  1. Ah. Volks is a store over here. Oh, bugger. I was extending the legs of my Gakken (ala that Japanese custom) and I accidentally glued the helmet to the head. Just HOW I managed to do this I have no idea. Now it won't open AND I can't get the head apart. Oh, well, Not the end of the world. never liked that face sculpt anyway.
  2. I saw the red Legios/Tread sets in Sakuraya lastnight. It's kinda of cheap that it's the same box but with a sticker slapped on it saying "Zeta". Hey, btw. Opened the landing gear on my Legioss for only the third time since I got it. The landing gear in the left leg came off inside the leg and was rattling around. I had to glue it back on. Careful because if it falls off it will just fall out of the open backs of the Legioss' calf. Don't wanna lose that piece. Now that's QC issue numero two on the Leg/Tread set so far for me.
  3. On the subject of in-scale heads, what figures have heads suitable for an un-helmeted Stick for the 1/8 Gakken? I don't mind a little resculpting and painitng but the least amount of work needed would be ideal.
  4. Kind of difficult to say which is best since one (beagle) is yet to see a release. Design-wise the CM is your man. But the looks belong to the Megahouse.
  5. To be fair, it's the only thing on my CM that has suffered QC problems. The toys themselves are solid little buggers.
  6. I hardly even touched the thing. I used it maybe a few times but that was it. Recently i've been getting some really awful QC problems with stuff i'm buying. It probably was just mine. Maybe the person who screwedd it together put the screw in at an angle and it stripped the thread.
  7. It gets worse as the metal arm becomes looser over time. Mine simply fell apart the other day and the screws seem to have destroyed the thread so I can't put it back together. I just cry, put the metal arm away and push the thought of connecting the Legioss and Tread to the back of my mind. It hurts sometimes. But.....I carry on regardless.
  8. I just used some generic man-hands from a Volks. The neck is pretty easy. Just cut the neck off the head then buy a ball/socket set and glue the socket inside the neck. I put some epoxy putty inside the head to hold the ball-post. Then I slipped a little round plastc ring over the post to give it some mass and avoid having a pencil neck.
  9. I was really only joking about it but there was some ham-fisted logic on my part. The whole moving the mountains thing was one of them. Then I noticed that Basara seems to have paid respect to his father"s lighting helmet design on his own Valks helmet. On that note, Basara was the first person in the show to show both singing and ace piloting skills. Not only that, but the first to have a supernatural aspect to his singing. Did he inherit both these skills from his parents? it's a nice fit. He also wears that pink bandana around his leg. Was it the pink cloth that Sara wore in her hair in the final episod?. Maybe he got that as a momento from his mother. The kanji for Basara's name also translates as "Hot air". Perhaps Sara gave him a name that reminded her of his father. OK, i'm in no way serious about any of this btw. I'm just bored.
  10. Thanks. I wanted a darker colour shceme that looked less plasticky. I have to matte up the red parts tho to give them more contrast with the armour. The legs can splay quite well on mine. Doesn`t really show in the pics but it rests quite well on the seat.
  11. Here are the pics I was asked to post. The one showing the seated rider isn`t actually that good as I placed one foot down on the ground. But it does raise up and tuck in more than that so that it`s well up off the floor. In the middle of doing a few mods on the rider and the bike. And WTF. Apologies if this has been posted before. 1 to 1 scale armour! I think it`s the Toynami version.
  12. I much prefer the version of Basara that appears in Dynamite. Though the arrogant, obnoxious git from the series is fun to watch. Was discussing Basara's origin with a friend the other day and caught a lot of flak for my "Basara's parents are Shin and Sara" theory.
  13. What exactly is stopping your figure sitting on the bike? Mine couldn't at first because the legs could not bend enough to let the feet clear the ground. After putting the knee joints in the right way around the feet can now clear the ground and the figure can sit quite comfortably. Can't post pics at the moment but can you post a few in the meantime showing exactly how well yours can sit. Also how much the knees can bend. Cheers.
  14. Great. I'm the victim of 20+ year old QC issues. Oh, well. It's a much better figure after putting them in the right way around. I can even get it sitting on the bike rather than standing over it.
  15. BTW, I noticed that the knees of my 1/8 were put in backwards. I swapped them around and it can now bend at a 90 degree angle. Only ever havinbg owned one I don't know if this was just on mine. Anyone else have bacwards knees in their 1/8?
  16. The 1/8 is definitely my favourite chunky from the 80s. More so than the SDF. Though I just started the task of repainting mine. It looks so much better with the stripes on the hip guards. The 1/8 came with stickers for that area? Mine didn't.
  17. Just submitted my suggestion. Though it really sucks that the winning name will probably NOT be mentioned in the show,
  18. The significance has already been explained. It was originally used by Fleming for a short story. Wikipedia has the full story on why it was chosen and why it's significant.
  19. Two versions of the arm would have been nice. I'm sure that early prototype pics showed two different arms. Mine is actually falling apart. The screw at the front that connects the two halves is loosening and I can't tighten it back up. At this rate i'll be using Sam's custom arm design pretty soon. Thinking of doing that anyway though.
  20. I never realised that it had that head gimmick (assuming you recall correctly )
  21. Yep. I was told end of April or early May by a guy at Sakuraya today. Not as psyched over the 21 as I am the 1/60 though. Oh, I forgot. They had a list of forthcoming releases on the wall in the store. Of the nearly 100 items on the list, there was no 21 scheduled for April.. I guess it's gonna be May then.
  22. Now. Do I attempt a similar custom on my own freshly acquired Gakken? Think I'll only attempt a paint job. But that custom looks so good. GAH. BTW, Just click the back button next to the MAIN button at the top and you'll be able to see the very beginning of his custom. OH....it doesn't actually show all that much really.
  23. Perhaps you could tell my boss that little fact.
  24. Very nice work I like the fact that your making this as easy for others to replicate as you could. Very courteous fellow
  25. What does "LMFAO" mean anyway? "Lake Michigan Ferries Are Obsolete"? I'm just so confused
