  1. Forget Curry House, and head up to the next floor, to a place called Orochon. (Or is it Orochan?) Best damn ramen in town, and make sure to get the Cha-shu in it, as it's simply awesome. Also, if you've got money to burn, go to Sushi Nozawa in Studio City. Nozawa is commonly regarded, and not without reason, as the best sushi you can get outside of Japan, bar none. Dinner there for two is about 100 bucks, not too horrible, but not cheap by any means.
  2. I like that idea, I've always liked the VF blueprints.
  3. Changed my mind, actually. I really liked the Civic, and it was the best set up interior I've ever been in, but I test drove a Sentra SE-R Spec V today, and it really drives better than the Si. Much faster, too. Pretty much fully loaded (only option I'm not getting is the Brembo Brake Package, as you can get a StopTech or similar setup for the same money), I'll be paying 15,885, which is a very good deal, and well within the recommendations made by KBB.
  4. Well, I think I've found my new car. Test drove one today, and fell in love with the Honda Civic Si. The thing that really impresses me is how well designed the interior is, from the shifter position to the seats. I've never found a car where I could have a perfect pedal position and still be perfect on the steering wheel and shifter, until now. And the seats are almost identical to Recaro SRDs. Handling is great as well, and power is decent, although I didn't really get to take it into VTEC range. It did go from 50-80 quite fast, though. An '03 or '04 with low miles is sub-15k, which makes it viable for me.
  5. That was totally unbelievable. I'm scared now, people can get all that info about me! It'll be easier, too, because my car's been published in a Magazine where the plates weren't obscured...
  6. Hey, I actually think it may be a good thing. It's a step towards having US anime voiced by real acting talents, and not just random semi-professional voice actors.
  7. I'm actually liking this series so far. There is one thing I do want to mention, though, in regards to saying that Kawamori is just making a run-of-the-mill anime. Think back to the first four episodes of Macross. How revolutionary did it seem in those first episodes? We're only four episodes into a full TV series here, we really have no idea where Kawamori will be going with Aquarion, or what it'll turn out to be.
  8. So, there was an Aile released? I didn't see any indication of it on the card... Or was it on the deactive Strike? What I find really odd, though, is the glaring lack of an Aegis figure.
  9. I'm glad this thread went up. Went to KB, got Strike, Launcher Strike, Duel, Buster, and both Astrays, all for 20 bucks. Sadly, no deact Strike ot Sword Strike. I already had the Sky Grasper w/ Aile Pack from Dengeki, the pack fits on Strike, as well as the launcher setup fitting on the Grasper, it's pretty cool. I'll try to get some pics later.
  10. ANBU just announced that Starship Operators has been licensed. That means eps. 9-12 aren't going to be released until Geneon's DVD comes out, which I don't expect to happen until '06 at the earliest. So this really sucks.
  11. I can imagine. Looks similar to what happenned to my S14. If you want to really feel sick, look at wreckedexotics.com. (Worksafe....unless your boss really likes cars)
  12. Umm... I'd assume that it was Fxcking awesome, and "farting" was MW's filters acting up. C'mon, a Mod, of all people, should see that! But the movie sounds awesome. Maybe Lucas hasn't really lost it at all, just that he's only good at making one kind of movie, and this is it.
  13. And the funny thing is that they probably aren't even in the military. From what I've heard, most high school age kids and young adults are encouraged, probably even required to keep firearms such as the ones featured to help protect smaller children going to school. God, if only things were like that here in the states as it used to be, the country would probably be a safer place. No, it's almost certain they're in the military. Everyone in Isreal has to enter the reserves at 18, and they're required to carry their weapons at all times. I sorta wish I lived there....
  14. MSN had a similar article a while back, it was absolutely hilarious. They were talking about online gaming, and warning parents about "griefers", roving bands of bad players who go around creating havoc in servers. Of course, anyone who really plays online games knows that Smacktards are very rarely organized to such a degree...
  15. I'm glad they're not making it take place after RotJ. Doing so would end up completely screwing up the continuity of the novels, and I vastly prefer that universe to whatever Lucas and crew would come up with. Now, I'd love it if they'd make a TV series out of Rogue Squadron or something of the sort.
  16. Yeah, the whole thing has been a point of discussion on 4chan for the past couple weeks. There's a pic around with the Pope's face on Palpatine, you'd hardly know it's photoshopped. Only the Hoary Froating Head can save us now!
  17. Haha, I guess I'm getting the opposite from this article. Reading it made me feel relatively normal!
  18. There's a site that supposedly has a program that you download, which is a "studio" you can use to make MP3 ringtones. Personally, that's what I really want, as it'd allow use of just about any song out there, with minimal trouble and sounding like the real song.
  19. Vostok took his WRX to Silver State last year, he got a whole half page devoted to his car in Option magazine, too! (Option was there with their Stream Z II project)
  20. Who's been subbing 2nd Gig, by the way? I really want to see it, but no source for it. I do agree that the sub vs. the dub makes a huge difference with SAC. I watched it on TV last night, and it really fell flat in comparison to the subs. (I've got them on DVD)
  21. Well, I know, even from my airsoft experience, that I know, almost instinctively, when it's time to drop the mag and slap another 30 rounder in. So it's not too hard. Plus, I usually take any oppurtunity to reload, so as not to change mags in combat, I figure the same would probably happen in real life. As for civillian applications.... in what situation would it possibly be necessary to use more than 30 rounds in a defense role? We're talking at most two or three opponents in a civillian combat situation, not an army of ninjas or a horde of flesh-eating zombies.
  22. One of the Japanese LMGs in WWII had an ammo counter on it. However, it was analog, obviously, and was known not to work particurlarly well. I think nobody's made one for a modern gun because it's unnecessary. Hardly anything holds more than 30 rounds, and it's not too hard for an expereinced fighter in combat to judge how much is left. With a weapon like a Pulse Rifle, that could hold in the area of 100 rounds, it'd be more necessary. Don't forget, also, that such a thing could give you away in a dark area, being a glowing LCD and all.
  23. I bought the Intron Depot art book and was flicking through it while waiting for a train. A friend of mine was lookijng over my shoulder. I didn't know at the time that Intron Depot has the original, uncensored scene in it. I found out when I heard the sound of eyeballs getting VERY big, VERY quickly... I might be wrong on this - its not entirely clear from the manga - but that scene may have been taking place virtually, in which case the Major may have been, er, "trying" things out... However, theres further evidence from the SAC TV series (although that is a different timeline) that she is. On the other hand, considering that, at least going by the movies, its possible to transplant a cyborg brain to another body, sexuality may just not be a hang-up in the GiTs universe anymore...! That scene is in the newer release of the US manga. It is virtual. Explanation I've seen is that the technology they're using only works for same-sex, not hetero.
  24. Skull Squardon wouldn't have survived. Remember, they left on the SDF-2, along with Hikaru, Misa, Minmay, etc, so the squadron would have been gone. They could have recieved the design data for the VF-11 before they lost contact, so, concievably, they could have VF-11s, but I'm not sure if the dates match up.
  25. I still like Togusa a lot, though, he's probably my favorite character. He's the easiest character to identify with, the most like a real person, I suppose.
