  1. I agree, those things are soooooo Armored Core. An upside in my mind. Even the color schemes, although overly bright, look like the kinds of things possible in AC.
  2. Seems like a pretty good set of additions to the cast. The best thing about this news, to me, is that it's a good sign that Sci-Fi has no intention of ending the series any time soon.
  3. Has anyone heard anything about the episodes after 8? ANBU still hasn't released anything, have they not been released at all yet, or is translation just lagging?
  4. I haven't worked on any of my stuff in forever. Right now, I've got a Toyota Celsior / Lexus GS400 with one coat of paint on it sitting there, a Hase Battroid that's on its way to being Max's VF1A, an unfinished PG MkII. I've also got my custom Jet Core Booster that's been sitting around forever awaiting final detailling and paint. Aside from that, I've got a million half-assembled kits around, and many more unstarted ones.
  5. Ferrari 250 GTO. In my opinion, the most attractive car ever made. Who else is into euro-classic sports cars?
  6. Naruto has older fans? Graham Oh, man, you should see the "Narutards" we have here. Last Anime Expo, there was a Naruto gathering going on, must have been 200 cosplayers, and in excess of 1000 people taking pictures. (From three seperate floors, no less, and off the side of a staircase! Looked like what you'd get if Sora Aoi or somebody showed up at Comiket) Personally, I don't get that series. It was decent, but not enough to watch more than a couple episodes. As for Aquarion, I think I'll wait for subs. Knowing Kawamori, it'll be completely impossible to figure out with my level of Japanese.
  7. dont know, they allways change every movie... I think more of a classic would be Bonds gull wing speaking of which Delorean from Back to the Future They change in the new ones. I'm talking about the original Aston, the one that was in just about ever Connery Bond movie, and a lot more.
  8. I hate to say it, but I agree with the guy verdict. Look how big "she" is compared to all the people in the photos.
  9. What about Bond's DB5? Surely that has to be on the list.
  10. Is it subbed yet, or just raw? If subbed, by who?
  11. Because it's made by a bunch of Otaku. They probably put it on for the cool factor. Actually, looking at the video, it does lift its feet to move. It's just that it only lifts an inch or two.
  12. Did they change the name? I know it used to be called Joe's Shanghai a couple years back, and that's what my Zagat calls it. However, it has been a couple years....
  13. A lot of people "invented" drifting. Ryan Hampton, who drives in Formula Drift, is a good example. As an instructor at Bondurant, he got bored of driving the same car around the same track so much. So, for fun, he started sliding the car, until he was able to do the entire course. At some point, he had a student who had flown in from Japan. He started doing his sliding technique, and the student exclaimed that Ryan must have been a professional drifter. Ryan had never heard of drifting, and started investigating the sport, and eventually started running amateur events, then became pro. Similar stories are found all over the place.
  14. that's probably the only reason, 'cause it is fun. That's the absoulte truth behind why 90% of people do it, it's a helluva lot of fun. The competition aspect of it is a little stupid, but when you have anything like that, people will naturally want to have a competitive aspect, and, as there's no direct way to identify a winner, it has to be judged. However, people really don't realize how much technique and skill is involved in drifting. Sliding a car is one thing, doing it while maintaning a proper racing line, maximizing speed and angle, controlling slide length, and getting inches from another car while doing it, is a very difficult proposition. Just look at what happens in D1. Many front-running drivers are JGTC drivers, or even rally drivers, so they're not just some guys off the street, and they still spin and crash all the time. So, in my mind, the attraction of drifting, aside from the fun, is that it exhibits and develops extremely high-level car control skills. It's really worth it for any serious racer to do a little bit of drifting, just to improve control of the car and be able to lose minimal time in the event of a mistake or a problem with track conditions. Then, of course, there's the bastard child of Drift and Autocross, Gymkahana. Gymkahana is essientially a form of autocross, but the courses are laid out more openly, instead of the lanes with cones on either sides (although parts have those, too), and certain corners and sections are designed to be faster when the car is slid through them. These events are run for time, just like Autocross. Oh, and by the way, how can you think the 308/328 was ugly? IMO, it's one of the best looking Ferraris of all time. Besides, even if it's not the greatest car, it still is a Ferrari, and accomplishes the real goal of a Ferrari, picking up chicks.
  15. Haha, famous trick. Back onto the trays, yank the sidebrake, and go at it. Of course, never had reason to do such a stupid thing myself, I stick to FR.
  16. Honestly, I'm still using WMP10. I used Winamp for a long time, but recently WMP got good enough that there was no need to deal with winamp's frequent crashes. My computer locks up every 15 min or so when I try to use Winamp. (I even reformatted and reinstalled, still same problem) All I use it for now it to make playlists for my iRiver, because I can keep its medial library seperate and create lists with the right directories.
  17. Truth is, fixing would require totally pullling out the unibody and replacing a rear quarter panel, new doors, new fenders, new hood, new bumpers, new wheels, new suspension, and a paint job. And I'm completely broke. Selling off what's left of the car at least will get me enough to buy an S13 and start from the beginning again.
  18. Cardass refers to the card game, yes, but it's not the name of it. Cardass is the manufacturer / publisher. They also make the Gundam War card game, and others.
  19. My car is totalled. My wheel broke on the freeway somehow (lousy cast alloys). Sent the car out of control, it went into a bus lane and hit a steep curb, flew in the air, hit one wall, bounced into another, then skidded down the road. I'm really gonna miss her.
  20. Sony's gonna pay them off, it's the only real solution.
  21. Anno has very specifically stated that the religious symbols are only there to be mysterious and cool looking. There is no real deeper meaning behind them. However, they are pretty well researched, and a lot of things do add up when you go deep with them, but it's not meant to be taken totally seriously.
  22. Can't believe it hasn't been said.... No Arnold = No good.
  23. I agree, if it doesn't change the overall meaning of the lines, it's fine by me. Using a pronoun instead of a proper name or slightly mistranslating a word isn't a huge transgression, as long as the point gets through clear.
  24. Just watched the first two. Some innacuracies in ANBUs translation, but not bad ones at all, and mostly pertaining to clarifying cultural issues in terms that might not be perfectly clear if literally translated. Liking the series a lot, so far, though. A bit remeniscent of Gundam SEED, reminds me a lot of the Archangel's combat sequences. Character design, acting, writing, and direction seem pretty good, though. Oh, one element that bugs me, though. The characters stop and restart moving in mid-air relatively often. Unless their uniforms integrate some sort of manuvering device, there's no way this could happen. Even if they could some how stop in mid air, they'd be aimlessly flailing around trying to get moving again with nothing to push off of.
  25. I'll see if I can dig it up. It's all in Japanese, so not as useful as I wish it was. Edit- Ah, here it is! Happy End of Evangelion However, seems like this one doesn't go as far as the kid. I came across some art of that possibility, including Asuka and her daughter, but haven't found the acompanying work.
