Yellowing primarily affects white plastic. Your VT-1 shouldn't have any yellowing because it's beige, not white.

Primarily, but not only. As I Mentioned earlier also my green and beige colored RVF-25 and VF-25A have this issue. And some plastic parts are affected while other are not. Maybe due to parts coming from different suppliers indeed.

My wife says that she knows exactly when I'm taking valks out of their packaging. From another room in our house, she can hear the squeaks, pops, and cries of frustration as pieces fly everywhere.

This is the reason why I can’t handle valks after midnight. Had very negative experiences in the past...the valks got in life threatening danger!

  3. Me for example, I have only VF-25 renewal toys. And all stored ones show yellowing. Here’s a picture I shot today of my Yamato VT-1 V1 I bought as used some years ago. It was stored the same way as the VF-25s yet it is still in perfect condition. Maybe the “heat-management” in a box without styrofoam packaging is different?
Anyway, what happened to my 25s is the price I have to pay for false storage.

  4. Now I checked on all Frontier Valks, even the colored VF-25A and RVF-25 show signs of yellowing though not as Bades the YF-25. The only one still in perfect shape is the VF-25G, last bought (used) but also first in cool and dark storage. I'm still a bit anxious on trying solutions with peroxide or else as I'm afraid of damaging the tampo prints.

Hope this won't happen to my VF-31s'. They're all on display (out of sunlight) and still looking good so far.

Yeah, heat yellows for sure, we see this with the attic collections all the time.

I see, though I don’t want to but all my Valks  not on display will go down in the cellar. Glad I took half of the collection down last year . But have to check the yellowing state once more, crap!

  6. You guys made me curious. Just came home from work.  Checked my stored VF-25F and YF-25. I am shocked, both got yellowed in their boxes. The VF-25F was only a few weeks out, the YF-25 only for check.
I think it’s the environmental conditions. I store them in a cabinet with the stereo and TV and other electronic devices on top. I think it is the heat of the devices and the changing temperatures which cause yellowing. Same affect has direct sunlight. Look at those pictures: The YF-25 in the last picture which is on constant display in an front open box only shows minor yellowing:ACD36AC6-A19E-4995-A34B-BAAA5BB7BCC2.thumb.jpeg.c553230ac29b31e777ca87956fc16c42.jpeg7CA7CF7A-FD82-4BD2-B992-9E31ABA88607.thumb.jpeg.df656e913cebde47c79ed95ffb3ace3e.jpeg4619618C-F14E-4596-B8F7-7DFB615AA559.thumb.jpeg.d4f34727de52b88a242b271512f63344.jpeg

  7. I have two YF-25 on display I n the living room for about two years now, not in direct sunlight though. Did not notice any yellowing. I think I get my third YF-25 as well as the VF25-F which I stowed away to see if there are any differences.

not gonna lie then MG-eX unicorn looks amazing even before paint and decals. I snagged one for under 200 shipped from galactic toys using some coupon code honey input for me lol

Oh yes, I like that! I have the box lying around but I really don't know when I will start building. Sooooo many parts...and so many backlog...

  9. Pengbuzz, that’s love, isn’t it?!

My wife wouldn’t mind a second  to trash all my Macross and other sci-fi stuff if I gave the ok . But at least she tolerates the shelves in the living room (until now).

So this cat really deserves lots of love to make her fur shiny once more

I'm not a fan of MF, but that is awesome.  I tried figures, Minmei fig that came with an Arii kit ages ago, and it came out looking like she was from a horror movie, one of those ghosts with no face, hahahaha!

Painting faces is a horror for me, too. When I tried painting eyes they always looked weird in the end. Thus I only built figures which are coming with decals for the eyes!

Your Trek fleet project comes along nicely. I admit I won’t have the patience to deal with these multiple ships of which each has its own issues at the same time!

  11. Just finished: Sheryl Nome (resin kit from E2046)

Took me five weeks to finish her as I have not much time for hobby left since work is steadily increasing since January.

Though it is a resin kit it was not hard to built - fitting of parts was quite good, not much filling, priming and sanding necessary and everything went fine until the last airbrush stroke which should only be a tiny correction to the sole of one boot.

From here on I went through modelers’ hell as I had to redo the right leg completly cause somehow I managed to ruin the finished paint job due to color on my fingertip. After this I thought I had overcome the worst part of this build, but it struck me even harder. During assembly of the veil on the back I dropped the idea of screwing it to the body and decided to use solely superglue. When I checked some minutes later I almost got an heart attack as I noticed a drop of glue had run down the right thigh.

Even worse, since the veil came off again I had marks of superglue on other parts, too. Once again I had to sand down the thighs, paint and clear coat it again. this time even on the already assembled figure. Same on some other parts. Took me the whole weekend for the repairs. And this time I attached the veil with a screw. But I still wonder how smoothly I went through the restoration process in the end.

Final conclusion: I hate superglue!!!!

Nothing exciting to report, just a lot of filling, sanding, bending and cursing.IMG_20210314_233505.thumb.jpg.f49f1a68e587efa83c272c3dd29b8217.jpg

Have a bit more sanding and I'll hit these guys with primer.

The Ent E was pretty bad, a lot of flash, a lot of ill-fitting parts.

The Ent C.....I was so close to sanding off the grid-lines, or maybe even knocking them down a bit, but the details they are attached to (life boats, windows, phaser banks) would be either affected or a huge pain in the butt to work around.

I think I'll have to accept the Ent C for how it looks.  But I'm glad I smoothied the Ent B and Ent D

Cursing... That was what I did half the time working on my current project during the past two days as well!

But as we know your abilities you will make the crappiest kits looking good! :D

  13. I have built several Frame Arms Girls over the past years. I really liked the „original“ characters of the series but lately they flooding the market with these cross-over variants of other mecha series and more and more naked skin. It gets kind of annoying. Therefore I tend to give new girls I gonna build a more decent outfit by painting all over those skin parts.

It had also appreciated that the water decal set for Klan came with colored parts to recreate her fully closed flight suit instead of the even more revealing skin parts.

When I look at my fully clothed VFGirls I think they are sexy enough :D

I haven’t had problems with them in the past but something during the first Covid wave last year messed with their business/storage.

It might be ok when you order just one item. All my open orders have an item they marked as „in stock“ on their page that they don’t really have available which keeps messing up orders it seems.

Now that you mention, I had this two years ago once. The "in stock" item was not in stock after all, but I got automatically refunded. And as I recall I bought only pre-order items since then.

    Good luck, receiving your Dynames.

I just ordered the last Metal Build Sword Striker from BBTS since NY is unable to ship out the one I ordered with them or any of the other orders I have open with them.

I will need to get in contact with my CC company if they don’t respond next week to get my money back.

Thanks, until now I had no issues with NY, they even delivered the Kairos although with a delay. So I thought I'll give them another try.

Hope it will work out for you to get at least your money back.

@derex3592 Thanks for posting the video, I'm taking the same steps in airbrushing that the modeler does, only I'm usually try to limit the surface colors to two passes (flat dark base & semi-gloss light panel shade).

For the heck of it, I tried to document this with my camera, but it's pretty tedious to watch without the FFWD effect:

Hop to Flickr to see the action (2 min).

The greatest weakness of the MiG 1.44 was apparently it's boring late cold war paint scheme that must have killed the project once the officials laid their eyes on the proposal. I set out to rectify that by applying Sukhoj's ghost pixel scheme...

Got the great Su-57 masks from Arma Hobby, cut them apart and fitted them on the MFI:

The masked area got a base layer of Dark Sea Grey:

    50981683078_a03a5f33b0_c.jpg

Then came the actual color pass. As you can see in the video, it is applied panel by panel and took about 45 minutes. I also try to give some structure to uniform surfaces like the huge wings by wiggling the airbrush while I paint streaks lengthwise.

    Et voilá: Instant air superiority:

That is really good looking color scheme for this birdie! Great work :good:

And thanks @all for sharing the videos and links, hopefully I learned new things to add to my painting skills.
