Wow, that looks impressive! And Shizuka, from what I remember Seto Kaiba saying, the cannon exchanges matter in this dimension with super-dimensional quanta, which comes to this dimension charged. It then gets projected toward the enemy, damaging them through transfer of kinetic energy as well as the particles themselves reacting energetically on contact. Look up the Super Fun Time Valkyrie thread as well as the Newbie Questions thread in the Movies and TV Series topic for a far better explanation. The Macross Cannon was only the first model, after all. It was miniaturized and improved for use by the later Valkyries...

Received an HLJ email as well. The code is nice, though. What do we think about HLJ changing the ordering process for these limited items? They say they want to make it more equitable - how, I wonder? Lottery system?

I received the same email... but I had placed my order at about 5:04 and received my confirmation email at 6:06. It seems the people who were able to pre-order early might have affected this process. It seems the only order I can count on is CDJ’s. This is appalling. Since when is buying a toy-even a Bandai Valkyrie-so difficult and subject to recalls?

Even the anime isn’t anime-accurate. I just don’t care enough about these things. I’m no rivet-counter, I’m too happy these things exist at all. When I was a kid, these things would never have been contemplated. Then the original Yamato 1/72 19 and 21 were being advertised in Inquest and EGM and I thought they were the Second Coming. Then I learned about the SHE kits (from this very site) and their complexity and faithfulness to the original lineart (and amazing cost) astonished me. Now we have a more detailed, more gimmicky, more durable, larger, pre-painted-and-assembled toy that’s kinda the same price as the SHE kit (or I’m just earning more now.) It’s an amazing, amazing time to be a Macross fan, right now. Bandai pre-order shenanigans be damned.

Pretty sure the red ones are. Intakes are small and underneath the fuselage, the vertical stabilizers are canted inward and attached to the white humps on top of that fuselage.

Look on the bottom of the VF-1 and you’ll see four of those circular thrusters. They are sufficiently powerful to lift a Super Ostrich in fighter mode into full VTOL flight from Earth’s surface. So they have more oomph than they may appear! -
