  1. I didn't realize that HG claimed to OWN a stake in Macross through Tat. That puts a wrinkle in there. But, if the Tokyo court ruled that BW owns the rights to SDF doesn't that make HG's "right" to Macross void? And how does their perceived ownership of SDF extend to DYRL? They have yet to try and release their copy of that (even though they had that web page a couple of years ago). But, they release toys (and are making more) under the DYRL name?
  2. Well, actually, its obvious to me the fans of Macross on this board care. And I'd say the big negative it has affected us through our wallets. We could have had already had (hopefully) nicely done subtitled, R1 releases for DYRL and Mac Zero. The could have potentially struck up a deal with Yamato and BW to release their far superior valk here saving the fans some money, and making HG, BW, and Yamato money as well. HG has singlehandedly prevented the release of these products and the games as well. And, my question still isn't answered. It's been 25 years now. Is there so much animosity that neither side can come to a financial agreement at this point? I'm still wondering about the length of the contract itself. Manga is losing licenses lately, and will probably lose Mac Plus and II soon. Does the HG/TAT license last until we're celebrating the 50th anniversary of Macross? Is it simply a matter of Tatsunoko saying they don't want to renew it?
  3. I think potraying Robotech as either Coke or Pepsi would actually quite a compliment to Robotech. To me that analogy would be more approporiate if likened to RT to Tab or one of those generic brands they sell at Wal Mart. Watered down and not quite the same. Well, since HG is so heck bent on distancing itself from Macross, why not raise the white flag and try to bring Big West to the table again? Or is this some elaborate, and annoying, no way "to save face" situation? Does neither company have the ability or the finances to settle the matter? Could Big West buy HG out of their interest in Macross? If RT was almost 25 years ago now, when is the Tat/HG contract supposed to run out? Surely it wasn't into perpetuity...
  4. Kevin, just wanted to say thanks. I bought a copy of the FX DRYL from you about 5 years ago and that jumpstarted my love for all things Macross. Now I've got a closet full of valks and and empty wallet!
  5. Wow. Just wow. Looks really frakin sweet. I'm going to have to wear a drool cup once I get this in my hands.
  6. It looks pretty frakin' sweet. I might have to order a 2nd one.
  7. Dodiano, you are a very brave person to let your 4 year old play with your 1/48s. My child gets to play with my 1/55s and even that is painful to watch sometimes.
  8. Wow vfx...you get mad props for that custom tank. What did you end up doing? Did you have to break its knee caps?
  9. Well, they did create a protoculture powered mechanical horse. I think the question should be "What were they smoking?"
  10. Hoary cow! This is just ridiculous. Are they trying to drive us into the poor house? My wallet now has Wrath of Khan type rage at this point...except Yamatoooo! Yamatoooo! doesn't sound nearly as entertaining. Maybe we should combine and sticky a thread for Yamato re-releases since this seems to be coming up a lot lately?
  11. Maybe the valk armored parts ver 2 is a low-viz or stealth color FP set? It seems to be coming out around the same time as those 2 valks. BTW, Yamato, if you're reading this, my wallet is VERY, VERY angry with you right now.
  12. I never liked the Masters portion of RT, but I've always really liked the HT's design. It just looks like a badass transforming tank. Yes, it's a little impractical considering the pilot sits out in the open, but I thought it looked better than the gi joe tanks when I was 9. I'm still holding out hope that someone decides to make a nice 3 mode toy out of this. Since my only hope rests with Toynami, I'll probably be long dead before that happens.
  13. Who is the monkey running the CN these days? Megas had like a 12 episode run, then disappeared, Venture Bros disappears, and JLU gets the can. So instead we get 12 oz mouse and squibillies and things that just aren't funny or entertaining. Why doesn't CN know when they have something worth keeping on the air? Who's in these focus groups?
  14. Finally got to sit down and watch the last couple of eps and thought it wrapped up nicely. I'm just disappointed we didn't see more of the mass production aquarions before they got wasted. I guess they were the CF for the series, but they had some pretty cool transformations.
  15. For some reason, I find it really amusing that the "cruiser" configuration is "unavailable". Wouldn't that be the easiest mode for them to get the toy to transform into?
  16. Any chance they're going to lose the Macross Plus and Mac 2 licenses any time soon? They really need a respectful release and not the half-arsed releases manga gave us.
  17. I was under the impression that the big problem with the JLU was that it was hogging characters for the WB's new products (The Batman, and *rumor* The Superman or some such lame re-boot to sync up with the movie). The Timm Universe has been around for about 15 years and it's original demographic is now old (yes, me too). WB wanted to reboot the franchises to the kiddies and JLU had wrapped all the good characters up for the toylines. Anyways, I read earlier today that JLU was coming back on Feb.11 to the states (and that the fork was pretty deep at this point for another season). Probably because TPTB at CN saw how many people were torrenting the UK eps, which BTW have been pretty cool. Especially, the last ep with the Flash. It kind of has "Challange of the Superfriends" type plot, but was pulled off with a lot more style.
  18. How is it that the UK got to see this before us??? I'd much rather be watching a quality show like JLU than Zatch Bell or One Piece. Those shows don't need to be in prime time. Do they even know when they're going to start showing JLU again? Originally it was supposed to be back in December, now they're saying Spring of this year.... Then I read somewhere that Bruce Timm (or was it Dini??) wanted out of Warner animation... I hope that CN will actually show the last eps instead of just blowing off the American fan base.
  19. I believe that red is actually derived from the RT: Sentinels movie. When they're visiting bucket head on the RT satellite, they show the SDF3 under construction and they shuttles are putting red panels in place. I never really understood why it would be a different color from a regular zent ship if it was supposed to be a zent ship shell.
  20. Wow! Continues to look good and I'm glad we finally got to see the gerwalk. I can' believe we have to wait until April for this.
  21. Wow, this is going to be bad. Real bad. Like Cat in the Hat live action bad. Some things should not be touched. Ultra-violent hentai that was originally less than an hour long is now going to be dragged out and made appealing to a western audience and probably made pg-13. I guess that treatment for Green Eggs and Ham isn't ready yet. I'll admit, I didn't think Kite was that great, but c'mon Hollywood try something original or go pillage Space Gundam V.
  22. A new series would be great. Especially if it was a sidestory set during the SDF Macross time line with some cameos by our favorite characters But I'd really like a Bandai reissue or SOC treatment for the SDF with a DYRL variant.
  23. I'm of the mind that there's 2 big problems with this product: 1. The execution is hopelessly mediocre 2. The audience potential is small (hardcore RT geeks, some curious old school RT fans) so the profit potential is limited at best. The new anime fans in the US seem to be more interested in InuYasha or Naruto than anything involving giant ass kicking robots. I believe I read some time ago that another company was trying to revive Voltron a couple of years back and that still hasn't materialzied either. Ultimately, the bottom line is what's at stake for all involved. I'm betting that even if RTSC gets released, that an entire series would be a miracle. This will probably go into the $1 dvd bin next the RT Sentinels.
  24. Maybe it hasn't been release because they can't find a distributor for their product? Coming from HG, it could be so bad no anime co wants to be responsible for trying to pawn it off on anime fans. Actually, kind of surprising when you consider how many lame movies go direct to video every week. Maybe they should have had Dean Cain and John Rhys-Davies in the cast and they could have had the sci-fi channel air it?
  25. It almost sounds like they're just throwing in characters for the sake of having them now. I'm not really sure what the point is of bringing Gwen in when Raimi and co already have done the "Gwen Stacy death drop" in Spidey 1. Except with MJ. And she lived. Then we've got Venom (and the symbiote) and Sandman, and of course, Harry Osbourne who may or may not wear the goblin costume in this one. It's starting to seem like too much for a 2 hour movie. It seems like a cop out to add bad guys just to add them. I'm almost suprised they aren't just going for the full sinister six line up at this point. Besides, this going to be teh suck just because it's obvious that Bryce's hands are way too small, Topher Grace will always be a dumbass, and Mary Jane never had a snaggletooth.
