if it's the second option, I could happily wait a little longer to get the whole kit and caboodle in one shot. But if it's the first option, I don't want to be a$$ed-out without the Valk'.
  12. Regarding dizman's set: Looks like Max is about to get clubbed like a baby seal. BTW, is that a Stealth with takatoys' stickers I see on the right?
  13. I've taken a bunch of Valk pics at night. And sometimes, my digital camera puts me in a "Damned if you do; Damned if you don't" situation. I can use the flash, but then the colors on the Valks (especially, the Stealth) get over-exposed. Or I could turn off the flash, and pray that the auto-focus gets it right and that the shutter-speed is fast enough where my hand doesn't move and blur the pic. The best technique I've been able to come up with that gets the Stealth to look the most "natural" during night-time shoots is to do the following: 1. Place the Stealth in a dark place or some place with very little light (the darker, the better). 2. Get a flashlight ready in one hand and your digital camera (with the flash feature ON) in the other. 3. Shine the flashlight on the Valk, and get the digital camera's auto-focus to "hit" on the lighted part. 4. Keep the auto-focus locked on. 5. Move the flashlight beam away from the Valk. 6. Take your shot. Here's a couple examples I've taken: P.S., in case you're wondering, that first pic was taken long before I ever added the custom stickers.
  14. I'm not exactly digging the designs and vehicle choices they're making here. But I'll wait until I see a full movie trailer, before I lower or raise my expectations too much. I mean if the story and characters are close enough to the spirit of their original G1 counterparts, then I can easily overlook any design or vehicle choices this movie makes.
  15. Wow! She is a gorgeous bird. I know this was discussed in detail way back in this thread.....But is there any chance Yamato will make the shoulder pads moveable so that you can angle the shoulders to have that V-shape in battroid mode? A minor nit. But thanks everyone for the pics of the prototype!
  16. Sweet! It looks like the blades are included on the Blowsuperior!!
  17. Good Lord!! Millia shagged Max to death!!
  18. Felt like bringing this thread back to the front page..... "I know what you're thinking: 'Did he fire six shots or only five?' Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself. But being as this is a triple-barrel GU-11 Gunpod, the most powerful gunpod for a Valk, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, PUNK?"
  19. Gotta admit: I like those kite stickers! The have an inverted/negative image effect that works well with the Stealth.

    M+ Valks

If I had to choose just one, it'd be the bastard, love-child of the Q-Rau and the Valkyrie fighters, the YF-21. .....especially if it's anything like the jaw-droppingly gorgeous D'Stance model.
  21. Like the title says, this is my first custom Yamato Valk. Just started with the Stealth, added some custom stickers from Devin (including some numerous color variations (Major thanks, Devin!)), and did a very minor repaint on the nukes. And before you ask, I'm too chickensheet to panel-like my valks........yet. Comments, suggestions, and constructive critiques always welcomed. Enjoy! P.S.--I didn't want to go overkill with the pictures. But I still have a few more "stylish" pics, if you guys would want me to post 'em.
  22. So, is HG gonna charge $17.99 (plus tax) for the bare-bones, non-anamophic, full-screen version? And $48.85(plus tax) for the super-duper deluxe, wide-screen, anamophic version with alternate audio commentary, an animation cel, and zero bonus/special features)?!! Sorry, couldn't resist.
  23. Is it just me, or does the youngling sorta look like Luke Skywalker? Cool pic though!
  24. Look at the screen name; it's pretty obvious which side I'd lean towards. But even I can see where the FF series, as a whole, can be found lacking. You look at a game like FF6 that had a massive list of playable characters (Many of which had fairly involved backstories), a great soundtrack, and an even more memorable villian (who actually SUCCEEDED in conquering the world). And when you compare it to the more recent entries of the series, you can see how the series has slipped a bit in recent years. And I'm not too much of an elitist to see that Zelda is damn good series in its own right. Though personally, I've always liked Zelda II more than A Link to the Past. (I've always thought that Link to the Past was just too easy of a game to beat.) (Never played Ocarina of Time either, so I'm not exactly the best person to judge the recent series of games). As for CT, THAT is arguably one of the best RPG's ever released. Boss battles that actually force you to use some strategy and thinkin'. A hell of a lot of replay value (to get all those various endings). And memorable characters with tag-team magic/attacking techniques!
  25. ......half the battle! <singing>: G.I. JOE!!!!!!
