  1. So does NY tend to ship out in sequence based on when the preorder was placed? I haven't seen anything yet from them on the missile Regults, but I also placed my PO a couple weeks after many of you likely did.

  2. Agreed, the art is nice. And seems they packed pretty efficiently for space. I was wondering how large the box would need to be for these.

  3. One of my favorite Tenjin valkyrie paintings is the one below, which seems to be in context of DYRL, based on the surroundings. Not sure where he got the squadron logo, but I think a custom of this overall scheme would look cool.

  4. I was thinking there were more squadron logos in DYRL, but I just skimmed the movie, and only found the two below. One is a skull, but both seem to use green. I don't think we ever see kite logos on FAST packs in DYRL, for some reason.

This custom VF-1S may not be canon but I like the way it looks.

I like it, too. Have you considered making custom squadron logos for the FAST packs to match those in the movie?

Bought a HMR VF-1J. It's my second VF-1 from this line (I have a CF VF-1A). I'm in this line for the Destroids and enemy mecha, but wanted another VF-1. It's a fun toy for its size!!!

Cool, and yes the HMR VF-1 is fun. You gotta have at least a few valks to keep those destroids company!

And I am just was amazed as @no3Ljm as to where @sh9000 keeps finding those HM super parts.

I’ll take the HMR TV Queadluun-Rau and TV white VF-1S Roy.

Me too. And judging by the fact that these are what appear after the HMR logo (but before the DX logo) it would seem to suggest these are upcoming releases!

If Bandai does not launch the VF-1D in HMR I swear that I will place the whole line on the street and I will crush it with my car.

Ha ha! I'm not sure I would be quite that upset, but the 1D is definitely near the top of my most-wanted HMR list.

I think Bandai will eventually do it, but I also don't think it will be any time soon. Since it looks so similar to the VT-1, I think they would wait a while before releasing the VF-1D. Assuming the VT-1 actually gets a release date in the near future...

Hoping the Ostrich comes with Minmay as well so we can choose which pair we want in it.

Totally agree. Ideally they'd include Hikaru and Minmay in flight suits, as well as the Hikaru and Misa shown.

Either way, it's cool to finally see figures in there. Come on, preorder!

So, is this going to be coming with the strike cannon for mixing and matching, or just the missile packs?

My understanding (based on photos I've seen thus far) is that there will be no strike cannon. We had discussed a few pages back how it would be cool if Bandai would include parts to convert into VF-1S strike, but I don't see that happening.

  11. I'm looking for a loose set of the blue super/strike parts that come with Bandai Hi-Metal R VF-1S toys. Ideally they would have the red skull emblem (from Hikaru) but I'd be open to black skull logos (from Roy) as well.

If you have a set to offer, please PM me what you have and your asking price. I'm really just after the strike parts, but if the only way you'd part from them is to sell me the entire HMR Roy or Hikaru, I might go for it if the deal is good enough.

  12. The VF-2SS is looking cool. Almost making me wish I'd gotten one, but I'm OK sticking with SDFM (and some DYRL) right now.

The Hikaru VF-1A is an unexpected announcement to me. Interesting they would bring out another re-release of an original Hi-Metal before the new pieces that everyone's been wanting for months. If they hadn't already produced the 1S version, I think the swappable parts would have made sense. I just wish Bandai hadn't gone with the gray they're using for DYRL releases.

I think any future HMR announcements will be May or later, as it's likely too close to February already.

  13. Has anyone else here played through Dracula X Rondo of Blood for the PC Engine (aka Turbo Duo)?

I've been a Castlevania fan for a long time. I own copies of all the non-mobile 2D console Castlevania titles, and I'm on a gradual quest of replaying through them from oldest to newest. After the NES games and Super Castlevania, I'm currently working through Dracula X again and remembering what a great game this is. It's got colorful visuals, a nice soundtrack, reasonable difficulty, multiple paths, and multiple playable characters.

After this, it's on to Bloodlines for the Genesis, the inferior Dracula X for the SNES, then Symphony of the Night and Chronicles for PS1...

  14. Count me in as very interested to see where this goes. I'm a huge fan of the books (though never finished Silmarillion), a big fan of the LOTR movie trilogy, and somewhat a fan of the Hobbit movie trilogy. My concern would be how much liberty they take in relation to source material. If they invent stories that are Tolkien-esque but aren't as faithful to his actual writings, I'll lose interest pretty quickly.

While I welcome further expansion of the line, I'd hope Bandai at least completes the original Macross line-up before delving any further into the sequels...

Generally I agree. I mainly wish they would just go ahead and release everything from SDFM or DYRL that's already been teased (VT-1, Tomahawk, etc).

I don't know that they have to totally wrap up everything from the original series first, as long as they keep expanding it. Like they have with the VF-2 (and the Messer VF-1 to an extent) I could see them starting to sprinkle in valks from Plus and Frontier here and there, while still working to complete the SDFM lineup. It would fit their apparent goal of attracting fans of newer Macross series to the HMR line, as they continue to build out the "classics."

But yeah, I really would like to see a VF-1D, VF-1A TV Max, etc. Not all of us have @sh9000 custom skills... :)

Already got those on pre-order. I'm hoping for more in 2018.

The release of HMR Zentraedi mecha is awesome but painfully slow.:(

I tend to think that the release of HMR in general is pretty slow. But I'm realizing that's how it goes in this hobby. And it certainly does help with the problem of overloading the wallet.

Given that it's already November, and all we've heard about for 2018 so far is the VE-1, I wonder if it's going to be a slow year in general for HMR. Though the upcoming reissue Dougram makes me wonder if Bandai might not also reissue one of the early Macross pieces. I would love another shot at the armored valkyrie...

Well I got an Email this morning from Amazon that they aren't able to fulfill my preorder for the SNES mini, since they didn't get a restock in October. This is getting annoying two preorders with two different stores and none was able to fulfill it. <_<

Maybe I should just buy the cartridges that I'm missing. How high is the percentage of knock off cartridges compared to genuine ones on ebay?

Pretty low. In my experience over the last couple of years, the bootleg cart situation on EBay really isn't too bad. The operative word in this hobby is "repro" (as in reproduction) and it's mainly the rare and super expensive games that get repro'd. Some legit sellers will even show you a pic of the board inside as proof. Just read the descriptions, and if the price looks too good to be true, it probably is. And if it's got natural wear in the label from years of use, that can be reassuring.
