  1. I finally obtained a HESS Holiday Optimus Prime, and (at least the bot and not the repurposed Earthrise trailer) he is fantastic. Maybe the best design at the deluxe or leader class I've acquired in some time. For me, the last with such good tolerances at this scale was JP93 from the Jurassic Park collab set. Designs like these make Tracks/Road Rage seem like dollar store KOs for being so poorly designed. More is to come from this Volvo cab design, and I can't wait for the repaints.
  2. OT, for a sec... Have there been any alternative manufacturing sources for 1/48 DX compatible missiles? I'd guess someone probably did 3D-printed copies (any for sale?), but was there any KO sets like Valkyrie Factory has done for 1/60 strike parts? Like I mentioned before, non-canon it may be, but I feel like my Angel Bird should have the option. The official set is pricey, though, and something I think I'd only lay out for if I actually lost original missiles from a valk or obtained a loose valk 2nd hand. Anyhow, was curious.
  3. Love the "wood land" camouflage one more, though! (Looking for that one)
  4. I wish the next were a VE-1 or VT-1.
  5. I'd love to see you catch up on reviews! Whatever I can't afford to collect, I collect the video you do of it. 😄
  6. You skipped over SHMA, which is on par with HMR pricing now, so yeah, it makes sense since they have already gotten product in stores. I get that Macross is not Godzilla, or Transformers, but I'd argue Gundam folks would know, or at least try, Macross items in a big box store like that. I'm sure Bandai sold past buyers with such pitches to even get the Gundam stuff in there.
  7. I have a very warm and spacious mailbox.
  8. That's just great. I love the angle of the picture obscuring the number of the surplus plane. 😆 Smart move buying a case though! What's he gonna do with his Yamato's?
  9. He had been available on WG's site for awhile as Minerva is now.
  10. Actually, yes. SHMA had been found in Target even while NECA was there. Bandai was definitely trying. Plus Target has at least one $100+ Masterpiece Transformer in store every year, so high-priced figures are not unprecedented. Also, the Jada Robotech cars are in Target, so the franchise in one form or another is on Target's buyer's radar.
  11. Well, if Costco starts selling "Family Size" DX Valk packs, I might actually join.
  12. Did we ever learn whether their Toho license was restricted by contract to just Godzilla, or that was NECAs choice? I know they expanded with the Legendary MV, but it still bugs me we didn't even get a Anguirus to go with a classic.
  13. Even Rolex have had some bad color choices! 😄 The thing is the build. Just handling it for its scale, you finally realize it was worth saving up for.
  14. If anything, I was expecting (and hoping) that Bandai was trying to build their US market beyond Diamond getting them into comic shops to big box brick and mortar chain stores like Target and Walmart (since they have already gotten into those stores with Gundam, and have established the relationships with their buyers and distribution infrastructure).
  15. Just put mine through its paces again, and immediately I'm reminded how DX is the Rolex of Valks. I just want more. Then I look at what I paid, and know it'll be awhile. 😭🤬😆
  16. Price will make a difference for me, of course, but if they skew accurate within their restrictions, I can see getting this. If it's deformed for the sake of it, then I'm usually out (Well, the Joke Machine VF-1 was kinda cute).
  17. Seriously. aside from the fact that the shipping would have been minimal an increase compared to the five already, he could have that sixth one as a "play" version and the others in a static formation display. That, or offload him on eBay for a profit. Either way, when you know six come to a case, I don't get not going all out. Of course, if anyone's faced with this dilemma, I'll take any free extras. 😄
  18. Ah yes, I think I saw someone mention this on TFW2005 in their Macross thread. The Lucky Cat line format is that the figure, or components of it (like Voltron), has to fold into cubes and fit into clear plastic cube boxes. If that holds true here, then this VF-1 will break down into several components, or it's small and folds into one. If it does, I fear the wings will be hinged. Looking at the new silhouettes for their Bayverse Prime and Bumblebee, I see added kibble at the edges which hint at hinges for those too. At first, I was psyched that Valkyrie Factory had a competitor, but it seems this will not fill that role. I wish. Like I said before, those are so damned cheap in build, that they ought to be found in dollar stores on a regular basis. If so, I'd buy a bunch!
  19. I see one on eBay https://www.ebay.com/itm/394434554069 Cheaper ($250 shipped before tax): https://www.ebay.com/itm/275578840714
  20. Got a SMS from DHL saying my Angel Bird will arrive Tuesday.
  21. A-E reached out to ask if I want the shipment now. YES, I said.
  22. True, any VF-1A/J/S with a 1D head would be a mongrel without the right cockpit, but I'd grab one if a full kit weren't on offer.
  23. Has anyone designed a Yamato 1/48-compatible VF-1D head for printing?
