  1. For the young in Macross, I offer a gift known as Macrossvision. This gift comes only after many disappointments and intermittent sudden loss of buying power as you navigate this challenging tunnel of evil. Once acquired, Macrossvision is not so much used to prevent anything, it essentially just gives you a preview of your impending doom. The following vision is absolute and vivid. This is my doom. Arcadia sets a release date for the SV-51 I will struggle to not order the first release because I will be certain a premium finish will come later. Then I will wonder, what if they don’t issue a premium or they go out of business? I will then order the first release. Arcadia will then release the premium. I will order the premium before I sell the standard release. Anxiety will rise and I will want to sell the first release. The only real decision here is over a year away. Do I sell the standard version I think I don’t need? But what if my premium finish breaks and I can’t get a replacement because they have gone up so much in price? My children years from now find these toys amongst old pictures. They say things like, “I remember that” and “oh yeah” My grandchildren are given the toys and they are broken immediately during transformation while at the dinner table refusing to eat vegetables. The Premium Fokker, also now given to the children, is thrown across the room by a chubby hand covered in dry Cheerios and peanut butter. My granddaughter, who is eating vegetables and as a result is not being monitored, also glues glitter in globs all over one of them. But... Like that mass production VF-1 that makes it around the corner in a cool hugging turn, a lone VF-1 remains sealed somewhere in storage. It’s filled with a bunch of replacement shapeway parts that were never needed, but needed to be purchased just in case. The tunnel of evil waits for another to come along and start the journey all over again.

I see the VF-4 is in the Tamashii Nations site, does this mean it’s an exclusive? I hope so because the exclusives have a much longer pre-order window.
  3. The page on Arcadia is about to turn. They will always have the distinction of the following: Challeging engineering and daring to take on Bandai. That took guts for a small company. They then provided over a decade of dominance, knocking everyone else out. I believe it is Yamato/Arcadia that we can thank for the renaissance we have seen in Valk toys Competitors lost market share and had to compete, Valk toys began to be improved and dusted off everywhere at toy companies. Macross came back, finally. They introduced premium type molding: replacing paint with clear plastic, minimal but real world Tampo markings. They introduced the matte finish that we all love and Bandai now emulates. They set the standard for perfect transformation vs parts swapping, down to the very level of the heatshield being integrated. They set the standard for a valk to also come with a painted removable pilot. Yamato Arcadia essentially established the scorecard that all future valks are measured against. They are the standard, even when they are no longer the best, being the standard occupies more space then the best ever occupies. The best is temporary. I recognize that it hasn’t even been delivered and evaluated, but from what I see, if the joints hold, the DX VF-1 will be best in class. Best in the class that Yamato and Arcadia built and established.
  4. This thing is going to climb like a beast in price.
  5. I think the Vulcans are different from what I remember on my VF-19. I know the thrusters in he feet are molded differently.
  6. I’m pissed that I have my YF-19 but can’t watch my comparison review against the VF-19 on any moon. looking forward to it.
  7. This really means she has made positive comments about you in the past and he thinks the funky music will start if you stop by and see her. Flirt with her like crazy now and drive him nuts.
  8. Ab Crunch would be so easy if you could just pull the black area just in front of cockpit forward a little bit and have it hinge. Then push it back in for fighter mode. There is a lot of empty space in that nose.
  9. I hope for a small part of trivia, they may have different handlers who place this one correctly in fighter mode in the correct form vs what appeared to be difficulty in putting it into fighter mode with the vf-19 advanced.
  10. The missiles have a clear lense for the seeker head. That is a huge detail.
  11. I honestly think Arcadia is going to go for color seperation akin to RG kits. I see most on hinged areas for strength yes, but in other areas it doesnt look like its slaved to function.
  12. Thanks man. That makes me feel a lot better.
  13. I grabbed a second one at NY in case my first at CDjapan got cancelled for some reason. Never bought from CDjapan before, so I'm not sure if they oversell and cancel.
  14. Got one at cdjapan
  15. My VF-1 master file shows them as actual cannons, shell firing.
  16. It also has barrels molded into the cannons alongside the intakes. This thing rocks.
  17. Man, even the head guns have indents to simulate actual barrels. I have never seen that on a VF-1 Toy. A page has turned. Arcadia's dominance in the VF-1 line was important and long lasting but it is now over.
  18. AND....then I see the ugly font used for the "pilot name" and "vermillion leader" It looks that way on a lot of real world fighters though. Of course, I will buy it. I agree also with Mommar on the VF-1S. As far as the pre-order goes, I just accept that I will pay a $20-$40 mark up on the release date as I have never made a pre order window in my life with DX toys. For anyone new, the team on hear is not joking when they say "30 seconds". I have learned though that the fear of not getting one if you miss the pre order is irrational. They are always there on the release date with a mark up of about 10 -15% which I can live with. I do still like the experience of trying to get a pre order and I try it every time anyway. It has the excitement of Christmas morning.
  19. It also does not have that ugly obvious hook on the backpack that looks horrible in Arcadias Gerwalk. That thing is a huge eye sore. I know Gerwalk isnt popular but for me Gerwalk is what makes macross. That hybrid look really defines and is unique to macross fans.
  20. The proportions on this make the yamato look skinny, you can really see it in the ratio from the upper and lower leg widths. The only thing i see that could kill this is of bandai does diecast in the hips, if that happens, this thing wil be a floppy mess in about 6 months. If they are ratcheted, I am selling all of my 1/60 vf-1's.
  21. Don't forget. Roy was such a badass that he flew into space without a booster while still carrying Hikaru's escape pod underneath him. A total boss. This will be a great one to have.
  22. My source states that the Booster Combo will be released and will done with the VF-0A first followed by the VF-0S. Premium finishes of that version are unlikely at this point and it serves as the end point of the 0A/0S print line.
  23. I am buying one just because of this video, our community is so awesome.
  24. $300 for a great toy that will end up with loose hips that ruin the toy 2-4 years later or sooner based on transformation rate. I really wish Bandai would make the VF-31 hips standard across all of their 1/60 DX line. It is the single reason I will pass on what could be a great toy. Outside of the VF-31, the Bandai DX Macross line is like a shooting a star....looks great for a moment in time....then it falls apart. I love this line of Bandai which is why I have such a strong opinion on the hips and durability as a whole with paint chipping and joints. And....yes, I will likely still buy one.

Roy is such a badass that he didn't even need the booster to fly into space in Episode 2, he even did it carrying Hikaru's fuselage. When Roy decides to use this, it is simply to mock the other pilots who truly need it to get into space....they know the big dog can fly up there without it. The wimpy pilots know that Skull-001 pees on them and marks his territory.
